Anyone else remember those green covered US passports from years ago? So confusing. I think they were around 25ish years ago, something about an anniversary year or Ben Franklin or blah blah I don't actually know, I wasn't American back then. They caused tourism issues for some Americans way back when I was young. Changing big stuff like the cover color of a commonly recognized passport is a disaster, it invites questions well beyond the customs office (you need ID to check into hotels, to bank, etc and your driver's license from Montana may not be considered sufficient). Don't let someone sell you a passport with a weird yellow cover.

The standard US passport has been dark blue for decades now. I don't think the old green ones have been issued since the 60s.

@@notthatyouasked6656 I looked it up. "April 1993 to March 1994 US Passports had a green cover to honor Benjamin Franklin and the 200th anniversary of the US Consular Service." I am not old enough to have seen pre-1960s green passports in use.

The only privelege u don't get that natives do is the privelege to pass it on to your children. For that u'd have to pay extra. For anything else you're a regular citizen entitled to a passport and the right to leave and enter the country as u please

This reminds me about Kingdom of Tonga back in 1990's, they sold 'Tonga's protected person' passport which does not offer any citizenship but a privilege of nowhere, can't even travel to Tonga without obtaining visa. Eventually confused lots of countries and lots of desperate Chinese who simply want a different passport. And so it was eventually terminated.

Vanuatu Govt inadvertently admits Fatal flaw in its Honorary Citizenship program. Australia is a classic example of a country that does not take kindly to those who present “bogus documents or information that is false and misleading in relation to your current visa application”. In addition to refusing a current application (or canceling a previously issued visa), penalties can range from a three to ten-year bar on applying for an Australia visa. New Zealand goes even further and imposes a potential seven-year prison sentence along with a financial fine of NZ$100,000. Can anyone shed a light on this report?

Why would you want an Aussie passport? I have a Spanish passport but arrived in Australia as a 3 year old in 1971 and have been here ever since. Spain does not force me to vote. Spain will send consular help in other countries if needed. Spain has nearly 200 countries allowed to travel on its passport. Spain is not part of 5eyes. Spain is not perfect, has stupid tax laws like Australia, Spain got into debt when it was in the black at the request of the IMF just about the same time as Australia did, but it doesn't start wars with it's biggest customer just because the US government asks it to. Every year I get a 'good tax payer' letter from the Aussie government saying that I should exchange my permanent resident visa for an Aussie passport- every year it goes straight in the bin. Now the govt wants to give us lottery tickets so we take the CV19 jab. Bunch of idiots will get no respect from me. Love the country, love the people- despise the government. The only time I will get an aussie passport is as a back up passport if I leave Australia to live in another country.
