Pentel orenz nero 0.2mm oh so fine - long and rambling review

The Pentel Orenz nero, or maybe it's called the Pentel Orenznero, is my new favorite 0.2mm mechanical pencil. It also the only 0.2mm pencil I have, so keep that in mind. I think I had a bit of complaining tone of voice in the second half of the video, so I would like to say that I really like this pencil. It's now one of my favorites. I'm just haven't found the perfect reason for why I bought a 0.2mm version yet. Anyway I hope you manage to enjoy this long, rambling and mildly repetitive review. I go into extreme detail... which is also what this pencil is capable of... right

Thank you for the review, I was very interested in how it would work for drawing, as the soft leads are used up quickly and I have to interrupt the line to pull out more just afraid that the iron tip scratches the paper, is that true?

Great video, I bought one and was checking videos to see if it was normal to have a little bit of the metal lead cover out when you retracted it. I am not an artist so I just went with the 0.5. to be honest the fact that I don't have to press it and that I don't see the leat out is bugging my mind, but I still really like it

I'm Japanese and this pen is popular among Japanese students and they actually do use the 0.2 leads for just the normal classes in school Uni Kura Toga is not thin enough to writing complicated Japanese letters sometimes So the lead protecting mechanical pencil is quite important for them (Orenz means "not break" in Japanese) Anyway I love your opening!

I am in my third Orenz 0.2 - love it - but that’s my third in four years. So basically it breaks after using it for two years…. And I am a gentle user, never dropped it, don’t toss it around… and don’t even use it too much… 😢

22:52 The size of 0.2 mm is good for writing that are characters, like Japanese, Chinese, etc. 0.5 mm is just too wide, and seems to me, Asians write small anyhow, so you need the thin lead so as to not overlap the strokes of the characters. Anyhow, I love your humor.

As someone who had to write traditional chinese characters in high school Mandarin classes…. and used sad dull #2 Ticonderoga pencils… while I understand the sentiment, to claim that you can’t sufficiently write characters with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil is silly. 😆 But yes, something tiny like this is ideal. I like this for drawing complicated architectural drawings/sketches and also wispy cursive letters.

@@word42069 I don't write characters; the characters I'm referring to are letters. I was referring to my own cursive in reference to the 0.5mm, so it's not silly to me. And who says anything about sufficient? Your line can be big and fat for all I care. That's why it's called preference.

Even as an artist, I have no use for any lead size under 0.5. Outside of drafting, such sizes are for show, not for real world use. If you want a thin line, buy a Uni Kura Toga in 0.5. The rotating mechanism in these pencils keeps the lead needle sharp so you can get a 0.3 or even a 0.2 line, while keeping the benefits of a thicker lead, and a better built pencil.

I bought the Roulette in 0.5, and while I really like the rotation mechanism, as a low gripper the distance between the tip and the lowest point where I can comfortably hold the pencil is just too high. This combined with the mushiness of the tip makes it less than ideal for my writing needs. I found the Pentel Sharp Kerry, Rotring 600 and Zebra Delguard LX to be the most comfortable 0.5 pencils I've tried so far. The Delguard's grip section is rather high up the shaft for me as well, but the transparent plastic part below the grip is actually quite comfortable to hold.
