Yeah Timothy Busfield is great, even when he played Poindexter, the guy playing the violin in Revenge of the Nerds. He was awesome at the end of that movie, and he stole every scene in The West Wing. I wish he was around more in this show and in Hollywood in general. Very underrated actor that needs more work!!!

Yes Danny having "lived" an interesting life can see the whole picture. What really gets me is this scene where the Secret Service guy walks in the do a check before leaving CJ to spend the night. They must have been "officially blind" to these events.

Danny always has the patience of Job. If you go back and watch his scenes with CJ in almost every other scene there's a moment where she says something that puts him outside in the back porch again and like the dutiful dog he makes a face and then waits on the stoop. On his haunches. For her to notice him again. I'm not much of a shipper when it comes to any TV series but how they did this romance from start to finish - the subtleties of it and the outrageousness of it. He's got such a puppy face. They're adorable together.

I absolutely love the beginning of this scene. The focus in Danny's eyes on her while the secret service checks his apartment is so intense. Meanwhile she's wavering. She wants him but she's scared to take the next step. Just beautiful acting in the scene. Makes me melt everytime. 😊😍

This man. This man spent...what...7 years? Pursuing the woman he loved and he was so gentle about it. Danny's the kind of guy that if he knew CJ genuinely wasn't interested in him, he'd have backed off, but he knew there was something there, she was just trying to maintain professional boundaries. And how could she not fall in love with him? He's such a good man. God, I love them so much.

This scene is pure poetry. It's like a great musical duet or pas de deux. CJ is enormously smart and capable - used to dealing with gigantic, complex problems in her work - yet simple, honest communication with her partner frightens her. Danny's loving, patient way with her, with a touch of humor, is the perfect foil for her anxiety, and they come together beautifully at the end. I think they could easily have spun off a series featuring the further adventures of CJ and Danny. Instead, I'll just imagine them together still, perfectly happy and in love...

I was driving to a girl's house to pick her up for our 2nd (and what we both figured, last) date. Funny thing happened, though. We exchanged vulnerabilities, and we began talking. Talked for hours. I wound up proposing to her that night. She accepted. Not because we were "in love," but because it simply felt right. This December will be our 40th anniversary, and talking with her is better than just about anything. Yeah, this scene makes me lose it every time.

Whenever I come across such comments, the cynic in me is automatically alerted. That being said, the optimist is never too far away. I contemplated both scenarios, one in which this is proven to be a fiction, and the other in which this is proven to be real. Suffice to say, be it a fiction or not, I couldn't help but be moved by what you wrote. My dad had known my mother for a few years. Then according to her, one day he decided to ask her out. He called her. She refused the first day that he suggested as she had a sports occasion to attend. The second day he suggested as she had another prior arrangement. Sensing that my dad was beginning to lose confidence, she explained that as captain of her team, her calendar was full till the next Monday. They went out that Monday, and again the Tuesday and Wednesday. By the weekend, they knew that they would be married. They were friends for over 60 years and married for over 50 of them. My mother tells me this story about once a month now. Dad died 14 years ago next July. This scene reminds me of that.

My mom was paid by her brother to go out with my dad. My dad and uncle were best of friends and my uncle wanted to date a girl in the worst possible way (this is 1945/6) but her mom refused as my uncle was a bit of a player, or whatever they called them. If he could get my dad and another girl to go, the girl's mother was ok with them going out. My dad was engaged to, yet, another girl going to school at a nearby college but she wasn't coming home that weekend. It was just a local high school football game and after trying in vain to find another girl my uncle was down to my mom! Now when my dad walked in her front door, mom walked out the back. She could not stand the sight of the man. Why? She couldn't say. She just couldn't. Uncle John offered her $2 and she didn't have to sit with dad or have anything to do with him. They went to the game then out for a burger. Neither of the guys had a car so they walked John 's date home then Dad walked John and my Mom home. Once they got there he asked her, "If I were to ask you out again would you go?" Mom mumbled, "I guess." And on the strength of that mumble he walked to his fianceé's house, wrote the girl a note, left it with her mother and went home! The next day Dad called Mom and invited her to his office Christmas party. It took him close to 3 years to get her to the altar but when she passed away they were married just a few months shy of 50 years and we rarely if ever heard them utter a really cross word to each other. (You might wonder about my uncle and his date. Nothing came of it but Dad's fianceé went on to marry the guy SHE was seeing at college that my dad didn't know about!

Man, I can never get over the chemistry that these two actors have. He spent the whole series pursuing her, subtly and slowly because he didn't want to spook her. You can't plan for perfect. Nobody does. You plan for really, really good. And every once in a great while, all the really, really good parts come together and make perfect. It's so rare. This was one of those moments. The writing, the actors, the camera work, and the long story of their relationship, only possible in long run television, land smack dab in the middle it Danny's apartment, and its perfect.

When Danny says 'what else?' are the writers intentionally echoing Bartlet's 'what next?' ? Danny is going to be Mr Cj and also her President from now on!

More likely she'll be his president. There's little doubt who'll be the dominant partner in that relationship.

I even love the sincerity in his "thank you" to the secret service at the beginning of the scene. Maybe I'm reading too far into it, but I feel like he's thanking them for making sure his apartment (and each new place) is safe for CJ.

Everything Allison tells us with just her eyes! First, while she waits for the security agent to leave. Then, when Danny tells her that he "just wants to talk," you can see how a woman like her, who runs an entire country, gives in, is even willing to give more than Danny wants, and even begs for help. .. only with his eyes.

Over the previous four years I would seem to watch TWW over and over. The writing always got me. The funny scenes always got me. But this scene I come back to often. Now that TWW is not on Netflix anymore I am happy every now and then these scenes pop up. This one gets me every time. Wrapping up the lives of both of them was so good. Danny's performance steals the show here. You could feel the actors make this scene special. Both acted so good, you were right there with Danny, and you were right there with the venerable CJ. It almost was worth a spin off with those two. I was married in my previous life as a male to my wife for 11 years. Communication never was this good. I am happier though and would have not changed a thing. Life would have been so much more different if communication was forefront but I was married 6 months right out of high school to my high school sweetheart. She was two years younger then me. It was strange being married at 18 and she was 16 lucky with no kids. Idaho was like that then in 1989. I do not know how we survived before having kids, and I would have been married 32 years if we were still together. Even before I changed to my True Self when I saw this scene in particular it always got to me. Always. I am very happy the internet will never let me down when I want to come back to a tear jerker. Every now and then you need it to kick you back into play.

I think it was this scene that made CJ a perfect character for me. I think your favorite characters have to have things that they are great at, some character faults that make them relatable, and something that they suck at so bad that they are made vulnerable by it.

I think that is oart of the point. She has been hearing "What's next?" for nine years. By having him say "What else?" it is breaking that cycle and showing that her life really IS going to be different now--that they will build a new one together with their OWN way of talking.
