What's great is that on the floor (right next to the flashlight) is the glowstick, an item that literally never goes out and in my opinion surpasses the flashlight in functionality in every way. They didn't get very far in any other Penumbra game that would have allowed them to instantly recognize it as an iconic / key item though so I guess it's forgivable. IMO the item should have just been in your inventory from the start.

I checked some else's let's play of the game (because this one was so weak) and even though the glowstick was used in penumbra, when you examine it in this game it says it doesn't work anymore. Still he didn't even bother to examine a neon green object on the floor that just happened to be a glow stick... The thing is that Pat went into this game with a "Oh I don't like these types of games" attitude and was half assing it all the way because he knew he didn't have to finish the game. So for anyone that has no idea what the fuck is going on with this story since the fan who made this didn't exactly do a fantastic job of explaining how you got to the "3rd" game in a series that was 2 games long, here's the deal. Spoilers if you give a damn. The player searches for their dad(who ultimately turns up dead, big surprise I know), ending up in a cave that leads into a facility. They become infected over the course of the game which is where the voice "Clarence" (Who names himself after Clarence from "It's a Wonderful Life", referring to himself as a guardian angel) comes from. During this, you're being chased around by naked umbilical cord equipped monsters as you go further into the facility, while Clarence fucks with your senses mainly so he can laugh at you. You communicate with another human(Swanson), and eventually make your way to where she was staying(The room with the box attached to the pulley), but instead of finding her you get ambushed by a monster which you ultimately kill by dropping the box on it's head, only to realize that Clarence fucked with your head to make you see Swanson as a monster so you just ended up killing her accidentally. You find a way to get get the virus out of your body using the machine they came across from the beginning of this game, transferring Clarence into a monster body that you have to run away from. You get stopped by the other monsters, who also stop and kill Clarence(the corpse outside the starting room of this game) since he's not part of the hive mind collective of monsters. The Hive Mind brings you into some trippy world (2:45) where it tests your abilities as a human, where it ultimately decides that you're worthy of helping it by sending a message on the computer to tell everyone upside to fuck off and leave it in peace. The game ends with the player sending a message telling whoever he's sending it to, to come down and kill everything that moves.

Well from my astronomy class Penumbra can mean two things: The shadow cast by the earth or moon over an area experiencing a partial eclipse or the Lighter outer region of a sunspot surrounding the darker core. Beyond that I think it is something to do with how a shadow is cast by an opaque object rather than a solid object because it creates a semi-shadowy area or something that has a different term than just "shadow".

Isn't this a modded sequel for Penumbra Black Plague? The areas seem very familiar. Anyway it was an odd choice to play this instead of like, actual series so you'd know what the fuck is going on.

+FelineRed Yeah, the area is the final area in the game before you get infected by the turngate. Black Plague ends with you writing the letter at the computer.

Why didn't you guys just play Black Plague? You'd actually have context for what's going on and it's easily the best in the Penumbra series. Why skip it? You said it yourself "I feel like I'm in the final area of another game" You totally are yo!

I read the title and was like "Is that a real video game?" and then immediately I am told "No this is a fake ass video game." *Questions answered in a timely fashion. Play **_Penumbra: Black Plague_** already. Then completely ignore Requiem because its not a horror game whatsoever, and might not even be a 'game'.*

Just so you guys know- Penumbra is the lighter part of a shadow, basically. It is like using the word 'twilight'. It also gets used a lot when there is a partial eclipse. It is the shadow when the moon eats half of the sun.
