I love your style of videos and the explanation is super clear, I'd love to see more of those! Especially I'm interested in how to create the initial poses and keyframes, so that I can push pixels from there

Thank you! And I'm planning a video all about keyframes/poses and how important they are to animating, should be a good one!

Really awesome tutorial as always, you make animations that look complicated to make but in the tutorial it always seem simpler than I thought, keep it up pen

Hey Pen, awesome video as always. It's amazing to watch you so effortlessly put something so good together. Question for you - if you wanted this guy to use multiple types of weapons, how would you do that? I'm wondering how you'd break up animations / sprites since making full animations for the guy with any number of weapons doesn't sound like the right approach
@Penusbmic6 ай бұрын
Hey Erik! Thanks, and if the studio has the money/time, doing custom animations for each weapon would be super pleasing but you're right, it's not the best approach. I see many studios just have an attack animation with no weapon, then add a single sprite sword in engine that follows the swing motion. This works well for weapons of the same weight/style but once you get into axes/large swords you'd want a slightly heavier attack animation, etc I'm a sucker for graphics and animations so I'd probably hand draw each one xD but yea that's not the most efficient thing haha

Hey man, Just wanna say, love your videos. I do a little pixel art in my small breaks in my mundane office job and it really chills me out to learn from you. I really like your style a lot for characters (the 4 chickens from your stream so far are my absolute favourite). This tutorial is just so simple yet the effect is so fantastic

Every time you say highlight, you meant select. The action is select. Highlight is the visual feedback that the selection changed. You’re conflating an action with a notification that it occurred.

Hey man! Could you please do a tutorial on top down environmental sprites? Things like trees, rocks, and cliffs? I have been looking for tutorials and stuff that have a similar style to you and hyper light drifter, but I can't find any. Thanks dude!

Wow, just quick question is your character sprites in 16 or 8 bit? Because despite the sprite size it seems to have a lot natural fluidity on them. Nevertheless instant sub 👍

Remember that if you use MacOS and you have an iPad with an iPencil, you can use it as a tablet to draw in aseprite! You just connect the iPad via USB (or Wifi, but I suppose there will be some latency) and use it as an external screen. It can be done in Windows too with some additional software but I haven't managed to do it yet.
