I have lived here since 2000. I fell in love with Austin after coming here for a weekend. I was living in downtown within a couple of months. It was great back then. Loving the down town vibe life here and live music. But now it’s completely unaffordable and the crime has shot up. I now live an hour outside of Austin but I’m still struggling so as soon as I get thru cancer treatments I’m relocating back to Ohio

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing. First off, thoughts and prayers go out to you for your cancer treatment 🙏🏼 And yes, there are some profound issues with our city at the moment, and I’m hoping our cities leadership can step up and do what is the best interest of our awesome residents!

Just move to San Antonio. Very purple here, socially liberal and fiscally conservative. It's a blue collar town, nobody cares who you are or how you live your life. Just be friendly and mind your business. Plus, San Antonio has the infrastructure that Austin doesn't. The entire southside of the city is mostly undeveloped, it's just now starting to be built in. So, there are lots of brand new homes, apartments, and condo communities. San Antonio is the 'forgotten city' when people think of moving to Texas, even though it's the oldest city in all of Texas. Austin is only two hours away if you really want to go up there, but I'd wager that once you settled into SA you'll wrinkle your nose at the idea. I say military city all the way. The food, the parks, the venues, the sports, and most importantly the people. Come on down and spend the weekend. I guarantee you'll at least look at listings online, and with a smile on your face.

The San Antonio Auto Theft map shown by the Police Recently on local news was just a big blob of red dots. Amost 20,000 cars stolen and from every single part of they city. Surprisingly enough they mostly go straight to Mexico.

Thanks for the constructive criticism, brother! And thanks for stopping by and commenting ☺️ I’m not sure if you live in the Austin area or not - but it is definitely true that, when you leave the central city core, it can be very conservative. I’m not here to say if it’s right or wrong that people leave because of that. But I literally know dozens and dozens of people who have left Austin because it is not, the liberal utopia they were hoping it would be. And yes, many have left because of many Trump supporters in their area. And I’m always trying to make better videos! So, let me know any ideas you have. I’m all ears!

I think it's a reason, if that's why people are leaving. And i could fathom WHY they are leaving, when dealing with folks who can't come to terms with the fact that what could very well have been a fascist luckily didn't get the second term that he so claimed was in the bag. (Wasn't he supposed to move away if that happened? If he ever kept his word, maybe he could take his constituents and could replace that reason on the list)

don’t get it wrong, it’s liberal for a conservative state. Don’t think it’s very accepting of people of different ethnicities. I was intimidated over and over again in Austin by people I barely knew. It’s a good place to be white for sure. They say it’s diverse but most of the diversity is made up of mexicans and they’re pretty colorist so it’s not a “high culture” society. I like seeing mix of middle eastern, african, asian, and western and eastern european people like you see around washington dc. that’s where i’m moving.

Traffic in Austin is going to be forever screwed. It took me 2 hours to get from 2222 and Mopac to S. Lamar and Ben White. That's when I knew it was time to move. There's no infrastructure, the good ol' "if we don't build it, they won't come" idea. It wasn't built, and they came anyway. 😂 It'll take three generations before that city settles from the growth spurt.
