This young man is the most underrated guitarist ever. Edit: Let me explain what I mean by underrated. This young man has written some of the most amazing rock music ever. Yet everyone still talks about Morrison. Even himself in an interview has admitted he does not get the credit as in their first two albums were accredited to The Doors and everyone thought that Morrison wrote them. This young man should be at the in the public consciousness at the same level as lennon and McCartney, Jagger and Richards.

As Ray Manzarek once said, "Robby is our secret weapon." A few things that people have to understand about The Doors dynamics is this: Jim was the moody, cerebral. poetic, exceptionally good looking lead singer who had an unparalleled stage presence. However, he was accompanied by two genius bandmates in Robby Kreiger on guitar and Ray Manzarek on organ/bass. Additionally, John Densmore was an exceptionally good drummer. The Doors selling points insofar as their record label was concerned in the late 60's was their incredible music and Jim's charismatic persona. Robby's, Ray's, and John's personalities fit well with this, though this tended to obscure their contributions to the overall creative genius that was The Doors. After all, Robby did write "Light My Fire," "Touch Me," "Love Her Madly," "Spanish Caravan," et al. Bottom line is this: The Doors were never a group who let their egos get in the way of collectively coming together and producing great music. And we have this to be very thankful for.

Yes! Too bad they couldn't keep jim grounded just a little longer.
@hmpz369114 жыл бұрын
They had very different personalities. Robbie was the laid back dude that anyone could get along with. Jim was the mixed bag of nuts. Ray was the "sophisticated intellectual". John seemed on edge, or uncomfortable with the wildness that came with being in the group.
@Pimp-Master3 жыл бұрын
Jim had enough charisma to last a couple hundred years. Do you realize that teens still fall in love with the guy who didn't live past 27 and sang in a totally different language than the countries he's still popular in, (South America)? Well, somebody had to fill that order I suppose.

In my humble opinion, Krieger is a refined composer. He managed to invent a musical genre, with deadly riffs that still displace us today. I am always mesmerized by his guitar counterpoint in when the music's over. The real musician composes! and it doesn't just run with pentatonic stairs. Thanks again for your contribution Mr Krieger!
@troglodyteproductions22114 жыл бұрын
Matthew Lawton , I think what this guy was trying to say is that they used more than just the pentatonic... you seem to have completely missed the point, don’t be an ass.
@ing_MB4 жыл бұрын
@@troglodyteproductions2211 I just wanted to say that krieger you invested in creativity and composition rather than technique. the songs of the Doors are very accurate on the melodic part unlike other bands that invest a lot on the speed of execution and the rhythm. The Doors: ingenious melodies and riffs... each song of them is something unique. I believe it is one of the most charismatic band ever

I was lucky enough to meet Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek at the Cask & Cleaver restaurant in Palm Springs around 79 or 80,,,, we had a great conversation about stories about the Doors and later that evening, Ray gave me a red satin type cloth Doors poster they both signed.. a proud possession.. years later when I got back from the Marines only to find my Mother had thrown out that poster, my drum set and a leslie amplifier but I was mostly pissed about the poster..... it's awesome to see him take the time teaching everyone how to play the Doors stuff.. my story is only to confirm how nice and genuine they were back then as well.....

This is joyful yet sad for me. When I was about 13 years old in 1966. I began guitar lessons. I learned using the MEL BAY system and moved along pretty well. After a year and a half of playing Mary had a little lamb and other moving melodies I quit. Perhaps I acted too soon but I had to get out. Throughout my life I've often thought about that decision and wondered what if I had to stuck with it. At least I know there will never be anyone like THE DOORS
