I blame Tony Blair. Since 1997 and his election he changed a lot about British politics and culture and not for the better and we are seeing the consequences of his disastrous policies. This include the war in Iraq, mass immigration, various equality policies, mass overspending in the public sector, changing the House of Lords, house prices increasing massively, and much much more.

Interesting to hear that from this side of the Pond, since that is a growing sentiment over here: we need a third party to counter the Demonrats and the Republican'ts. There's always been that sentiment; however, it's gaining ground. Nobody can quite agree on which party should best represent that sentiment, though it's nowhere as bad as the "balkanization" of other countries *cough*Canada*cough*. Still, most of us, even those of us who have aligned ourselves politically with a (somewhat) viable third party since 1975, still feel that a vote for said third party is a vote wasted, and so we vote for what we are now faced with: conservative or communist. That's like voting for the lessor of 2 evils; the choice is still evil.

As the US Army once pointed out: "Civilisation is the terminal phase of a culture." its the beginning of the end of the story. Usually the problem is too much success. Its akin to the Mouse Utopia, a social version of biological overshoot. Some see it coming and prepare or get out. Others run with the Lemmings.

The irony is that the country was the first to move decisively to the cultural right and yet could be about to get the most leftist government. The Tories still have time to pull this around as does The Reform Party to make a difference. Whatever happens, it is unlikely to be anything but a big mess for the next 5-10 years. However, the movement in the public sentiment is all in one direction and it is very difficult to see how this can be reversed. We can be assured that once we have another Labour government the globalist establishment will continue to do all it can to keep it in power. The good news is that short of an economic miracle or the banning of elections it is difficult to see how a Labour government can stay popular for very long or quite how much more damage the Labour Party can do. Why fear a return to the EU when the EU is rapidly falling apart? Why fear more globalism when that is also falling apart along with the EU? Are the Labour Party planning on providing the boats and free air tickets necessary to encourage even more 3rd Worlders to come to the UK? Perhaps surprisingly the British working class become more emboldened to protest when there is a Labour government in office, therefore this may end end being a good thing. There is also the remote possibility that Starmer may become more conservative than the Conservative Party, which would not be in any way difficult. If so then good luck to him. IMO, a future Labour government will not be able to offer a single improvement even if it wishes to do so as the UK has effectively had a New Labour government in power since Thatcher was deposed. The fact remains that what the people want ultimately matters, whoever is in No10. What governments can get away with when the economic winds are favourable and living standards are rising in one thing, when not it is quite another. What the people want indeed all that they have ever wanted is popularism. In other words, a government dedicated to serving the interests of the people and the country as a whole. All national governments are supposed to be both popular and nationalist whatever name they give themselves. The age of divisive political ideology is DEAD in the hearts and minds of the people. Leftwing and rightwing have become meaningless terms that serve no future purpose.
