The reason why some attractive women end up with average looking men lies in the fact that women find a much smaller percentage of members of the opposite sex attractive. If men view a lot of women as attractive but women view a few men attractive, there won’t be a looks match for everyone. So some will have to date a less attractive person.

I don't really think it's people purposefully dating their looksmatch. But more a matter of realizing that someone within your own league is the most you're going to get, with minimal effort. If you're going to date someone more attractive, you obviously won't be able to score with your looks, since you're less attractive. Ergo, you would have to impress with other qualities, intelligence, humour, success, attention. Of course, all of that requires a lot of effort. A person who's on your level will require only slightly more effort than someone who is less attractive than you, while offering you a greater level of desirability. Personally, it's why i don't get dating. It seems to me like dating and relationships are fundamentally transactional and about who gets more out of the other person. I don't really get their use, if you don't have much of a desire for children. You can get everything a partner provides from other sources, without the possibility of being used or discarded.

I don't think its fair to compare "attractive" female celebrities and their more "average" looking male partners because these women are always looking their best with a whole team dedicated to them. Their looks are an investment. So of course they look more beautiful but with a bare face they would still be beautiful but a more realistic beauty. Celebrity males also have a whole team behind them but in our society its normal for a man to not have a full makeup glam look or any makeup at all. I don't agree, sorry 😐. I've seen irl very attractive women with ugly males, but the man has money or status or both. And vice versa, I've known and witnessed average to below average looking women with above average handsome chads for boyfriends and in rare cases husbands. But here's the downfall of all that. The partner or significant other winds up cheating on their average to below average looking partners eventually, and sometimes the ugly partner, mostly men cheat on their beautiful wives or girlfriends. I think it's best when it comes to couples, try to match lookswise within your league. Let the real hot ones have each other and other normal average looking folks be together. Because when someone is prettier than their partner, especially with ugly men, the ugly guy's ego is boosted and he thinks or feels he can land any tens beautiful women. It's false ego tho. This is true in theory but in practice not so much. Because one gigantic factor was not considered: female hypergamy. A study took a group of fat obese women, showed they dating profiles of fat obese men (i.e., their level), all the fat ladies were repulsed and chose the dating profiles of the chads. Because modern women overinflate their market value, even 3/10 women only want 9/10 men (I WON'T SETTLE!).
