Absolutely love what and how you play. So utterly soulful and musical. I’ve been playing this tune for years and always love experimenting with different voicing. I was taught this beautiful tune by none other than a fine gentleman the late great Rocco Salvatore “Fuzzy” Fuscaldo. Fuzz was from Chicago and had the fortune of playing in the band with Curtis for a number of years. He learned so much from Curtis and never stop talking about his experience and how much he had grown. I played bass in a band in LA California USA called Wonderlick for 15 years and I was able to bring Fuzzy in for a good portion of that time. Fuzzy and I were like brothers and spent much of our lives together until his passing. Fuzzy taught me so much about touch and tenderness on the guitar. I was so fortunate to have the experience of playing bass in a burning rhythm section behind Fuzzy and his burning solos. It’s such a blessing to have found you and your beautiful playing and teaching method. I’m 77 and still searching. You have truly inspired me to revive my playing and how I play it. Thank you sir. I’m in. FL Cloud 9 Samba by Freddy Lopez on KZbin. Please enjoy. 🎶🌈

@Ben-Ken4 ай бұрын
@@neilritson7445 I think triads are the key. Just focus on 3 note sections at a time. Right now, I will find a slow backing track with 1 or 2 chords. I'd Rather Go Blind / Tennessee Whiskey for example. I play the chord on the "1" and then play a piece of the major scale or pentatonic underneath that chord until the "1" comes around again. Just play a single note or two to keep the timing until you can find the notes quickly enough to play more notes or add some flourish between the chords. By doing this in different areas of the neck, I'm able to connect the triads and scales across the neck.

I love this song ever since I heard it with Eva Cassidy and this arrangement reminds me about that version of this song. I developed som strange pain in my left thumb so today I play mostly in open G tuning. I think it would work pretty ok in open G focusing on the important notes and put in some easy slide guitar notes here and there and mostly concentrate on the singing.

Alex, you hit it out of the park on this one. One of my favorite songs i love the original Curtis mayfield version and the one that Jeff Beck did with Rod Stewart. I'm going to get started on this half and maybe be ready when part two comes out. Your lessons have added to my repertoire and my counterpart whom plays bass and rhythm guitar (la pompe) loves alot of these tunes also as we try and play swinging numbers which people love of all ages. Your style is not just refreshing but it's got soul and tone. The older i got the more clean i played as there is so much warmth and feeling to clean jazzy tones. Plus, my hair is shorter and i no longer play metal like i did in the 80's lol. Ttyl mate. tom from maine.

Just watching and listening... Around 4:45, I see you use vibrato on a string and wonder why, because its a note you're passing through. Moments later, you explain, seemingly as if in response to my musing - and without referring specifically to the vibrato - that it's important reframe the D from the Bm since both scales are the same. And I see that the vibrato note is a D. The information in this tutorial is packed in tight, yet goes down as smooth as the sounds of Curtis Mayfield's excellent tune. You have my respect and thanks, Alex. Great preparation and a superb lesson. 🙇♂
