Love Pep but he’s single-handedly destroying the City side. The attackers have no confidence bc every time the misplace a pass they know it could lead to a conceded goal. Why? Bc Pep refuses to put any player in the MF with recovery pace who won’t get bullied off the ball and Pep’s refusal to drop his suicidally high backline (while inverting 1 defender, no less) means that the defense is almost always caught out when countered. And that’s just from the defensive issues in the team infecting the attackers When you look at the attack itself, Peps ultra slow buildup allows opposition teams all the time in the world to reset their shape, flood the box and suck out the space that Haaland would normally have (think back to his time at Salzburg, BvD or even City in the treble season) thereby making exponentially more difficult to score. To compound matters more, Pep is directing his wingers inside. Why on Warth is he doing that as it makes it even more difficult for them to operate in and try to get something to Haaland. As for Haaland himself, yeah he’s been poor lately. 100%. No denying it and I would love to see Pep actually utilize Haaland’s skill sets more, but if you’ve been watching the City games, how often does he make runs and is just ignored? How frustrating must it be for him having to deal with Doku who is like ASM? Or the level of frustration that Pep is refusing to even allow the team to play to some of his strengths which might even go a long way in helping the attack by scoring a few goals. The idiots who expect Haaland to dribble like R9 or Drogba or T Henry are being completely disingenuous as Haaland has never been that kind of striker. But if you go back his days at BvD, he was pretty good on the ball driving in on goal from outside the box. Problem is, Pep’s absurd system doesn’t allow for any of that and has turned Haaland into a 1 dimensional threat. Again, love Pep but he is the single biggest problem at City. You put Haaland in Chelsea’s or LFC or even Tot team with the way they play and how fast their transitions are, Haaland would be crushing it in those system. The one that Pep has designed this season completely hamstring him along with the players ignoring him most of the time, it’s a lose lose for him. But he’s also not helping himself as it seems like there is more he could do, but given how rigid Pep is, not quite sure he’d be allowed to do it.

Fowler? He never had a single season in his career of scoring more than 30 league goals in a season, unlike Haaland who did that in his first season in the Premier League. Just because a player is going through a bad period doesn't mean their level is not elite.
