The cognitive dissonance is absolutely insane to watch. The authoritarian Russian dictatorship is the closest thing we have to fascism from World War II in the world today. Maybe North Korea and Iran come somewhat close as well but both of those have a much stronger religious combination whereas Russia today is almost identical to fascism from Italy and Germany in World War II. Yet these Russians somehow think that a sovereign democratic Ukraine, fighting for the right to exist and just be able to trade with Europe and the West and make a alliances to defend their nation State is somehow fascism. I don’t know how these people get around the mental gymnastics. I’m assuming they just don’t understand the basic definition of fascism, they have years of being indoctrinated by disinformation, lies, propaganda, and conspiracy theories from State television.

All Spaniards I met, from the right to the left, said "we do this to earn points" in London and/or Washington. Everyone was quite cynical. In England, everyone I met thought the invasion was right, in principle, although some people argued that it couldn't be done against obvious opposition from other trustworthy countries. @Bazovie_svodki_s_frotov I saw when Russia invaded Crimea in 2014. As if that was not enough, Putin decided a full scale invasion of Ukraine is needed. As far as I am concerned Russia is the bully here. Even if Putin is worried that NATO is in his back yard, all he has to do his point his nuclear weapons towards NATO, that enough will be enough to discourage any planned NATO invasion if there was one. No, he instead chose to invade a smaller neighbor calling it a "special military operation" And why do you guys still allow him to be ruling your country since 1999. Lev, 19, student, says, "This is fucked up. You can't be hitting civilians with rockets." Has Lev not seen what his nation's military has been doing to Ukrainian civilians these last 2 years and 6 months? Has he not seen the countless apartment buildings, hospitals, and schools that have been blown up by Russian missiles and drones? Has he not seen the mass graves, in which civilians were thrown with their arms zip tied behind their backs? "This is a blatant act of provocation," he says. Sadly, he says this about the nation fighting for its right to exist, not the naked aggression and blatantly murderous actions of Putin and the Russian army. And that he says this while wearing a NY Yankees baseball cap makes it all the more absurd. Wake up, Lev. Wake up, Russia.
