"Youth isn't inherently bad. It's all about execution. A young whisky, if done right, maybe it's 5 years, 8 years, whatever, it can be a killer." ~Geoff So close Geoff, so damn close to greatness. [utube algorithm has entered the chat] Right..., the whisky. This one has been on my 'buy list' for this year. Local store has plenty in stock. Oban 14 is one of my favorites, and I just re-affirmed the same for Talisker 10 last night. If those are your comparisons for this, ...well damn, I guess I should have already bought this already.

I have not tried AD. I haven't tried the AD/02.22 Cask Strength. I don't know how to spell Ardnamerck...Ardnumirk...Aardnamm...I don't know how to spell it. I did see a bottle of it once on a shelf, but passed it up for Royal Brackla because I really like sherry finished scotch more than peated whisky. I missed the smooth ride on the hype train. 😢 I'm compelled now to pick up an AD bottle in the future. Great video as always, and the title screen game is still strong! Also, good to know you're human and spill occasionally like the rest of us. You're not some crazy deep fake whisky reviewing robot created in a Southeast Asian lab. So far as we know.🤨

Yo G, once again, you nailed it, knocked it out of the park with your review!!! Your humour is absolutely fabulous!!! And the spot was there and then it wasn't there and smooth ride sounded more like Detroit than Taiwan but what do I really know about Taiwan.....I had been suggested to get this by the Malt Activist as he thought it and the Bunnahabhain 12 CS were both better than the Glen Scotia Victoriana which got the award that he thought someone else should have. Tasting this with you I understand his feelings but I'm still glad Victoriana won cuz I voted for it. My goodness man, you are on the opposite side of the world and i would love the sip some good drams with you! You're alright in my book. Enjoy

Totally agree, Cecil. This and the Bunna 12 CS are leagues ahead of the VIctoriana! I like Victoriana more than Malt Activist, although perhaps less than you, but for me stuff like this and the Bunna are among the best CS whiskies out there at the moment. Cheers! 🥃

So glad I pulled the trigger on this one! To me, it delivers everything I was looking for when I bought it. I find it so...balanced in its complexities. No note tugs at another; nose, palate, finish...everything works together quite harmoniously. Clean, fresh, and lively but also packed with plenty of depth and heft. At times I detect an earthy funkiness but also cannot ignore a sweet and dark presence (esp after it's been in the glass a bit). Just like the dynamic, ranging notes on the nose and palate, the finish blows my mind: at the back end of the finish a second-coming of a gentle, warming, comfortably smoldering smoke rears up--it blooms more in the finish than on the palate. This stuff's rather serious, but if it did comedy, it would specialize in satire. I think I better stop now! Typically solid review, Geoff. Love it when the juice lives up to the hype!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one, Geoff. Fanboy here as well. I bought a 02.22 and don't normally open them straight away but after I did, I bought another whilst I could. I've also bought the AD and didn't enjoy it as much, similar just missing abit more for me. I've bought a 09.22 recently and although I've only just finished my AD, I'm picking up my 2nd of the 09.22 tomorrow as I believe they have used slightly more percentage of peated whisky in this release than others. It's in the right ball park value wise. Excellent stuff whether it's young or not. Also as a Christmas present to myself I bought a Cadenhead Sherry cask 6 yr Ardnamurchan. I'm not into Sherried whisky at all but it was absolutely lovely stuff.

Spot on Geoff. This is a lovely whisky. And it is a beautiful distillery to visit as well. Lovely people making spectacular whisky. The distillate shines through and you can taste the quality of both the spirit and the casks despite their apparent youth. I cannot wait for their age statement releases! Cheers!

I heard opinions Ardna CS's could be an alternative for SB 12. Never had chance to try this 12CS so dont know. My tip for any next review is Lum Reek 10 CS Batch 1 or 2. This mix of peat and sherry could be your cup of tea i guess? And one more: Old Perth CS i heard is lovely sherried whisky at bargain price. Slàinte 😁🥂🙋🏻♂️

I keep hearing about the Lum Reek release. I'd like to try it, but it's one of those bottles that's oddly overpriced here in Taiwan compared to it's western price tag. As for the Old Perth...
