As an adult who was, indeed, abused as a child, this is actually extremely accurate. The piano melody creates such a dichotomy, incorporating peaceful elements, but with an underlying tension…then, the sharp percussion perforating the notes is almost violently jarring, but somehow still flows, keeping in perfect tempo. This piece reminds me of a flashback of childhood trauma, of a thin, fragile illusion of peace, appearing content on a surface level while balancing on eggshells. The memory continues, engulfing you, and the sharpest pieces begin to fall into place. Piercing through the false portrayals of happiness that you now can recognize was a lie all along, an act upheld to shield your mind from the pain and the bitter stings of betrayal. The two tones that are set are cacophonic and unsettling, feeling like they should oppose each other…until you realize they’re in tempo with each other. Perfectly aligned. That mask of calm was always devised to conceal what was underneath. Not by you, but by your abuser. Because they couldn’t afford to have someone see what horrors lay beneath the surface. Except you knew. You saw. You felt everything. And now, it’s all on repeat, over and over again, a never-ending melody. (Sorry, I got really into this interpretation. Thanks for humoring me and my silly little ramble.)

I like their sense of composition personally feel their mixing feels a little bit amateurish however lots of it is focused into the mids and mid highs, which gives it a stuffy feeling there's also some frequency voids which makes things feel a little empty if they eqed some elements highs up or added some other instruments/sound design to fill up those gaps, it would sound really really good though the nice thing is that those changes aren't so hard to do really" Keep going man !

This song feels like something whimsical and bittersweet. The drums, however, makes it frantic in an unsettling manner. Sorrows of Yesterday, the original expanded in this video as Hopes of Tomorrow, was much more subdued and calm in it's manner, lacking the aforementioned instrument. And yet, Hopes of Tomorrow includes not only a faster version of the original, but also many more notes that complement it beautifully. I would love to use these songs somehow somewhere someday. If you ever make a version of them about the "Present", I will be delighted to listen to it since it would have to be a middle ground between the two songs. The drums hurts my hearing quite a bit, but that's just the nature of breakcore when it comes to my brain interpreting the sound.
