TAMARA, 25, and Farhaan, 27, come from two very different backgrounds but have found love together. The couple first met through hockey, Tamara elaborated: "[We] were eventually put on the same adult hockey team. So we had each other on social media and we started messaging. And through messaging, we realised that we both actually had a crush on each other for quite a few years in secret." They held back because of their separate religions, (Tamara is Christian and Farhaan is Muslim) however, their feelings developed and the pair finally got together five years later. The couple got married in August 2021 and had two weddings - one Muslim, and one Western/Christian, along with multiple Pakistani wedding events to supplement the ceremonies. Day-to-day they support each other's faiths, "every Sunday I go to church with Tamara. I just sit there and listen to the sermon," Farhaan said. Every week Tamara joins her husband to go to Jummah - the Friday prayer at the mosque. She explained: "I don't participate in any form of prayer or worship there. I typically sit in the back and I listen." They are active on social media, and since sharing their story online they have received an intense level of backlash. Trolling comments include: "Imagine thinking getting married to a terrorist as a personality." "I hope you will be in hell." "You enjoy being oppressed. He'll show his true colours one day and you'll regret it all." Worried about convincing his parents, Farhaan initially researched the permissibility before telling them about Tamara. "My family didn't want me to marry a Christian. It's not something that's usually done in our community, so they don't really know about it and how it works," he said. "So when I really told my mom, she went into shock because I never talked about girls, so that in itself was news to her. And then when I told her that it was someone that wasn't a Muslim, she went into even more shock. She had a bunch of concerns." In this episode of Love Don't Judge, the unlikely couple sit down with Farhaan's mom to ask if she's come to finally accept their marriage.

Loved this! I’m Palestinian-Bulgarian from a mixed Muslim-Christian family. "Where are you from?" is always a difficult question for me to answer. I’ve never felt fully accepted in either the Bulgarian or Arab community and sometimes I've encountered racism and stereotypes about my background. Being mixed has its challenges, but in recent years I've come to appreciate the beauty of it. I realized that being mixed is one of the main reasons why I get along so well with different people, regardless of how different they are to me, where they come from, how they think and which religion they follow. Being mixed is a true blessing that makes a more well-rounded and tolerant human being.

Hey man as a Bulgarian myself I just thought I’d share this. It depends on the area you’re in from what I’ve seen. The older generation can be quite judgmental but a lot of people (I guess 50 and younger) are quite accepting in the middle area (stara zagora). I’ve seen it with my friends when they come over and also with my neighbour there who married a man from Israel. Her grandma was the only one skeptical at first but now they love him and he’s a really good guy. I can see the barriers you face and I just wanna say well done on pushing past it. I hope your confidence is sky high now after pushing past it and if you have any questions let me know

Good for them. It's nice that they accept each other as they are without the pressure or ultimatum to convert. I personally wouldn't marry out because my religion is super important to me and I want a guy who shares my religion and culture. My parents were different religions; my mum Catholic and my dad Jewish. They loved each other very much but it caused problems especially with my dad's family. It's complicated when kids are involved. I was raised in my mother's faith but never identified with Catholism and felt more connected to my Jewish side. I decided to become officially Jewish in my early 20s and it's the best thing ever. I love being Jewish. From my own experience I wouldn't marry out though as it's important to me to maintain a Jewish life and it's hard to do that with a partner who isn't Jewish. I don't judge people who do marry out though. Love is love and as long as couples have honest and open conversations with one another about their future and how they'll raise their children, it's nobody else's business.

@@MajorAntiLucifer97 Okay 😆 Well, i guess we 7 people are just "triggered" 😏 I just love how people *NOWdays* use that word as soon as someone says something they don't like or agree with, instead of using it when someone is aggressive or offensive. I guess you just find it *completely* normal to go around telling random people your irrelevant preferences when it's not about you, and you aren't even being asked 😆🙈 Good for you 👏😆

Some people in the comment section are noooot well, no one is going to hell. My parents definitely did not share the same beliefs - my mom was a "Christian" when it was convenient and my dad was a closeted athiest lmao. They raised me to make the decision for myself when I got older on what I wanted to believe in. Funnily enough everyone in my family has hit one end or the other with their beliefs as a result. Nothing wrong with that, ultimately even if you raise a kid with one religion doesn't mean they're going to stick to it in adulthood.

Algumas vezes importa sim, porque muitas religiões não são apenas religiões, são estilos de vida. Sem contar que muitos parceiros gostam de julgar o outro ou tentam mudar o outro a todo custo.

For everyone wondering why it’s a big deal probably because in the Christian religion in the Bible it talks about not being “unequally yoked.” I’m sure other religions feel the same obviously.

It is permissible for a muslim man to marry a Christian or a jew but a muslim woman cannot marry anyone other than a muslim.. theres nothing wrong in it as far as the couple is happy and they dont have any influence over ones religion..Islam is a beautiful religion..

I don’t know why they would marry each other. As a Protestant Christian you’re not supposed to marry anyone outside of Christ.

Why though? Even Catholic church allows interfaith marriages as long as one of the spouses is Catholic and the wedding takes place in a church. And Catholic church doesn't even recognize divorce... so if you marry outside of your religion - you better make it work.

I’m getting tired of these staged videos. Making them read the few hate comments they actually get. Then always bringing in a friend or parent to give “input” on the relationship. These are obviously people with an online following trying to get more followers 🤦‍♀️ I doubt anyone actually cares about their religious differences.
