I was addicted to Afrin nasal spray back in college. Kept a bottle on my night stand, one in my car, one in my shirt pocket, one n my study hall desk, and another even in my lab space drawer (chem major, the drawers were assigned and locked). If I went more than two hours my nose just plugged so bad I couldn’t breath. Stopped cold turkey and was a total mouth breather for about three weeks. Haven’t used it since the mid 80s. Diet Dr Pepper. Caffeine and Neutrasweet combine into a highly addictive compound. After years of drinking around 4 two liter bottles per day I went cold turkey because my doctor noticed my kidneys were starting to be affected. Had headaches, nausea, brain fog, night sweats, tremors, etc. for almost two months. It was so bad my poop turned white! Makes me cringe just remembering.

Soda for me. Not that I only drink that, but the amount I have is not healthy, especially now that I’ve reached 40. I have been trying to find an alternative, but so far the only thing I’ve found is juice and that still has sugar, so it’s not really that much better than soda. I would just like to have a drink with a flavor I enjoy to have with my meals.
