I quit a job as a teen working festivs after the first day. A friend hooked me up with a job and knew I was a hard worker. I worked a taco bowl stand with her, 4 other kids, and the boss. I'm black and she was mixed and you'll see why this matters later. I get there at 5 in the morning and her and I were the only ones there to unload the produce truck. We worked by ourselves until around lunch and the boss was just rude. Out of nowhere I had an asthma attack and I forgot my inhaler but the boss didn't care. I called my mom and asked to bring my inhaler so I could continue. It got to the point where I was about to collapse. Then out of nowhere the boss said "these lazy N are always looking for an excuse to not work." The girl cursed him out and when my mom came we just left. Funny thing is after we left the stand struggled to function because the other kids were lazy. My mom knew the guy and told me not to tell my dad or else he'd go down and deck that T-Rex hands having asshat. Mind you, this happened in 1998 at the Newport Folk Festival. I made far more in tips because the crowd was so nice.

As a former Amazon fulfillment center employee I can 100% vouch for the “15 min” break situation. The worst part about it is that those centers were huge. Most have multiple levels as well. And it didn’t help that the floors were hard and your feet were probably hurting

Amazon are a-holes. Their "efficiency experts" asked why I was meeting production quotas. I told them it's because I'm on the same scale as the people who were literally half my age. I then told them to write that down for the next time they were told to bother me.

Couple months ago I got a hob working at Burger King as an assistant manager making 15 an hour. 3 days later before my first day I got a call for a security job I really wanted, told me I could start in a week, figured, I'd work Burger King until I started security. Walked in, was expected to know the menu inside and out, told I need to be faster after never working there before. Walked out for a smoke break, drove off and never came back

They also expected me to know McDonald’s menu in and out when I was in training. Like if you want me to learn put the recipes somewhere??? They had recipes hung up for a shamrock shake and that was it and it was December 💀

Had a few guys walk up the ramp to my companies warehouse. Take a couple of steps into the warehouse, say "Nope" and turn around and walk out. Non-climate controlled warehouse in Texas in summer.

Had three days of training with Amazon, then first day of delivering. Was told to ignore the training entirely. Was told not to report the issues with my van (check engine light was on, oil change light was on with miles way overdue) because it’s ground the van and it’s “a tedious process to unground it.” The van broke down on me after my first delivery, had to partner up with the supervisor the rest of the shift. Then went back to another guy who’s also starting their first day to pick up some orders from him to help him out. They scolded this guy for trying to take a lunch, then again for taking a short break. They wanted us to show up 30 mins early to get our vehicles and routes assigned, so our vehicle inspections, etc then clock in. Gave me two phones to use, never explained the purpose of one phone was for their gps and the other was for my route. Second day, spent over an hour in an apartment complex after dark trying to find these poorly lit up apartments. Had 13 or so deliveries there. Each building was blocked off from the others with fencing. NONE of the codes supplied would work for me. Had my ass chewed out for being there for so long, told to leave at reception (which was closed). Couldn’t even finish before my drive time ran out for the day due to the 280 deliveries (might have been slightly lower) and the shitty routing. Was told to keep delivering. Delivered the last three packages, got back to the shop at 11. Got home at midnight, never went back. They also wanted me to sit on the bottom part of my seat belt and just pull the top part on me to avoid buckling and unbuckling each stop. So yeah… fuck that company.

To answer 16:27. Yes they still treat staff poorly. (Im a food vendor for some local restaurants). Most of them the managers are control freaks or perv on the female staff. The kitchen staff go outside on smoke breaks unless they have an order to cook. (Cleaning work is for the new guys).

My brother worked as a manager at a resturant and got me a job there. I had one day of training, ran some food out to tables, plated some dishes, and relayed some orders to servers when a table asked for something. Nothing bad happened and I did fine for a first day, but the next day going back I was filled with such dread and panic that I went into the managers office (not my bro) told him i quit and drove home. My brother was so disapointed in me, but I found a great job fixing printers and have utmost respect for servers, I sure could not do it.

Yay (okay not really)! Got my own story to tell!! So I'm stupid and needed a job because my phone broke and my idiot brother couldn't fix it. Anyway I applied to yellow- blue German equivalent of the dollar store. And it was sketchy from the start. The interview was held in some backroom that was very empty and the lady who interviewed me said ' It's not like your store is dangerous or anything it's just people don't want to work there' first red flag!! Admittedly I should left but I was desperate as anything so I took it!! The frist day was crap show that could only be rivaled by american politics, the only other person in the store had not only no idea I was even suppose to be there, she also spoke terrible German so I could barely understand her. Not to mention I was not trained or worked in like I was suppose to and the lady who called me for an interview was unreachable. Great so I spend FIVE HOURS doing grulling labor and I can't even log my hours because I need a key card to that and only the manager could issue one. Next day I went there and again no training or manager (who could have seen that coming) not only that but our store had a theft problem so big that all the employees wore belt bags to store their valuables, add to fact that a lot of the employees were overworked and and hated each other lead to me quitting pretty quickly. Thanks you for reaching this kind stranger

They expected me to unclog and clean a toilet and a stall where someone had crapped all over the place, and even tried to flush their feculent underpants down the toilet. All I got was a pair of throwaway gloves and a plunger to do the job. I stuck an “Out Of Order” sign on the door and noped out of there. I hate retail.

I quit Party City after the first day. Register would log you out every 2 minutes and everyone was very unprofessional. I texted the hiring manager after the first day saying I was quitting. I wasn't going to let them ruin my Halloween.

The story about the guy giving the old woman a ride is exactly why I won’t pick people up or help them out with my car. Whether they get hurt getting in her out of my vehicle, or somebody else hits us while we’re in the car I’m ultimately gonna end up getting sued and my insurance goes up for trying to do a good deed. Idk how if this woman already had two hip transplant before clearly her hips were not in good shape, and her tripping was not the soul cause of the need for the hip replacement it was probably the icing on the cake. I’m suprised thier lawyer wasn’t able to show records that she’d been recommended to have the hip surgery before she even got into that accident. Technically, I guess you would still be somewhat responsible, but at least not fully responsible for the extent of the injury if it preexisted the accident. It’s sad I see people struggle w groceries walking and i feel bad and want to help but I can’t afford to become their meal ticket.

A few months ago, I was offered a training in sales for a computer branch of a local mall. I have pretty good knowledge in the field and I just needed the technical skills regarding sales. I went for the interview, saw the contract and saw that my assignements were retail and cashier. I pointed that out to the employer, saying there must've been a mistake and he brushed it off. So I got up, thanked him for his time and walked away.

I quit McDonald’s half way through training because the boy teaching me licked sauce off his gloves, admitted they never throw out the old food only put new time stamps on it, the manager spit on my moms car, and I was expected to know all the recipes without being taught any of them. I haven’t eaten McDonald’s since like 10 years old. The thing to clock me in took over an hour to work so it didn’t clock me in until I was considered severely late. They ran out of 10 piece McNugget boxes and I was yelled at for it by the manager who spit on the car, as if it wasn’t my training and as if I was supposed to order McNugget boxes.

In California they owe you extra money for every day they’re late for paying you. Once left with notice but they told me to leave before the notice period was done but they didn’t pay me out that same day so I told them about the California law and I got paid for the extra two days it took them to pay me

Extra butter guy probably just had flash-forward moment. "May I have extra butter, please?" His inward struggle: This is where I'm at? This is what I'm doing? I accomplished this, that, and the other thing just to be here smiling like an idiot and doling out extra butter to the greasy masses? ...no....No....NO! Just leave. Don't look back. Go! Go now...

I also hate how those commission DeChambeau lying to get you to show up at an interview. I got set up for one of those vector, nice companies I even reiterated several times to the person who called me that this was an administrative position that was paid, hourly not commission not sales. I like this guy said 2/3 of the room got up and left. I don’t understand how you think that lying to people to get them into a job interview for a job that they don’t even want is going to be useful. You’re not just wasting my time you’re wasting your own time. If these people are not interested in the type of job, you have to offer they’re not gonna take it simply because they’re there. Especially when there’s no benefits there’s zero base pay. There’s literally no reason that anyone would have to wanna sign up to work for this company on top of being dragged there by false pretenses.
