I appreciate that Noah can step up and admit that his behavior wasn’t the greatest. As humans we make mistakes. I think most of us can say when we were in our mid-twenties we made some bad choices that we regret as we get older. It’s being able to acknowledge and apologize that shows our character.

Very well said, and I kinda get where he was coming. You have to remember at the time ER was on its fifth season, Noah was one of the original cast members, and to have this new actress (Martin) join the cast and all of a sudden her character is getting all the story lines (which after rewatching season 5 recently she really wasn’t, season 5 was centered around Doug and Carol). It’s like your parents having another child and suddenly you being the older sibling, aren’t getting all the attention anymore. Now granted being rude to her, off camera is taking this too far.

I seem to recall an episode in which a patient of Romano's had...something bad, dunno what...anyway, I think the deal was that it was critical that Romano be brought in, but it was his night off and nobody could find him. Lucy tracked him down at his own house (a damned nice one, as I recall) which at first infuriated him and inspired him to jump knee-deep in her ass (yeah, I know...imagine **that!**) until she abruptly stood up to him, put him in check, and explained the full gravity of the situation and why she saw fit to come get him. Romano later praised Lucy's efforts and dedication to his patient to Benton, and seemed genuinely impressed. I think it was implied that afterwards, Romano developed a soft spot for Lucy-- albeit in a paternal, professional manner vs. a romantic one-- and became more of a mentor to her, as he felt she had the makings of a fantastic doctor. I can still recall watching this episode 20+ years on; it was pretty heavy; one of the relative handful of times that Romano was shown to have a very human center beneath his flinty, calloused, copper-bottomed hardass exterior. Looking back, it seems even just a bit heavier. I mean, being alone in a room with the two people he clearly cared deeply for, struggling with one of them in an ultimately failed attempt to save the life of the other...pretty brutal.

I just finished watching all 15 seasons of ER during lockdown (I'd seen the show as a teen but not all seasons) and these episodes remains among the most shocking. The way this storyline led to Carter's addiction was masterful and raw. I remember getting chills when he sees Lucy on the floor. I'm a big medical series fan and also love Grey's Anatomy but this show was so much grittier somehow, even with GA's most shocking and devastating events. Dr Carter is one of my favourites and I wish he'd been on every episode.

I remember this episode it was so heartbreaking. Talk about professional, Kellie Martin had to work with someone very closely who seems like he was a jerk. The rocky relationship never showed on screen, their chemistry was off the charts. She never told Noah Wylie was going on in her personal life, rather came to work and did her job. She was even gracious about her exit and saying goodbye to him, this interview is a first start but he definitely owes her an apology in real life. I hope he gave her one.

ER is my absolute favorite TV show. I got the DVD box sets I've probably watched it 70 times within the last 10 years. It is my go-to show and no matter how many times I watch it I always get hit right in the feels when Lucy dies and when Mark Greene dies. I've always thought if she didn't leave Carter and Lucy would have ended up together that certainly look like where they were going. Either way the fact that after all these years all the times I've seen it it can still invoke emotion from me just shows how well they did their job

iloveperfume I first bought the box set in late 2009 from China I got another copy a few years ago and I just want the whole series again on Hulu. I started the show when I had back surgery in 2001 so the 7th season and I was hooked. Watching reruns on TNT catching up I've seen every episode I don't know how many times it's my go TV show. If I can't find anything else to watch I can always always watch that I absolutely love the original six. Didn't like Kerry at first thing you're not supposed to I don't think but with Weaver she grows on you Romano's a prick but he's funny. Lucy that character had so much potential what saddens me more than her actual death is what could have been. Dr. Greg Pratt grew on me the only flaw with the series for me was to thugs Abby Lockhart is not a strong replacement for Carol Hathaway Samantha Taggart fits roll better. And I hated the series finale I would have had Rachel Greene start as an intern at the beginning of the season and dr. Carter comes in at the beginning of the season and takes over the ER. Kind of Full Circle if you will.

@@rockinrj87 I just finished watching all 15 seasons (had seen the show as a teen but not all episodes) and I watched the finale today. I had the same thought, I would have had Kate Banfield get her adoption and leave to be with her family, and have Carter take over as Chief. Season 15 wasn't great, I feel the way they brought in the OG characters was a little wedged in, but I get that they had to do some fan service. I don't think that Abby or Sam were replacements for Carol but I do find it interesting how there was only ever one main character nurse on the show - I would have loved to see Chuny or Malik or Haleh get just one little arc. All in all it's a fantastic show and I'm so glad I watched all of the episodes - I can see how it'd be a go to for you and I'm sure I'll eventually figure out my favuorite season, though it's probably almost certainly one in the first half with the OG characters. Didn't love the last 5 seasons although Pratt and Morris did definitely grow on me as well.
@rockinrj87
@rockinrj87 4 жыл бұрын
@@amstreater they certainly recycled stories. But you're able to do that with a show like that where it's a medical school so you can easily tell the same story over with a different character I agree with you the first half was better. My favorite episode is probably to hell or high water The one where Doug Ross saves the boy in the storm drain. Favorite character Dr Mark Green for sure. I just feel like you start the show on John Carter's first day as an intern it would have been fitting if in the last season he's the chief of the department and I would have had season 15 have Rachel Green starting her internship I don't think there's a great way to end the show like that honestly you were going to end up disappointing some people

@@LouiseHultcrantz Benton definitely softened up and grew as the show went along. He always put his patients first despite how they felt about him. He just wanted to be the best surgeon possible so initially he lacked a lot of empathy but after Reese came into the picture his character became better. I think I most identify with Luca. All the characters were deeply human and flawed to varying degrees. Kerry Weaver was not likable but she wanted power. Dr Greene was probably the most clear headed doctor on the show until he got sick. Romano was irredeemably awful 9/10 times. He showed kindness rarely but I liked that he stuck to the character because there are people who are mean almost all the time in life and he reflected that. Luca was the most emotional doctor on the show and I liked that he was given that PTSD arc with the priest.

I only had the opportunity to meet Noah in person twice (his family were close friends with a friend of mine) and for a few hours at most, but it was not long after he hit his peak of fame. I’ve met other actors during that time in their lives and it’s amazing how quickly their feeling of entitlement grows. However, for Noah being the age he was and on a hit show he had such a grounded and easygoing presence about him. Granted, he was with his parents during a family event, but I recall him downplaying much of his recent success. I’ve been told and he admitted himself that he felt superior oftentimes, but that was never the impression he gave me during the two times we spoke in passing. I’m glad to see that he’s acknowledging his past mistakes because he is a great actor and a very kind hearted person from a lovely family.

those two eps were probably the best in the entire show imo. lucy was kind of annoying at first, but i really thought she would become a regular on the show, didn't see this coming AT ALL. also, sad to hear some people on set, including noah, weren't too nice to her, esp after what was going on in her personal life, she really seems like a nice person.

For some reason I never thought John and Lucy had great chemistry together (although I liked both characters)..Now I see why..It seems like Noah didn't like her in real life....(Wow! I thought they were supposed to leave their EGOs at the door)

I think he is saying something different, that they felt everybody should give as much as them to the show and you needed to prove yourself and probably she wasn't completely focused on the beginning and he was hard on her

After so many years, I still think it was a big mistake. The character Lucy had so much potential, especially as the chemistry between Carter and Lucy was magical. The other women, in my opinion, were terrible next to Carter. I would still cry doll when I see this episode again should see. Just sad.

Be Still My Heart and All in the Family were the hardest episodes for me because of Carter and Lucy getting stabbed. I binge watched the whole series on Hulu last year and it was quite the experience. When I first saw the episodes mentioned above, I prayed for both Carter and Lucy to live. I was relieved when Carter survived but i was heartbroken when Lucy died. Saddest moment in TV history. Aside from being sad about Lucy dying and Carter suffering survivor's guilt episodes later, i still continued on with the show.

Those two episodes are the most powerfully dramatic highlights that of a show that ranks closely with The Rains of Castamere in Game of Thrones and a tragedy that we could never see Lucy grow into a full-fledged doctor and see how she'd work with the likes of Pratt, Neela, Ray, Sam, and Morris to whom I'm sure she would have made a fun spirited colleague and a pain in the ass.
