It's been 24 years since 'Family Matters' came to an end on July 17, 1998 after 215 episodes, and when Entertainment Weekly reunited the cast of the beloved sitcom in 2017, real love was burstin' out of every seam.
Watch the PeopleTV reunion special with VelJohnson, Jo Marie Payton, Kellie Shanygne Williams, Darius McCrary, Jaleel White, Telma Hopkins, Shawn Harrison, and Bryton James as they share their audition stories, how they formed their on-screen chemistry, why they're ready for a revival and how White transformed himself into the hit nerdy neighbor Steve Urkel.

If they do decide to do a continuation of the show like *That's 70's show* I fully guarantee we will see an emphasis on showing the feminization of the black male image. They will either have Waldo, Eddie, Ritchie(in the lead to be it) and Steve be gay with a white or Asian husband/wife. I'm leaning towards it being a Asian man because it's a PR stunt to make Asians look like the good guys when in reality they are planning to invade the U.S. by taking our guns away and shrink our military forces then EMP. Smh and the writers are Jewish women and men or black woman who may be gay herself. Peep game.

As a little Black kid in the 90’s, I wanna thank FM and Urkel for showing us that Black kids can be geniuses too. We were only shown White and Asian nerds, and Steve and Carlton from Fresh Prince were the 1st Black genius/smart kids on tv that I saw for my generation in the 90’s, and we eventually got TJ from Smart Guy by the end of the 90’s but Steve and Carlton were the 1st. So thank you for that representation.

Yes! The intact Evans family from Good Times and the intact and wealthy Jeffersons walked so that these shows could run 🙏🏼 Esther Rolle, who played Florida on Good Times, insisted if the show was to happen, the family HAD to have a present father, because she was fed up of seeing Black families only ever being portrayed as broken/single-parented.

"even as a non African American" - the fact that you even felt you had to say this is a sad state of affairs about our modern society. When this show was made we were well on our way to getting past racial divisions, as a white kid watching this show I never once thought "they're black and different", I just thought they're human beings like me. I always compared my own dad to Carl, my grandma to Estelle, and didn't think anything of it.😢 I wish our world today could be more like that

This show was a fixture for me during my teenage years. My parents split when I was turning 13 and I was lost, hurt, confused and generally just a huge mess. That's when I first developed mental health issues. I became severely depressed, my anxiety was through the roof and I was having major PTSD episodes. Family Matters helped me cope and really made me rely on my close friends and my next door neighbor to help me through one of my most difficult times of my life. This show had a major part in my coping with the bad family times I had and through my parent's divorce. It's a show that I hold dear to my heart. Thank you for helping me make it through my teenage years.

Whatever. I am getting sick and tired of these actors coming together on a set... and calling it "a reunion". This is a cast meetup, not a reunion episode. Stop trying to change what a "reunion show" is. They are not in character, they are not acting on the show. Its cute to see the actors being friends on set, and talking about their JOBS. But this is not "a family matters" reunion. Hollywood truly lost all the good writers with these types of productions. These people are sitting here pretending like they are not friends off camera. Its crap, the Martin reunion as well... Who cares about seeing all you people together on a set? You are getting clicks from people who want to see an actual continuation of the damn show. This is a bunch of actors sitting in front of a camera, getting paid to talk about something they did to make money. Stop clicking this bullcrap. Amen

I genuinely feel me and majority of my non-Black peers grew up not only non-racist but anti-racist because of shows like Family Matters, Fresh Prince and Cosby. From the age of 4, I watched Black families be moralistic yet hilarious: doctors, lawyers, judges, policemen, jocks, A-students, preppies, nerds, annoying siblings. Just like me and my family and every other American family. It was so formative to my feelings and ideals regarding social parity.
