*07:10** GEN.G’s play style* Binbon: What do you think about the playstyle GEN.G pursues? Karon: I think it varies by map. For Lotus, we build up by taking over each area one by one. On the other hand, for Split, we rely on the individual competency of each team member - we engage in a lot of ‘contacts’ and have the mindset of ‘if we win this, we win the game!’ Lakia: As a team, I believe we pursue the playstyle of all five of us thinking the same thing. Even if it’s a wrong decision, we still have to execute it as a team - we act together, whether it's by shooting or playing. Eventually, it will work somehow. Binbon: I think the difference from other teams is that GEN.G has fast decision-making, but it seems like all five players are on the same wavelength. Meteor: In the past season, PRX were the unbeatable champions of the Pacific - it seems like we are bringing that feeling now. You know those crazy plays as if we took our brain out - I think that style works better for us, and our biggest strength is that our minds are united as one. Binbon: So it’s like a combined robot where all 5 players are merged. Lakia: Yes, it's not like giving one punch each; it's like all five of us punching together, like BAM. *08:04** Kick-off finals* Binbon: When you first met PRX, you were defeated at first but then won in the finals. What mindset did you prepare with? Lakia: After winning the first game and then getting reverse-swept by PRX in Lotus, I went to the lobby and kept using the shotgun because I was so frustrated. When we faced them again in the finals, I trusted in how good my team was, and I calmly focused on what I needed to do. Meteor: To be honest, to beat PRX, we needed to have good aim. When we lost, you could see from our movements that we were scared. So after that loss, we decided to focus on what we were good at - fighting with guns (aim) - and we regained our confidence. I think that's how we won. Karon: I was so scared during the kick-off. Binbon: I'm sorry, but it was obvious kkk. We could tell that you were nervous on stage. Karon: Actually, my main strength is my aim, but instead of focusing on that, I kept focusing on the calls, so I became the typical smoke thrower. During the game against PRX, Munchkin said, 'If you don’t understand, just watch my screen - just die quickly and watch my screen. I will show you!' I got real-time help by watching him make kills after pushing, etc. So I thought, 'If HE can do it, then of course, I can too!' I have an aim that even he acknowledged, so I pushed like crazy and won. Binbon: If you compare it to the real world, it’s like you met a really good first boss! *09:17** Karon improving!* Karon: The thing is, as you can tell, I play as if I have no idea about team play. So from Munchkin’s perspective, it was like I couldn’t do things that I was expected to know how to do - he was furious. I kept getting bombarded by his brutal honesty, which started with cursing. My mind became foggy, and since I kept getting criticised, I just got scared. But from Munchkin’s perspective, he’s like, ‘He (Karon) should be doing this here, but why is he not doing it…?’. So he’d be like, ‘Is something off?’ and I’d reply, ‘No, nothing,’ and I'd just brush it off. One day, we drank together. I cried so much and said, 'I don’t know if I’m here just to get cursed at or to learn how to play games.' It got to the point where I said I couldn’t play in this team… Karon: I kept thinking about it - ‘Why would he keep criticising me?’, ‘Which part was he unhappy with?’, and I rewatched my gameplays. And after that, I understood! After seeing my faults, I gave calls like ‘Munchkin, put the Molly first!’ which happened after we drank. Lakia: We’d say like ‘Yo Karon, this is going good~’ and we’d do this - Meteor: We call this a winning call - the moment we get this call, it’s a round that we think we've already won - and Karon did it first - for the first time ever. Binbon: Now that you understand Munchkin better, let’s send a video letter to the past Karon Karon: Dear me from the past, stop whining because you got criticised! Just think that there’s something meaningful behind it. And don’t hold back your feelings - if you’re having a hard time, let them out. I know you can do well, so I hope you try your best!

*00:27** Rebuilding behind* Meteor: About a year ago, it was the end of the season, and as I was talking to the team, the first thing they said was, ‘Meteor, I think everyone except you will leave the team.’ My first thought when I heard this was, ‘Why did they make me stay?’ My second thought was, ‘If they are all leaving, what am I supposed to do?’ One by one, the (ex) members came to me and said, ‘I’m leaving…’ Bail coach called me separately and also mentioned, ‘Meteor, I think I’m going to leave as well.’ I think I also gave up; I just didn’t have the courage to challenge the idea of rebuilding this team because I was left alone. When I talked to the director, he said, ‘Meteor, just trust me and wait a little bit.’ After that, t3xture and hsk joined, and I think that’s when we started becoming organised. Binbon: How did Karon join? Karon: I think they really had nowhere else to look but the amateur list. I was so nervous during my test, but at least my aim was good, so I got accepted. Lakia: Karon keeps saying that he was very nervous, but despite that, what he showed was powerful. Meteor: For example, if he’s in a 1v3, which everyone would think, ‘How do you win that?’, he would win them. Binbon: Looks like hsk took good care of his little treasure box~ You did a shout out for INPA - he’s your dad? He got so much criticism in the chat - ‘Who do you think you are?!’ kkkkk Karon: For me, he’s really like a dad. He told me, ‘We’ll do a scrim - contact me if you’re interested in being an amateur.’ So I reached out to him because I wanted to do something. He taught me about the game and helped me a lot - he gave me so much support during that time. Lakia: For me, I was taking a break after leaving DK plus KIA. I was first contacted by t3xture - he really had faith in me, and after I passed my test, I joined GEN straight away. Binbon: So this is the order - Meteor was alone, then t3xture, hsk, and then Lakia. Meteor: Actually, before Lakia and t3xture joined, there were two players from another famous team. But both our team and their team didn’t mesh well, so after finding other players, we recruited Lakia, Karon, and then Munchkin. *02:42** First impressions* Binbon: I’m curious about Karon’s first impression of the members. Karon: Everyone was already well-known in the scene. I was nervous at first, but hsk had trust in me - he said, ‘We will keep our team like this, so don’t worry and just play games, learn hard.’ Binbon: What games did you play before joining? Karon: I played League of Legends, and I also enjoy playing Steam games. Binbon: Did you immediately feel comfortable with anyone on the team? Karon: t3xture. When I first arrived, he invited me to have a drink with him. He was like, ‘We need to go out and have a drink~’ even though it was our first meeting. After we had drinks, we also went to karaoke and hung out until 6 am. Lakia: He is someone who really values the individual relationships between teammates, so from the start of our time together as a team, he made an effort to foster that. Binbon: Who did you think would be the hardest to connect with? Karon: Meteor. He’s quite reserved - even though he talks a lot, there's a difficult feeling. But he still looks out for me. Lakia: I don’t think so... kkk *04:00** Talking about in-game positions* Meteor: To be honest, I'm still upset about it. I don’t know how I would have accepted it as a team, but from my perspective, if we had done a scrim where I played the duelist and t3xture played the sentinel, then I would have admitted that he’s better than me. But that wasn’t the case - the moment t3xture joined, they told me, ‘You have to play sentinel!’ I thought a lot about it - in the end, someone had to give up their position anyway, so I decided to be the one. Binbon: I always say it in my streams - I respect Meteor so much. Meteor: Even right now, it’s still overwhelming to play sentinel, but the results are good so I'm fine. Karon: I really like my position! When I was an amateur, I thought I was so good as a duelist. Hsk told me that to take the test, I would have to prepare as a smoke agent. He mentioned, ‘since you didn’t have much experience with smokes, wouldn’t the test be difficult?’ After I changed to a smoker role, it became really fun - it has its own character traits, etc. *05:00** IGL Munchkin* Binbon: How did Munchkin become the IGL? Karon: Munchkin likes to talk and has a clear concept and perspective, so after I handed the IGL position to him, I think it fit well. Binbon: As far as I know, Munchkin’s IGL style is really spontaneous. Meteor: Firstly, all of us are smart, so our decision-making is really fast, and Munchkin is good at summarising it. If he’s the last one alive in the game, he would suddenly move to a safe spot and start discussing the next round - he would just stay still and talk about it. It was my first time seeing something like this in my pro-gamer life. *05:38** Discussing about GEN.G’s tier* Binbon: Karon’s father (INPA), t3xture, and I made a video predicting the Pacific team’s tiers. Back then, people underestimated GEN - what did you think about it? Meteor: It was understandable. We kinda screwed up our game in India (convergence). I just understood people’s comments and had fun watching it. Lakia: Starting from Binbon saying, ‘Lakia still hasn’t shown anything yet’ - Binbon: He got hurt kkk Lakia: But I honestly feel like I haven’t shown much, so of course, I had to see the evaluations of our most recent games. Meteor: (amongst ourselves we were like), let’s prove who we are. Lakia: (we were like) ‘We’ll get good results if we play as much as we do in our scrims, so we can prove it.’ Karon: I saw the comments saying ‘GEN.G is tier 4.’ So my newbie mind was like, ‘Hell yeah~ We’ll destroy them (opponents) and prove it~’ Even better! Binbon: What do you think your tier is now? Meteor: I think we are tier 0 , PRX is 0.5, and the rest… I hope you can climb up…. Lakia: I think we need to secure our position. Karon: (cutting in) I don’t think that far ahead. People are definitely going to be like, ‘0 tier? Who do you think you are?’ But if we say we’re 1 tier, I get it - because we won kick-offs. Karon: Our scrim winning rate during kick-off was 80%. We played about 150 games. It was only 3 months after our rebuilding, so we played about 7 games a day. If we were in good form, we would win all 7 games, and if our condition wasn’t good, we would win 5 games and lose 2.
