@trihardous maximus when I was taking classical guitar lessons, I had this very serious teacher, very thorough, very strict but not a technocrat at all. He just loved playing guitar and also loved precise, hard work.I got my diploma in just four years, taking lessons from him. When we first met he gave a Pepe Romero's collection album. Listened to it so much, the CD got worn out. He said to me that day, listen to Pepe as deep as you can, even if you never reach that level it will make you a thousand times better than you'd ever be. I still practice to this day, and play as much as I can though I never became a professional musician much to everyone's surprise. Life had other plans, having to make ends meet and going through a rough decade.. But still working on it. As my teacher once said to me, whatever happens no one can take music from you. Just make sure you'll always keep your guitar close, and everything's gonna work out.. But man, what a wonderful, balanced and unique musician Pepe Romero is. A guitar player's guitar player.

While I was living in the small south Texas town of New Braunfels a few years ago wife and I had the good fortune to sit in the third row of the Brauntex movie theater where he performed. Another time he, his brother and their sons performed at the university in nearby Seguin. At intermission they were available in the lobby to shake hands and give autographs. I have a CD with all their signatures. So talented and so nice.

i cant wait till im this old, when ive played the song a thousand times, when ive expereinced what this song means, the love.. the loss, when i spend summer days with my young love, riding on our bikes past golden feilds, when i run home in the rain when she tells me she cant be straight anymore and she has to be true to who she is, when i spend days in a dark quiet corner of the gloom monochrome bookshelves library in silence learning the rules of how to express your soul and when i take the stage i let the freinds ive lost sound in the roar of my rasguedo, and then one day suddenly my rasguedo will lose its power.. because i forget it all, i forget how to speak, until one teaches me how to open my soul again, she'll believe in its shout and it will become a bellow, they will understand through my alegrias, and the trample of the strings under my fingers that i am worthy of love, and company, but one day my spirit will grow weak, she will have taken to the bed, and never to come back out, and once again i will be lost, and there will be no more, no more hope, only the guitar, and i will take the stage one more time and do the thing i was born to do, play guitar and all of it will be there, the cresendos will come climax, and the decresendos will bring suspense, the accent will make them jump and the slurs will give them content, its the song played one thousand times, and even so you can still hear her voice in every note, and her smile. in short i cant wait to live and then i cant wait to share it with you all, as this man has shared so much with me.

The same thing backwards happens to classical guitarists when they try to play using a pick. How the hell, electric guitar players play so many things with just one "finger"
@vainbow46324 жыл бұрын
@@gregorp8406 But they don't play many things, it's usually just one voice at a time, perfectly doable with one pick. I've never met a classical guitarist surprised over that.
@gregorp84064 жыл бұрын
@@vainbow4632 at first glimpse anyone would agree but then you get on to the hybrid picking stuff and it feels very weird if you're like me for example, I've learned playing guitar on a classical guitar, studied many years before I got into electric guitar.. Finger picking no problem, having studied classical for about 15 years but when I got into picking and finding the way I could be as efficient as I could.. Well that took a lot of work. I think that after a point the only common thing between the two is that they're both called guitars but they're totally different animals. Especially if you try to have an articulate sound while playing very loud or using distortion. That, at least for me, was a challenge.. And though I've been playing for almost thirty years now, I still feel that the classical guitar feels more like home for me.
