Sticking to the Majors is really not good advice for new traders. These currencies are by FAR the most Big bank manipulated. Minors such as GBP/NZD and CAD/CHF are the way to go

Spreads are killers on crosses and crosses react heavily to the majors movement. A structure on crosses can easily negated on a major move on the major pairs. Majors move the markets, just have to learn how to think like the BBs and trade in their direction.
