When he gets a super mushroom and becomes super peppino he takes that unused muscle form. He can retain Mach momentum through turning and wall running like Pizzelle, and has Noise’s flight super jump cancel like in Soundigo DX.

If your wondering how Peppino didn't get a P, here's 2 reasons: Peppino lost his combo taking the shortcut in 1-2 (backed up by it taking him over 7 seconds to reach Warp Zone #1) There were no secrets/secret treasures on Peppino's delivery route (backed up by the fact that Warp Zones are called a Warp Zone and not a Secret, and Gerome and Gerome's door were not seen in the animation)

the player didn't get a p rank due to multiple places where combo could be lost (the game grants a P rank if there are no secrets, gerome in a level or lap 2 as seen in ctop) - 1-2 (did not kill any enemies or get any coins which assumably act like the collectibles) - 4-2 (JUST lost combo while travelling to the warp zone, combo loss starts after the three goombas are killed) - 8-2 (lost combo as he did not pick up any coins or killed any bullet bills)
