Well lately Toy Tactics, I'm not the biggest fan of the RTS genre (or at least I wasn't that interested) but I saw it on sale the last summer and it's style made me wishlist it. Then I played the demo and bought it. I think if there are more people like me, Toy Tactics can be a nice entry point to the RTS genre

I'm surprised to hear your fans are apparently not into Stormgate & Zerospace. Though I'm unsurprised to hear Battle Aces isn't anticipated by your fans, it looks so generic, no macro and has no single player campaign or different distinct factions. Zerospace, Stormgate along with Tempest Rising are my most anticipated new RTSes!

I think it comes from the fact that my audience is generally older, and remembers very vividly the old RTS games from the golden era so they aren't very interesting in new, fast and flashy RTS games.

Stormgate, Zerospace, and the other "heavy hitters" from teams that have the budget and experience to make a massively successful game are indeed important. But it's almost like they're so important that they're less interesting than the scrappy smaller teams and indies that are working on titles that are hopefully also good. Stormgate and Zerospace in particular are also both trying to be "Starcraft 3", whereas smaller teams and indies are usually trying to be more different. I'm still very interested in the "big" games, it's just that they're expected to be good and probably break even at minimum. In the end, at least one of Stormgate and Zerospace will be considered the Starcraft 3 replacement, and it's possible it will be both. Meanwhile, there's more of a "tension" when it comes to the smaller teams and indies that are taking proportionately bigger risks both design wise and the fact that they're making RTSs now when everyone else is also making RTSs. In this environment some of them will release great games that succeed despite the odds and others will release cult classics that get loving hour long retrospectives and might not ever break even. So all the "little guys" are a little more exciting to talk about for that reason. (Also there's an RTS that's literally called Lil Guys, and that's fun in itself.)

Hi and thank you very much for sharing your personal view and outlook on this topic of Indie and close to AAA development. I actually agree with you almost 100%, as you are on target. The market is very big, but the completion is also much bigger than it was 20, let alone 30, years ago. Now I can count hundreds of games in a subgenre in development where as back than you couldn't name more than a few landmark ones a year and just a bit more of the lesser ones. People are also open to new ideas, on both sides, and I love that. That is the only way for the genre to flourish and I can't wait for one of these games to be the PUBG of the RTS genre.

@@perafilozof I think your audience is more interested in the single player experience and Stormgate, ZeroSpace, and Battle Aces don't seem to have that as their main focus. I'm quite interested in multiplayer RTS games, those three included, but there is a lot of information available about them elsewhere. Your channel does a great job putting a spotlight on upcoming games that aren't as well known. Games designed with a multiplayer focus need larger marketing budgets anyway since you need a large player count for them to work.

Yep, I'm curious if any of them can step up to the StarCraft 1-2 level in e-sport, hope for some story campaign too. Wings of Liberty campaign is my all time favorite, with RA2. Do You have any favorite RTS that can not be dethroned? Almost forgot, there is a strategy/roguelike game called "Grit and Valor". You might be interested.

I will put Grit and Valor on my to do list. I have plenty of RTS favorites, and most of them will be hard to dethrone. Homeworld, Warcraft 3, Battle for Middle Earth, Dawn of War, World in Conflict, Total War Shogun 2, Rise of Nations... to name but a few. Some games are getting close to them... but non have matched or surpass them. And I don't think the current AAA publishers will ever allow talented developers to do so.

Hi and thx for the questions. EA only uses C&C license and IP for mobile games to try and make a profit from microtransactions. The last remaster was great, but no news on new ones. As for Relic... it is all up in the air. They spilt from their publisher and we will see how many IPs do they still own and what they will work and who will publish it. BATTLE ACES please! Sure it may not be the typical RTS, but that is the point. I want to enjoy Starcraft and Stormgate, etc. but unless you have decent APM's then it makes a fun game too difficult and frustrating. And the first 5 to 10 mins of building your base with the same boring and limited units every game, gets old quick. Battle Aces skips the boring base building part and it is going to come out with 50 units so there is endless strategy and replay potential.

Hey, @gregweston3770 , Age of Goblins dev here! I understand your indignation when we compare Age with other major RTS on the market, but hey, that's not really the point! Age was created solely by me, to be a more casual RTS with simplified mechanics. Maybe it may seem a little naive due to the graphics, but I guarantee that you will need to burn some brain cells until you can finish it! Comparing a solo indie project with products made by dozens of people and millions of dollars involved is not quite fair. I hope you can give him a chance, and may your goblin tribe triumph!

Storm gate recycles the same formulat of fast clicking and remmebering the hot keys. Some people love it, some don't. Lets see! I tried their demo on last fest but it was very early stage back then. Hopefully it will have some more orginal ideas

I do agree with people who make the criticism that the game is not really revolutionary (I dont know why the developers are claiming it is revolutionary?), but the game gives me the old RTS vibes. I dont think it looks that bad and the factions so far in it are interesting enough. I dont like zerospace as gameplay wise it does not look like it will interest me and the other game mentioned at beginning does not interest me (I played the demo). Tempest Rising is the other RTS I have been looking forward to as well.

Hi and thx for sharing that personal view and impressions with me. It helps to know what I should focus on in the future. I get both your side and the players criticism as I try to keep my ear to the ground all check everyones thoughts. Tempest Rising will be great, as for ZeroSpace I am still not sure, but it might top Stormgate if most Asian players latch onto it.

@@perafilozof zerospace seems more geared for MP whereas stormgate I think seems to be trying to cater to single player and multiplayer. The game felt slower paced than starcraft 2 which I like. Zerospace seems really fast paced and more competitive focus and I can see why some people are looking forward to it. Its just good to see alot of RTS games coming out for a change.

I think you are on point there. The level of detail and professionals working on those games is really starting to show and push them close to AAA standards. But 90's and 00's AAA, not this new crap AAA companies are pushing these days.

For me storm gate would suck now,sadly!! Because they make it in ftp GARBAGE with pay bullshit with crap skins , extra units to pay and campaign mission to pay if you would continue to play ! Yeah , great work,really!! This shit is what generals 2 would look like ...but what the hell im really expected from ex- ACTIVISION/ Blizzard Devs.!! 🙄🙄

Hello and thank you for sharing your thoughts on this game and this practice. I know a lot of people dislike F2P practice and asking them money for everything. I am personally going to hold off on any judgements until I see the feel the system in practice. BTW which other game are you most looking forward to ?
