Perahera elephant out of control (Kelaniya, January 13, 2013)

During the Duruthu Perahera one of the participating elephants decided he did not want to continue with the procession...
No one was hurt, as far as I know - the elephant was removed, and the procession resumed after a short while.

Hi - this is a misunderstanding: the guy in the green top behind the elephant does not do anything to the animal (he is talking into his cellphone). Look closely: what you are seeing as a stick poking the elephant is actually the shadow of the dancer behind the green guy...
