UPDATE: the night this video went live, Percent reached out to me saying they forgot. They didn't have my color so they offered an e-white bottom or a Skog Reboot. I didn't like either option so I reached out to Kono who agreed to a return for store credit. I've taken this route and that closes out my journey. From the comments here, it seems like a lot of you have had similar experiences, and I don't see Percent resolving those so my message stands.

Percent Studio lights up ALL the red flags when they handled the Q&A for the Skog Reboot. Hell, some of the reviewers (big and small) receive broken parts. Quite sure they had no idea what were they doing.
@soulifyx37933 жыл бұрын
The flags were there all along since the beginning. Remember 90% of Canoe r1 have broken PCBs or the blue color for one of their boards in reality looks super off compared to their render?

@@soulifyx3793 Even worse than I thought. Thanks for pointing that out, I thought the Canoe R1 drama was overblown; turns out, it is that bad. I was very very lucky to miss out on this group buy and bought from more trusted group buy runners (i.e. RAMA and ai03).

I like how you are sincere in every way both from customer and vendors. Really not enough kb reviewers being honest from both ways. It is fully understandable wanting for replacement Btw I had similar experience with kbdfans but it was problem with pcb and top case. But that is a loooong stoory... So I was like having kb in basement for 8 months waiting :( these things happened exact same time as for you, i had to remind kbdfans constantly to send me replacement pcb and top case because they were ghosting too. The wort thing they didn't try to explain anything, they were just oh hi, did you write us? Wait. Later again oh yeah you wrote us - wait more! I was almost hoping not getting my keyboard fixed, but thankfully after 6 months things started moving by receiving top case and strangely pcb in entire different apckage later again 2 months Basicay it is annoying when bigger vendors are like ass. I understand doing mistakes if you are one guy in a basement, but if you have colleagues and it is 4-6 people thing it isn't like that anymote

Similar thing happened to be with Percent Volt. I ordered 2 WK Volt 80, but they didn't even bother shipping due to pandemic until I paid nearly $200 extra shipping fees. I need to keep asking literally every week for months for them to actually ship it. When it finally arrived, both end up being WKL version instead, and no battery. They said they will replace the top frame, but after kept on pushing them for months, they just ghosted me in the end as well. The volt 80 design was also come with my flaws that doesn't even work properly. 1. case does not have enough spaces for Hotswap socket. If screwed all the way, JST connector and Hotswap socket will get squished and break. 2. The top of PCB is too long and does not fit into the case properly without forces, which scratch off the paint on the bottom frame and potentially break the PCB. After seeing all these problem, I try to avoid Percent as much as we can. Their PCB is known to be flaw with crap software and I don't think they even bother to prototype on all their previous board prior to Skog 2.

There have been a few instances of poor production and QC in the community lately (read: past few years). I joined the ca66 GB and their plates were nothing short of terrible (edges looked like they were cut with a hacksaw) plus their PCBs tended to die for seemingly no reason (thus the separate PCB GB run by a different community member). I also just got my g60 after almost 2 years - many still haven't. ALF failed to produce some of the plates and other extras. Going forward I don't think I'll be joining GBs from smaller producers, will probably stick to Rama or NK.

Even if the pinned comment wasn't them reacting to negative press, having this interaction would instantly sour me on a producer. This isn't you being a big baby at all, it's percent thinking they can get away with ignoring you and not having to replace or provide a solution. Repeatedly ignoring you after deflecting your initial request is not the same as agreeing and then failing to follow up due to work load, life stress, or other forgivable factors. They repeatedly straight up ghosted you. I won't be buying anything from them, thanks for the heads up.

Oof, I have a skog reboot that is on the way (i think??) and ordered a trio75, still haven't received updates on the skog fulfillment & it looks like the percent discord is riddled with issues of the bluetooth pcb not working, not actually being compatible with via/QMK, missing components, etc. Has me a bit worried because it looks like these guys may need to get their shit together before pushing out all these GB's. I'm really hopeful there's no issues with either of the boards when I eventually get them.

"I understand that this problem is mostly my fault for rejecting the solution" Uuuh, no - this problem is100% Percent's fault (pardon the pun) for failing to deliver a working product. If these keyboard designers want to sell products for hundreds of dollars they need to be held accountable for it, sink or swim. The moment the issue was found the correct action would have been to initiate a recall and offer replacement OR refund, simple-as. The mentality that group buys are somehow immune to basic consumer rights is mind boggling to me in the keyboard community, way too much drinking of the kool-aid.

Percent boards are garbage the PCB's are super trash. The keyboards die between 3-6 months. If you see a percent board don't get it. That was my experience with the R1 Canoe. It was so bad that people had to cry at mechmerlin for a QMK replacement PCB to be made.

It's a $0 board if it doesn't work and the finish on the inside doesn't matter. Yes, this is inexcusable. But dremmeling out the board is about making it work instead of having an expensive paperweight.
