n my humble opinion question 34 could have been solved without using any variables- Akram's Marks: Passing Marks= 8:5 Since Akram's mark is 80% of the Max marks. Max. mark = 10. The difference between max marks and Akram's marks is given to be 30. The ratio difference of max marks(10) and Akram's marks(8) is 2. So, 2 is 30 Therefore, 5 (passing marks) = 75. Is this method correct?

@@riwanbank We have already burned our hard earned money on so-called big coaching. The result was sub-standard classes that focus on solving things, with no concept clarity. This is the only place that offered us the help we needed for CAT. Udit Sir did all of this and more for free. So unless you intend to sponsor other people's fees for these big coaching institutes, try having appreciation for Udit Sir's efforts. Peace.

No disrespect to sir , i am just sharing my opinion. In question no.34 , if you guys use ratios and balance out them , you will get the answer within 15-20 seconds. Ratio of passing marks and akram's marks is 8:5 Ratio of akram's marks and maximum marks is 4:5. Balance out ratios and you will get a combined ratio of akram marks , passing marks and maximum marks as 8:5:10. A.T.Q akram's score is 30 less than passing marks which is equal to 2parts , now use unitary method 30/2×5 = 75.

34th ko karne ka easy approach: Let the passing marks be X Akram score is 60% more than the passing marks: 1.6X (multiplying factor) Now his score his 30 less than the maximum marks, so that means that the maximum marks is 30 + Akram's score i.e 30 + 1.6X His score is 80% of the maximum score, so the equation would turn out to be: 80/100 * (30 + 1.6X) = 1.6X ...... after solving for X we get X = 75

Savitha got 72 percentage of marks which is 70 less than Mala marks (430) . So Savitha got 360 marks . 72%. = 360 100%. =. 500. (360×(100/72) 500 is the total mark , given that 35 percent is passing mark 500×(35/100) =175 Hope it is clear now
