I've all but given up fishing the stretch. It's a bleak place to spend a day pulling sanitary towels off the hook.

Not to mention the volume of angler waste on the bank! Bait tins, pouches, line, rigs, beer bottles. Every single swim between swineford and keynsham. Properly shameful

@@Joecoleman84 I gave up fishing locally for similar reasons and it’s only since covid forcing me to re-embrace local fishing that I have renewed interest. It was a wake up call - that driving to better and nicer fisheries leaves no one behind to challenge these issues. I reckon some coordinated volunteer bailiffing / river clean up would help, even if it’s just once or twice a year in summer. Never seen one between Keynsham and Swineford. Would probably need a minimum of four people wearing cameras. It’s a bit like dog sht - a handful of repeat offenders getting away with it.

The waste is gobsmacking, words fail me. It's a disgrace. Think of the future of our children and wildlife. Nice vid charlie and ian.

Vile isn’t it. What blows my mind is hearing born and bred Avon anglers saying “it’s always been like it”. Hopefully this and the other vid I’m making that just focuses on this issue will make them think again. All these new housing developments going up and being attached to an already severely overloaded and archaic sewage system

Really is disgusting water authorities need to be held accountable 👎🧐🤬

Thanks for commenting on this Simon. You’re absolutely right - it sometimes feels like an impossible battle but we mustn’t give up. I’m just in the process of making a separate KZbin vid that focuses exclusively on this issue and the little bit of progress that’s being made.

Such a shame that the water authorities use the rivers as a dumping ground. But great that public awareness of this issue is so high. Also, can’t believe what a meal I made of netting that perch. I think my arms had stopped working. I was just waiting for the perch to come off!
