Nice video mate. I also prefer the more buoyant sticks like the big TRD, but have had a few great days with sinkers like the KVD ocho that just fall flat and stick to the bottom.

Yeah, been meaning to try the Strike King Ocho. So they don’t stand upright? They seem to work either way!
@caladoodledoo_gone_fishing10 ай бұрын
@Lifeonthebank yeah, they lay flat on a cheb so would very likely do the same on a ned. I've not actually used them on a ned yet. Last time out was a short session on a very pressured spot but caught a lot of 1 to 2lb fish, gave me good confidence in them. They smell great as well 😆

High Nick, Yet again another great video with loads of info, the first four we're absolutely gorgeous, and then you go and finish it off with an absolute stonker of a fish 🐟. You definitely seem to be overjoyed with the success of the stick bait & the creature baits. I think you use a rubber landing net ? are they definitely an advantage over the old standard landing net ? as i have an old pan net that i would be using and yes it has some depth to it. Did the early pike do any damage to the fluro carbon ?? Thanks again mate always a pleasure to watch and learn . Cheers Les.
@Lifeonthebank10 ай бұрын
Thanks Les. I prefer a rubber net. They are certainly better when I’m using crankbaits or lures with trebles! They also dry a lot quicker too, handy if you’re carrying them around or hanging them on your back! Yes, I checked the fluoro but it was ok! 👍 Thanks for checking out the video 😁👍

@Lifeonthebank10 ай бұрын
Thanks mate. I fish lots of short sessions and across quite a few rivers and stretches. Eventually you stumble on them and then you can focus on those areas for a bit.

Great video and great perch! I've been following your channel for a while and find your content to be some of the best and most informative out there👍 However I have a question, the last season I've used a cheb rig almost exclusively no matter if I used shads, creaturebaits or stickworms. The main reason being that I find it extremly flexible because I can match the weight and the hook to the situation. I also feel that it gives me a great presentation. Now to my question; Do you think I will lose out on presentation with a light cheb head and a hook matched to my stickbait as opposed to a "proper" ned jighead? Obviously I'm talking about using a buoyant stickbait?
@Lifeonthebank10 ай бұрын
Thanks for following the channel and for the great question! I feel that a buoyant stickbait does actually work very well on a Cheb. The articulated join on the cheb facilitates it to stand upright. Although, some EWG hooks can be quite big and heavy so maybe drop this down a bit. Best thing to do is to try it in the edge if possible. I certainly have some parts of the river where I’m forced to fish weedless, and I’ll do so with confidence 👍 Maybe also check out this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5nJpWWbg6iJrbssi=Ba6HQYucbDlP71Rk see around 2m50 for my cheb presentation. Good luck with your fishing 👍👍👍🎣
@k954ever10 ай бұрын
@@Lifeonthebank Thank you for your reply! I will check out the linked video as well. I've tried a lot of different hooks on different lures, EWG hooks, worm hooks and recently some straight long shank hooks for the longer shads. For the stickbaits I'm also thinking straight, relatively thin hooks in order to let the bait be as buoyant as possible.
@Lifeonthebank10 ай бұрын
The video features the 5g zman shroomz jigheads. Yes, exactly as you say, they have a fairly fine wire which stops them tipping over 👍👍

Nick do you feel like the Ned rig is ( for me ) the snaggiest rig going? I find I have an average of 5 casts and then snagged! Possibly the rivers I fish, being the Medway and tributaries off the Medway. Would they be as effective on a T-rig?
@Lifeonthebank10 ай бұрын
In that scenario I would use a cheb. Bring the hook size down a bit if it’s falling over to one side. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5nJpWWbg6iJrbssi=blHLPPF7E6GNfODC - see 2m50. 👍

Hi new to purch fishing how do youknow what size hooks for what size bait?
@Lifeonthebank10 ай бұрын
Good question. On most stickbaits I find a size 1 about right. Any bigger and I find that they can push the lure over onto its side. On shads I’ll use the hook that exits the shad about half way down.
