Perch fishing in River Barrow Canal

just a little bite time I spend at river barrow canal and was trying to catch some perch.

Nice video, love that stretch,. Never fished it in flood though. I fished the canal yesterday in your usual 2 km stretch between locks, and only had a few jacks so I tried wide swim just beyond the higher lock where stream flows in and landed some decent perch on crecraw and uv grubs using a very texas rig. It's as if the fish moved upstream threw the locks and there was alot of rud/roach rising so I decided to have a few casts. I never bother that swim usually as I never had much success? Anyhow I've learnt a lot from your videos and techniques with soft baits which has increased my catch rate considerably. Thanks🎣

I'm not fishing any more in that sector. To many people does fishing and everything has been changed in those years. Sector was really good but some people destroyed it

Nice video as always...Do you ever look at moon phases when fishing and do you think it effects the fishing I notice at the end of video you said ya know when it is a good time sorry for the questions but Im really interested in river fishing and think it's strange how fish are on and off some days I know when I'm seafishing for bass the moon phase seems to be a big factor

Hi. Thank u so much. And I should say u are right about the moon. When moon is completely full then fish is not really active but there is some moments when fish is going to feed but it cud be only for a hour and then they gone again. Just need to catch that moment and need to know where is that fish. If to be honest with you I fishing in any time and day even if it is really bad for fishing. Always trying to catch no matter how bad it is.

@@thestrongrod6167 yes i notice that with bass fishing aswell on the full moon. I find its really good at first light during a full moon is there Any moon phase that you think is best or when fish are most active???? Few days either side of a new moon or full I find very productive with the bass fishing anyway

@@noelhynes8670 in my opinion fish is active when moon is a half of the size. But I still not making a big deal. I can't to choose a moon and wheatear so I do fishing only on weekends. I would say we need to enjoy every moment when we fishing even if we catching one or two fish. 🐠🎣😁

Thank u. When I doing jigging I always letting bait to tuch ground. Even I leaving the bait on the ground for 2 seconds. Some times perch prefer to take if of the ground but most times he hits when bait starts to move. And also need to find out with weight is the best for that time. He cud like fast game and some times it need a slow game.

For perch I using trout area baits. They are very soft and very flexible. Also I'm using rains bait, Perchik, fanatik and Boroda bait. Perchik I'm getting from Lithuania, Fanatik US, Boroda baits I was buying from Douhook shop in Drogheda but I am not shore if they still selling them. Also crazy fish. U can get them in Vivado.ie shop lacated in Tullamore. If to be honest with you not every bait is good. One bait cud be the best in River Liffey or blesington lake but it cud be bad in River Barrow or other lake or river. So it is very hard to say with one is the best. Always trying something new.

Great video buddy, always love your content. I normally fish that spot a few times a year and get some very decent Perch but iv only been there 2 or 3 times in the last 2 years and same results slim to none. I get a lot of my stuff from Ali express as well great deals and very strong for the most part.

Thank u. I would like to make more videos but life is bit change and don't have much time for it. About Aliexpress. There is good stuff but definitely u need to know what u are getting. 90% for perch fishing I'm getting from Ali but never I buying lines or baits from there but rest stuff like hooks, clips and weights I always getting from there.
