Perch Fishing on Lake Gogebic (2+ pound JUMBOS)

On this weeks episode we head up to Lake Gogebic, Michigan to fish with Tony Aloia from Eskimo Ice Fishing Gear. It's the last ice fishing trip of the season so we decided to bring out the reliable Bite Me Boxes and JawJacker tip-ups one last time. We learn about Eskimo's dedication to the sport as we absolutely clobber these MONSTER perch!

That is a float to prevent the line from being frozen in the hole when the fish takes the bait!

Maybe a little like combining a trap with a fishing pole, but I see a big similarity to the "snap" action of a down rigger. I still fish blind still catch fish. I am not jealous of or upset with my fellow anglers that enjoy and employ modern technology. If I were heading there in the morning I'd be running tip ups with treble hooks, likely harm a much greater % of the fish. Cool to see the fish shallow enough to survive the catch and release. Stay topside everyone, tight lines!
