Dolphins and Orcas are social creatures. If they are to be kept in aquariums, they should be together in families in large tanks. Not isolated in small tanks and forced into depression like this. And according to what I read on Wikipedia, "Li’i, the remaining 40-year-old, male Pacific white-sided dolphin that was expected to be moved with Lolita, was relocated to SeaWorld San Antonio and reunited with family members and other Pacific white-sided dolphins to avoid remaining in solitary following Lolita's death." Rest in peace, Lolita. You are finally free to join your pod in the sky 💔

Lolita's tank is the most smallest in the world now. But two or one year ago the most smallest tank was the tank of orca named Morgan in dolphinarium in Holland. Now Morgan live in Loro Park in Spain. But she as unhappy as Lolita. P.S. The Yellow orca in the sky looks like Keiko(This male orca played the role of Willy in "Free Willy"

Vera Gordeeva you are right it does look like Keiko that played Willy in Free Willy it looks identical to him it's the first one I have seen in lights I ever seen especially in the sky and never even seen it's the first one I've ever seen Ashley I thought I wasn't even able to see the real one because I was only cuz he died in 2003 and I was born in 2008 so I'm with you is the first one I sing first on scene in yellow you know I've been watching videos about cake AmeriCU be watching videos about every other orca whale in the world cuz I really do want to learn more about lol I love killer whales they're the best animals that are beautiful they there well everything I can think of and the most reason why I love them is because well there was a killer whales and and if someone else that lock them who would work for like the only ones that like them don't let the only ones that like them so if we didn't like them killers Ashley not or just well and the ones in captivity well they get tired of thing they can tired of you know just doing the same old same old you know they do get tired of the same old same old and and I hate to say it but I really want to work with glitter Rose when I grow up but my specialty I'm thinking about working with the ones in the wild is but other than that animals including the wheels I even have the movie Free Willy and I watch it all the time you know cuz I left you know Wells and I'm working out I'm thinking about you know working with killer whales in the wild if I can find any and new tricks and all that good stuff give them fish and maybe show them I even have a harmonica and listen to the sound I'm not that good at playing the harmonica yeah but I'm going to get better I'll just walk away

This is amaing! I totally agree, but it's much worse. The whale is traumatized and taken away from it's family and put in a tiny pool ( at least from the orcas perspective it's like a bathtub) where even during the day the loud music annoys them. They perform the loud show 3 times a day non stop! They could be in the peaceful ocean doing what they do.

I just had a very weird experience.. I watched this beautiful film. I got to the end and saw the honor to Lolita. Now to keep it short, I care very deeply about the ocean and animals. I searched up Lolita to learn more, I went into this thinking she was of course dead by now without a second thought. When I searched her up and immediately my eyes are filled with articles of Lolita's retirement at 56 years old I started crying. That kind of deep ugly soul shattering cry. The one where you feel choked and your face becomes wer. I don't cry easily and this happened instantly. She's still alive, after so so many years, and she's still in captivity. I can't believe this, I can't fucking believe people.

Very touching. I am privileged enough to see the southern residents almost everyday as part of my job, and it breaks my heart that Lolita had what they have taken from her. I think she remembers her former life too, and this animation made me tear up a little. On a more technical note, great work with the animating the movement of an orca, its rather accurate. Well done.

I'm actually writing an orca story myself, for a game. Not exactly about captivity, but has strong parallels to it. The underlying concepts are inspired by conversations in the game SOMA; world perception and identity. It's also inspired by the stories of Springer and Luna. Not to trying to be a jerk, just wanted to point out that orcas eyes are smaller then that. So small they are hard to see.

Their eyes arent that small. If you look at pictures of killer whales you can see their eyes (depending on angle and time of day it was taken. Most orcas have dark brown eyes so that makes it hard to see them. Lolita has blue eyes though.

cute animation. I saw that you created this from rocky mountain college. I was thinking of going there, that's how I found this animation. I'm not so sure now after seeing the unrealistic quality of the flow and movement of the character animation and water particles used for splashing and all. I love Orca whales, they are one of my favorite creatures, I've painted a lot of them, but the animation needs some work. Nice story line and very touching though.
