I feel the same as you...at the time I was only 4 years old, so, of course I found out about this music later...in 1973, and, I don't know why, since the very first time, it gave me a taste of something good in the past...this music seems to be containing a compelling sense of a melancholic nostalgia.....otherwise, how could I feel nostalgic for a time I didn't live ?!?.....I don't know !

However, he only has 3% of his hearing left, and it grieves me that he can no longer enjoy this song because he can no longer hear it. This is something you listen to with your heart as well as your ears. Movie themes from yesteryear were some of the most beautiful music compositions, of which Percy Faith and Henry Mancini were masters... lush arrangements with the strings section in the forefront. Simply magical.

This went to Number 1 on the charts for 9 weeks, still a record for an instrumental. There were versions with vocals too, including Andy Williams and The Lettermen. There's an old black and white video on KZbin of the orchestra recording the instrumental in the studio, it's fun to watch if you like strings. Great song choice!

Such a beautiful song that brings back happy memories of my youth. The sweet strings are amazing, the horns so classy, and the whole orchestra perfection. This was written in 1959 for the movie "Summer Place" starring Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. It won a Grammy for Song of the year in 1961. It was at Number 1 for 9 weeks. I'm sure it's been in many movies since then. 💎💎💎💎 Thanks Harri. Beautiful memories. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

This dreamy song evokes memories of a more innocent time in our world. Another instrumental that has the same effect is the lovely medley of "Moonglow and Theme From Picnic" by film composer and music director Morris Stoloff, a huge hit in 1956.

Super nostalgic hearing & seeing a few of the instrumentals that often played in my youth receive attention on the channel. I often think of myself as having eclectic musical tastes, but listening to this today, I realized that my parents were teens in the '40's & '50s, my elder sisters in the '60s & '70s, and my own formative years fell in the '70s & '80s. Given how often music was played in our home, it's no wonder they run the gamut!

Max Steiner's beauty made better with Percy's great arrangement. It dominated late 1959 and 60; best selling instrumental for many years; won a grammy in the heart of rock and roll. All types of music were on the radio in those days and people bought all types, not like now. I think the song is both romantic and erotic depending on your feelings at the moment. Copied a lot but none better than Percy's version.
