Danny and Niamh here! We are back with episode 7 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians 'We Find Out The Truth, Sort Of'.
I was on the edge of my seat waiting for Danny's reactions to the insane plot twists in this one and his confusion did not disappoint... nor do his theories.
CERBERUS, HADES, POSEIDON, CRUSTY?!?! And of course a big shout out to Virginia Kull, she absolutely stole the show for me! I'm really enjoying what they've done with Sally's character in this adaption.
Thank you all so much for watching, feel free to leave your thoughts down below! One more to go...

Danny has decided to stay away from the comments on this series (for now). He won't be spoiled, I'll make sure of it 🤫 I'll pass on any thoughts you would like to share with him though! If you would like to talk about book content, maybe just give a little spoiler warning at the start of your comment, just to be mindful of other new ‘tv show only’ viewers! Thanks for watching everyone❤

I loved how they did Hades. It's a complete subversion of how people expect Hades to be.

Thanks for your thoughtful reactions - I enjoy them greatly. Just FYI, Porcrustes was just as Percy describes him in Greek mythology - he kills travelers by trapping them in a bed, and either stretching them, or chopping off their extremities, so they'd fit. One little detail a lot of people have missed - the jingle that plays when the front door is opened is "La Marseillaise," the French national anthem, which was popularized during the revolution (guillotine, anyone?).

I think its really interesting that the show is trying to lead the viewer into believing that Annabeth is the traitor, both with the regret scene and the idea that Hades helm seems to be Annabeths hat, the way they executed it is interesting and not something they really did in the book.

What I love about this episode is how it highlights that Poseidon really wants to be part of Percy’s life, but is obligated to stay away from him. We also see that lesson about how looks can be deceiving as most assume Hades is an envious and villainous god but is actually quite the opposite as he only wants to be free of family drama and his rightful property restored. The moment Percy has to make the choice to leave his mom for now is so much impactful as you remember the last words of the prophecy: “And you shall fail to save what matters in the end.” Can’t wait for the season finale!!! 🧑🏼‍🦱👩🏿‍🦱🧑🏾‍🦱☠️🌊🪖🔱⚡️💙💛🖤🩶

I looove the discussions at the end of these reactions! Niamh, you are great at asking questions and guiding the conversation without spoiling anything!! 🥰🥰 As a book reader, what do you think Annabeth's regret is? I think it's probably about her family but it could definitely also be about Thalia
@CoyzyMovieNight

I personally feel that it’s about her dad. Annabeth was very young when she left her family and I think her relationship with her dad/family weighs on her a lot ☹️but I guess we will see what the show goes with!

I love the Crusty's scene in the books. With the way they did it in the show, they needn't have bothered including it.

This portrayal of the underworld is so much more interesting than most. Usually it's some dark cave or underground labyrinth but the open sky look actually made it much more menacing. Also, during the flashback of Percy and his mom in the car I'm not sure I took a single breath. My mom is Spanish and if I had said "no" to her like that, much less locked her out of the car, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have survived childhood. 😉

I feel that Athena used Hades Helm to steal the Master Bolt and gave it to her brother Ares and then gave Hades Helm to Annabeth to cover the fact that she stole the bolt.

Loved your discussions and a great reaction as always! This was up there as one of my top episodes; I loved the Poseidon/Sally flashback, the Sally/Percy scenes destroyed me (especially when he accused her of getting rid of him). The underworld was such a cool design - lifeless and dreary; Cerberus was so cute lol my toxic trait is I'd want to pet him 🤣 I also love the portrayal of Hades in this show, its more in line with how he's portrayed in ancient Greek and not just the overly evil villain. I'm so excited for the next episode but I'm so sad that its gonna be over. I love Danny's theories theyre so interesting. As a book reader one thing I've really enjoyed is seeing the non-readers theories on what they think is gonna happen.

Awesome video 💯‼️ Also Julian Richings played Charon in the Percy Jackson film which is the only nod to the film. Also you need to watch on the tv screen as the lighting is much better than on a computer screen also the series is a more faithful adaptation than the films but it also follows the graphic novel and Rick Riordan changed loads of things when making the book into a graphic novel. So I personally like changes that are in the series and I hope that they follow the graphic novel more in the final episode versus the book. 😅😊

You get a perfectly adequate amount of socialization as a homeschooler. As a homeschooler myself, I had a lot of different friends and experiences. I also had a variety in my socialization; I could hold great conversations with people of all ages while my peers who were in public school could not. It’s a myth that homeschooling doesn’t let kids be socialized.

Apologies, homeschooling isn’t very common where we’re from so we don’t know that much about it to be honest. We appreciate hearing your experience ❤️

I mean it entirely depends on who your parents are. You were very very lucky to have very good parents who were homeschooling you that provided you with adequate socialization. But it is absolutely an extremely common thing for homeschooling to NOT give adequate socialization especially if it's heavily religion based... It can be extremely socially isolating but yeah, it entirely depends on WHO the parents are and WHAT homeschooling program they've decided to implement with their kids... You're just one of the lucky ones who got very good socialization... I've met plenty of homeschooled children who absolutely did not. 🤷‍♀️

@@AnxietyRat ok so the dozens of families I knew from two different states, in homeschool co-ops and/or church who had great family relationships and dynamics and lots of friends were just coincidence? I’m not saying it can’t happen, it does happen that some parents “homeschool” in order to isolate their children but you are equating abuse with a schooling method. That’s a what I don’t like. Literally no legitimate proponent of homeschooling would want that for children. Those types of parents are using a legitimate system to mask their abuse, this happens all the time with all sorts of things. That doesn’t make the thing itself bad, it makes the abuser bad. Like I said I knew dozens of families in California and Oregon and their families were by far happier, had better family relationship and were better at thinking for themselves than the public school children I knew. The public school children I knew were often mean, anxiety ridden, they hated their parents and their siblings and this just wasn’t the case for my friends who were homeschooled. People say that it is the exception that homeschoolers are not weird and are socialized but I think it is the other way around. Most homeschoolers are normal children with normal lives who eventually go on to college and have good lives. I’m really not trying to be rude or combative, I just feel that this is an unjustified stigma and that is why so many former homeschoolers are speaking out against it. I recommend giving this short article a look. www.cbsnews.com/news/can-homeschoolers-do-well-in-college/

@@CoyzyMovieNight no worries! Thank you for understanding. Unfortunately it’s a stigma that’s just part of the air we breathe nowadays, which is why I try to give my side of things. It’s starting to make it hard to homeschool in some places in the States, so that’s why a lot of us are trying to speak up because we don’t want to see it go away! Also love your reactions to the show!

Literally all three of them have something major to regret though. I am not sure why the fields singled out Annabeth. Either she was standing still the longest, or was actively thinking about her regret.
