The underworld is the place where ALL dead people go. There’s no “heaven” in Greek mythology. The underworld has different parts, the closest equivalent to “heaven” are the fields of elysium which are still in the underworld. The fields of asphodel are for everyone who was kinda average yanno. Fields of punishment are for bad people. Tartarus is like hell X2 for all the monsters.

It's shocking to me how many people think Greek Underworld = Christian Hell. I mean, I understand not knowing the ins and outs of it but people are way too quick to jump to Christian-like conclusions about the Underworld even though it belongs to a whole separate belief system

In my opinion with Grover the quest would not have been successful at all if he hadn’t been able to get Percy and Annabeth to understand one another. He has always been the heart of the books to me and I think that’s what he offers a lot here.

The OG series ''Percy Jackson & The Olympians'' has 5 books, then there's another series of 5 books with more characters ''Heroes Of Olympus'' , then another 5 books set in the same world (but without percy as a main character) ''The Trials Of Apollo'' + a trilogy the author is finishing writing with the main trio. There are also two trilogies ''The Kane Chronicles'' and ''Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard'' with completely different characters and stories where Percy and Annabeth make a cameo. AND a couple of short books/stories set in the same world.

Grover is vital in getting Percy and Annabeth to understand each other and keeping the peace, especially early on. Plus, he is absolutely vital to the story later on. I don't understand how people can dismiss him especially when he was the one who called out both Percy and Annabeth for their hard-headedness during the Medusa Episode. Plus, Grover is empathic and can speak to animals, while not overly shown in the series (thus far) that is a huge thing later on and is very very important. The quest needs three people to succeed, the Mind, the Heart, and the Soul- Annabeth is the Mind, Percy is the Heart, but Grover is the Soul.

Quick Underworld tour! - For our heroes, the Elysium! If you were a hero, you're here and you can choose to stay or to be reborn. If a hero chooses to be reborn 3x, and reaches Elysium 3x, they can enter a special Island which is like, an even greater heaven. - Fields of Asphodel, we saw this one! Most people go here. Average life with regrets and whatnot, you're fated to just keep on thinking about those eternally. - Fields of Punishment, where bad people go to get punished. - Tartarus, where true evil forms. Fun fact, Tartarus is not only a place, it's also a living being, much like Gaia is the Earth and Uranus is the sky. It's a horrible place and it's where monsters go after heroes kill them, they reform there and then find their way back to the human world eventually. I love the design for the underworld! It's so empty, much like how we fear death may be. Also, Cerberus (3 headed dog) is originally from the greek myths, so HP is the one that borrowed it lol. It guards the realms of the dead. And books-wise, we have the original 5 books, all from Percy's perspective. Then, 5 books of Heroes of Olympus, where we have main 7 heroes and their own perspectives and stories uniting to fight a common enemy, then the 5 books of Trials of Apollo, which is... well, focused on Apollo and the trials he must face to fix a huge mess he made. (It's my favorite of the 3). We're now getting a new Percy-focused trilogy as well, which is really cool and nostalgic!! Either way, all book series are really cool 😊❤ as usual I enjoy your comments, even though I feel like poor Grover should get more recognition for that early effort to keep the team united lmao

One of the things alot of modern adaptations get wrong is that Hades is mostly a chill guy, epescualy when compared to the other gods. Unlike his brothers and sisters he doesn't mess with mortals or heroes. The only time he does intervene is when people break into his home or try to disrupt the natural order of death. The only two times I would say he did anything Malicious was when he had one doctor smited because he was resurrecting dead people and traped Theseus in the underworld because he was trying to kidnap his wife.

I still stand by the fact that this show needed more time if you're only gonna do eight episodes of season you need longer episodes like what they do with Netflix shows it just makes more sense gives you more time to flush out different story beats especially if you're going to both follow along with the original story and also add bits to it to expand the law or the universe and it feels like the author of the book Rick riding is a bit confused with what exactly he's trying to do because on the one hand expanding the story is a really good idea adding new things that we didn't see before etc is a good idea, especially setting up for this reveal with Kronas instead of Hades being the bad guy, which will set up with future things for future seasons, but we still definitely needed longer episodes to handle all of that, especially with the first two being very heavy and being more telling then showing, which didn't really help I think it should've had a bit more runtime so it could flush things out a little bit more before we started the quest instead of just rushing straight to it and especially with the episode just before with the Lotus casino they brushed over a lot of things that should've been included to make it really clear how ominous and dangerous that place is, by adding them doing fun things playing games especially since it's not just a casino it's also a hotel so seeing them playing games riding the rollercoaster maybe or just doing other fun activities before they realise what's going on I think really would've helped things up with the episode, especially adding in that people have been there for decades and you can still have the stuff with Hermes added in but just by making the episode a little bit longer especially since that one was the shortest out of all of them I think it would've just cleared things up for new viewers like myself. As for this episode you can't say he's the ruler of the underworld or the ruler of all dead people and then make it look like hell and expect people to understand because I completely understand where trophy reacts is coming from because let's be honest when you watch that episode your thoughts are oh this feels like an episode of stranger things or this feels really ominous and dark it's very grey scale there's not a lot of colour it feels really creepy like you are in hell, it also feels just really depressing and especially with the fields of Aspendell that's not a field that's a forest and the thing with regret doesn't really make sense if this is supposed to be in between because that still feels like a punishment the whole thing still feels very much like you're walking into hell as opposed to just the afterlife in general so I can't be the only one that thinks that and I can see other people who haven't even read the books at all and no even less than me like trophy reacts thinking it's hell because it really does look like hell it really paints the picture that he is the ruler of hell not the afterlife in general and I think that if you'd added in a little bit more colour made this place brighter shown different sections I think in the books the fields they're supposed to be people standing around giving you the impression that they're waiting for something as opposed to actually being tracked like it's an in between stage so they're just kind of walking around Amos Lee as opposed to actually being punished and being trapped there, so that was in my opinion very confusing and the fact that it was all dark and mysterious did not help, again this is just my opinion but as someone who knows very little about the series I can say that I understand where other people who haven't seen it at all or know nothing about the books or anything watching this for the first time and thinking yeah he's the ruler of hell because that is literally the impression you get as opposed to he's the ruler of the afterlife and I just find that really weird especially since it's being written by the same person who wrote the books you'd think he would catch onto that and actually make it brighter and more colourful especially since he is the one who wrote it and in so many other depictions of Hades he is this bad evil guy but in reality he's not in Greek mythology or in the Percy Jackson series, speaking of which this didn't really feel much like a Percy Jackson episode and that's also a little bit of a issue, I do think that if you're going to show Hades is actually a really good guy as opposed to what you might think he is then you also need to show that the afterlife isn't hell and isn't what you think it is but they only kind of went halfway where they made him a better person then the movies did painting him is actually a good guy who's just misunderstood but then they made it look like he lived in hell and that does not make sense his castle should've been the brightest thing there should've been more colourful, I know that there are a lot of issues with the films, but you have to admit they did get some things right even if they went about it the wrong way or it wasn't accurate to the books, I am really trying not to nitpick and I'm sorry if it comes off that way, my point that I'm just trying to get across is that I felt like this episode was very misleading for new viewers when it comes to who Hades is and really did feel like he was the ruler of hell as opposed to the ruler of the afterlife which I feel like was a mistake made by both the writers and the production team and the CGI department it should've been colourful it should've been brighter especially for the parts that weren't supposed to be hell or the bad part because otherwise if you make the whole thing look like hell people aren't gonna make that distinction and they aren't gonna realise oh this is just the afterlife in general like I can see many people not making that distinction and not understandingso I think that that was a mistake but other than that this was a much better episode.

Hades is arguably one of the best of the Gods. Like both in mythology and in this series. Is so valid to not trust him at first because the show depicts ALL Gods as bad/selfish but im crying at you saying you don’t trust him just because he is the king of the underworld 😭😭 that truly means nothing shdjdj. I know you were explained already but just a reminder: the underworld is not christian hell. Is a diff set of beliefs. Everyone, even Gods if they were to die, go there. There’s different areas of the afterlife for good and bad people, but they are all in the underworld and Hades oversees it all. He is like even in greek mythology just a chill dude who doesn’t care much for the other Gods’ dramas😭😭

I'm probably not allowed to say this without people biting my head off but I'm not a fan of Anabeth... you said that Percy and Anabeth could've done the queste without Grover but I think Percy doesn't have to be there either because Anabeth takes care of everything, rescues everyone and knows everything and figuree everything out. Percy's just there because the shows named after him. It's probably just me🤷‍♀️ I really liked this episode especially the scene with Percy's mom and Poseidon. Best episode yet, I agree! But like you said there is no suspense... there's a war coming oh whatever 🤷‍♀️ feeling... Great reaction!

Eh, I can see your point as i also wish the show would let her be surprised by things more often (since she's still just a kid, brilliance aside), but I reckon all 3 of them are important for different reasons. Annabeth knows the machinations of this world and where to go, but there have been several instances where it's percy's recklessness and boldness that ultimately saves them. Had she been the one to stay in the arch, she would've been dead. She also wouldn't have been able to defeat Medusa alone, and as fiercer as she is compared to her book counterpart, Percy's no-nonsense atitude w the gods is what allows him to have guts to bargain and ultimately find his way through impossible scenarios. I agree Grover sadly feels kinda displaceable, but I feel like this is a consequence of having percabeth get closer a lot sooner (compared to the books at least) than a fault of the character itself. He's actually way smarter and braver here than in the books, and it'd be great to see him be the glue and the mediator all the way through s1. But I guess him being like this right now is important for his arc with Pan later on as he matures a lot.

@user-gg1on7xc6v Annabeth might be well read, but that absolutely shouldn't mean she is prepared for everything. Her trope of character is one that is very common in fiction and imo the books handle her better, the show is making her a little too knowledgeable. The point is she's supposed to be wise beyond HER age, but she's also a little girl who has been at camp since she was 7, going out for the first time. She's not supposed to be street smart in book 1, or outsmart beings that are hundreds of years older than her (at least not right now). That's where percy should come in. ( I do like that they made her recognize Medusa's lair, though, as that should be very obvious for any veteran camper). As for Grover, yes, he was the mediator between percabeth in episode 3, and he's been given a lot more to do than his book counterpart. But having Annabeth and Percy already be on good terms all the time and constantly separating Grover from them makes him seem disconnected from the trio. The last time he felt as close to both Percy and Annabeth as Percabeth is to each other now was ep 3. In both ep 5 and 6 he was randomly doing other things that ultimately lead to nowhere while percabeth solved the main "side quest" of the episode. Yes, he manipulated Ares and it was a nice scene to highlight his skills as an empath, but plot wise, the "information" he think he got was a dead end. The scene with that satyr in the lotus ep continues to set up his future plot with Pan, but again: it's completely detached from the main plot, making him seem dispensable and that absolutely should not happen!
