Steinberg’s attitude to the growing kids, particularly Walker, is reassuring. They’re prioritizing the fabulous chemistry over an exact age fit to the books. You cast a 12 year old boy and sometimes they mature late and so they can do younger roles for longer. That didn’t happen with Walker so they’re running with the reality of him being adult height essentially by Season 2 because his acting qualities are off the chart.

@@GoAwayImSleeping Bopping said in one of her behind the scenes YT videos that Walker grew 6” from when filming began in July 2022 when he was 3 1/2 to when it ended in February 2023 a month after he turned 14 from 5’ 1” to 5’ 7”. I’d estimate he grew another 3” in the year since then (he’s just turned 15) so he’s close to 5’ 10” and likely will grow a little bit more. You can see him easily shorter than Aryan at the beginning, slightly taller by the end of the series and now he’s easily taller than Aryan and Aryan was aged 15 to 17 so would’ve likely also still been growing some as well.

my only concern is about the aging of a different character, how are they going to keep thalia looking the same age throughout the series, if shes supposed to join the hunters and not age anymore, which is pretty important to the plot of the book lol

I started off with the movies, then I read the books, Percy Jackson has been my life for so long, and now to finally have this on TV like this I get to watch it every day on Disney+ whether it’s a new episode, or not, and it’s a true dream come true for me.

What I find amusing is how Rick ranted against the movie because they 'aged-up' the actors... and yet, due to the time between seasons, he's faced with the very same issue he complained so much about. Right now Walker is already look so much older, and by the time they get all these seasons done, he's going to be in his 20's.

If they stick to the mainline Percy Jackson books it shouldn't be a problem. What will become a problem is if they greenlight the multitude of other books that include Percy Jackson, outside of the main "And The Olympians" series. I could see this being a possibility, although i'm not sure if they wanna turn this show into a whole cinematic universe made up of Rick's other works. At the current rate they're going it's still much better than the movies.

There will be a revolt if the adaptation of the Siren Bay chapter is messed up I think. It was a big one for the second book. We saw Annabeth’s inner world more, had an explanation for why she hated the cyclopes and Percy got his confidence back after Circe not to mention all that power being thrown around. Second visit to Princess Andromeda is also something to look forward to as well (I’m partial to the part Luke was Hit by those custom boxing glove arrows😂) but I don’t like how they made the Iris messages so it takes away from the viewing pleasure a bit.

honestly I'd start on scripting the later seasons now and revise them as the new seasons get approved, none of the young actors they hire are in charge of how fast they're growing so while rushing things has turned out terribly before, whatever they can do now(scripting, storyboarding, etc.) they should do now so they can take advantage of the time they have

Zeus doesn't appear again until Book three, so they do have time for that sort of torch (Or lightning Bolt) passing. Also, since Thalia appears at the end of the second book, I'm too worried about that.

Gods we would be seeing in S2 because of who is in book 2: Mr D,(Mr Mantzoukas) Ares,(Mr "Edge" Copeland) Hermes (Mr Miranda). And glimpses of Athena(who will they cast?) and Percy's dad,the setting is maritime afterall. We don't see Olympus or the underworld in book 2,so we they won't have to look for Zeus until S3 and H des (Mr Duplass) won't return until the Divine Council scene at the end of 3,which will inntroduce the Big Three's sisters. MAYBE Hephaestus will be in Season 2. Season 3 has the most amount of casting,because we meet the last male god Apollo, and two goddesses.

I think they should cast Ariana Greenblatt, who was known for playing Daphne Diaz from Disney Channel series Stuck In The Middle, played a younger version of Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War, younger version of Ashoka in Ashoka, and America Ferreira’s daughter Sasha (basically based on Bratz) from a huge hit Barbie written & directed by Greta Gerwig, as Silena Beauregard in Season 2 ASAP!

I don't think the differences between Walker's actual age and Percy's in-show age actually matter. It's common for actors around that age to play characters that are younger than they actually are. I also trust Disney to know how to age him down a little if needed. They've been casting actors in their 20s to play teens in their TV shows, so they have the experience needed, if necessary. As for Walker's height, that can be worked around with camera angles and editing, but I don't see that being an issue either. It's not abnormal for kids in the age 12-16 age range to be much taller or much shorter than their friends. As far as I remember, their height's aren't crucial to any major plot points, so if it doesn't line up exactly like the book says, its fine.

Well considering this, it may have been better to hire even younger actors like stranger things did. I had no idea that Lance past away! Well since Zeus is a god, he can change his appearance at will; but yeah only Hermes is supposed to be in the second book(season 2). Daniel Radcliffe was actually the same age as Harry Potter until there were production delays with the third movie “prisoner of Azkaban” the age was close enough though. It is funny because as I’m watching a series like young Sheldon, I don’t notice the age change as I’m watching until I see flashbacks. I actually am looking forward to season 3 that covers “Titans curse”; that was one of my favorite books. I do have to say though that I havnt been impressed with how underwhelming the series feels including the gods not seeming godlike enough.

Imo they should change the prophecy for the show to not come true until Percy is 18 or 21. Gives much more leeway with the actors to age and take your time with future seasons, you can also make season 4 and 5 feel much more mature kinda like the later Harry Potter films.

One little objection: It was already established in season 1 that, in contrast to the books, Thalia was killed by the Furies, not by Cyclopses. I guess the showrunners want to remove Annabeth' innitial repelling reaction to Tyson because it would possibly offend viewers with learning differences. I've always foubd it quite awkward myself to read how Tyson was treated at first. 😕

Thalia was never killed by Cyclopes. That was just in the movies. Annabeth hates Cyclopes because one traumatized her by impersonating her father to lure her in a trap. In the book, multiple monsters including the furies killed Thalia.
