I know you don’t have to do it But can you please do a video on what if they made a third Percy Jackson movie? I saw the second Airbender movie you made and it was funny. For example, Zoë could be blonde and has light skin, compared to darker hair and olive skin in the books. And there can also be a monster from the fourth book into the third movie, like Kampe or a sphinx.

Im enjoying it but the dialogue is generic if rick make a chinese pantheon series i might be interested for me i would like it if sun wu kong is the main protagonist but he is reincarnated in the modern day and didnt complete journey to west he died on purpose but in order to be reborn he has to enter the body of women thats compatible and has a lot of spirit energy so he manage to enter the body of this k pop or j pop idol why j pop or k pop is because for comedic porpuses even though he is in their Chinese pantheon he isnt even chinese not that hes chinese to begin with he was a monkey he enters this idols body and becomes her child this idol is a young girl who is only 20 years old she has never been in a relationship but is now pregnant with sun even though sun just wanted to use her to be reborn she still chooses to keep him and love him even though she has no idea whats going on flash forward 13 years later sun is a teenager abd yes his name is still sun wukong and he has all his memeories from his previous life but he is still weak because he is now a human and people think he is weird for saying he is the great sage equal to heaven but always get his ass handed to him by bullys. His personality is that he is arragont and mischievous but he kind because of how he was raised,at this point of the story the only person that he care about is his mom and one of the drama would be what would happen if he told her what he did to her, would she still love him.one day his mom went missing when he went home from school and a demon attack him but he was safe by his one friend who was (the son of a demon or god or something,i dont know what)he is a quiet kid who didnt stand out but because sun accidentally save him from being bullied and they now they bully sun instead if him even though sun was arrogant and mischievous he never blame him and said "those weaklings could never beat me im the monkey king"even though they beat him up almost everyday he befriended him even though he think hes weird, sun didn't know who he was but he found out now.he guided sun to this school in the spirit realm for people like him because many demons and god children and other beings here as well.flash forward again after getting to know the school and meet some wacky characters sun duel with one of the strongest character in school and after getting beat up and almost losehe finally awaken his powers and gets his staff and fights the guy he was overpowering him for awhile but still lose because he ran out of magic or something and was knocked out.sun later found out because he is human now he has to train hard to become strong mentally and physically so through out the story he will go through a lot of hardships and grow both in strength and character and this first book is about saving his mother same as percy and something that has to do with Chinese mythology that threatens the world if you have a better idea tell me i would love to hear it.he also has a love interest this serious no nonsense girl who is pretty zen but gets angry at sun for always annoying her her only friend is the guy that beat sun and he likes her she is the daughter of the jed emperor throughout the series she becomes more friendly and playful even though sun and her has a fremies relationship at first and in ine the book's she admits to sun that she likes him and that causes a funny situation where this girl even though serious would try to flirt with him and sun wouldn't know how to react to her advances.what do you think and if some people are feeling weird about sun basically an adult in a kids body dont think about it too much remember the movie big

Sally’s “not everyone who looks like a monster is really a monster,” is pretty decent foreshadowing for this show’s iteration of Grover, in my opinion. It’s revealed that Grover snitched to get Percy away from school and to safety, and he’s not the monster of a friend that Percy thinks he is. Even his bodily reveal to Percy - goat legs, horns, not exactly friendly - fits this, as he’s not a monster, but a satyr.

The scene with Percy making an offering to his mother and vowing to make "His father see them" was pretty dark. You can see that they will intensify the parallels between him and Luke, and how Percy could have gone down the same path if things were different.

I absolutely love that scene. Since we didn't spend as much time with Sally before she got taken compared to the books I was kind of worried that the amount of love Percy holds for her is gonna fall flat a little bit. But they made sure to let you know that Percy would burn the world down to get her back just from the writing and Walker's performance. Super intense, I love it.

I think Percy's obsession with his father in the second episode is due to creating a story arch for the second episode where the pay-off is his claim in the end. It didn't bother me too much, and I would understand that you would obsess about your father after you have seen your mother (alledgedly) die in front of your eyes, being thrown into this new world, and then you would learn there is a distant father figure who doesn't give shit about your appearance? I personally felt they should have crafted this a little better, but the general idea feels right to me, even though it's not in the book.

@arianaking3009

I think Percy focusing on his dad when he gets to camp is to show non-book readers just how awful the gods are as parents. Like: "Here's a 12 year old child who's just lost his mother tragically... and his father is nowhere to be seen'. It also adds to his relationship with Sally because we're coming off of the first episode where it's clear she still has love for Posideon and I think Percy picks up on that and its sort of pissed that this guy his mother consistently visits the same cabin for doesn't show up when Percy thinks she's dead

Absolutely. His grief is shown so accurately imo. He wants to find his dad to make him be held accountable for what happened in his absence, but is also furious at him for not being there in the first place and making his mother sad. That's the whole reason he makes the gods claim all their children from now on at the end of the series.

By the time, Capture the Flag was filmed, Walker had become very skilled to such an extent that he had to remember how to he bad at this. I actually like the way they made Percy go look for his father because in the first book, Percy only realized that the gods use demigods as tools (after Ares asked them for a favor) and he only acknowledged how awful the gods were to their kids after hearing Luke's, and later on, Ethan's point of view. So I love the fact that they are highlighting this from the start (as it will play a huge role in the " almost downfall" of Olympus). Plus Percy's reaction was more realistic (in the book I felt like before he was claimed, he just accept the fact that his dad doesn't give a sh about him and might never claim him). Your mom, the only family you've ever known just "died" and all you know is that it was related to your dad (and he didn't even care enough to show up), of course you would look for him for an answer

I think I was most surprised with Annabeth; I personally really liked the detail of her kind of "stalking" Percy and following him around to see what he's about, having her thoughtfully hide in the shadows and really think about how he'll be an asset, so when we see her in the bathroom scene, it's clear she's strategizing, and you can see the gears turning in her head as she looks Percy over, which is so true to Annabeth's character; I loved that change.

YES! I’ve been rereading by the Battle of the Labirynth now and I am getting annoyed by now at how little her intelligence is explored in the books. It is literally her most important power and when you think about how powerfull Percy is (controlling water, ocean, speaking to horses etc) i really feel like there are many times in the series by now that it could have been her to come up with the plans. In the fourth book Percy persuades monsters and realises things and comes up with the plans most of the time and it is literally her mission. And that’s weird, because i actually had the image of Percy being slow to get things and her being smart. So yes, i really aprecciate if they make this kind of changes to show how smart and strategic she is

@@lauragama4025 Well I think Battle of the Labyrinth was the beginning of Percy starting to understand things more; the third book was really the beginning of him realizing how much he needs Annabeth by his side and how things aren't the same without her, and when you get to book 4, he begins to have more confidence and I think Rick wanted them to slowly become each other's equal and not have one overpower the other especially by the time they become a couple, because when you see them in The Heroes of Olympus, at that point, they're perfectly in sync with each other, especially House of Hades where they really needed to rely on one another because they were all each other had.

My take on the fade-to-black transitions was they structured it for possible commercial breaks, either for broadcast or ad-supported streaming. Remember, Disney+ has lost billions. The showrunners built the breaks in rather than have some executive make those choices. As for the council having such little screen time, either they discussed something that will only be revealed in a future episode OR there was a concern about the episode's length for the initial release and it will show up in an extended addition (or a bonus material short)

Also, in the TV show, it’s made pretty clear to everyone that Percy is only going to go on the quest to save his mother. But in the books, he was more secretive about it like “im going on the quest but no one else knows that im only going because of my mom” and the only person who could guess that was Grover, since he knows how to read emotions. I do agree with the fact that it’s going a little too fast. I know there are time constraints and all, but I loved the buildup to every single big event. After Percy kills Dodds, for example, there’s a whole monologue from Percy over the next few weeks about how he was getting constant nightmares, wasn’t getting sleep, calls his teacher names, starts getting worse grades, along with the weather changing even though it was summer, which all buildups to the main Minotaur killing, with each step of the way building more and more tension. In the show, it keeps cutting to the next thing which made it seem fast paced Although I do think they’re going to elaborate more on the characters and explain more about the plot later on (like annabeth asking percy on the quest ‘why do you have blue food?’)

For the beads thing… It was never mentioned in the books how many beads a lot of the campers had, and it makes sense that everyone would have somewhere between like 1-5 of them. Some of the more experienced and older characters (like Clarisse) actually do seem like they would have been at camp for a while, so more beads for them isn’t that surprising. The reason why Annabeth having so many beads is so special is mostly because she’s 12, where most of the campers with more beads *arrived* at camp around that age and are just older now. Annabeth was an anomaly because she came to camp at 7, not that she’s been there a few years.

My favorite detail is part of Annabeth figuring out who Percy’s dad is. She initially thinks it’s Zeus like in the books because she positions him on a hilltop where Zeus things could happen, but when that doesn’t work, that only leaves Poseidon (ignoring Hades for obvious reasons) so she pushes him in the water to make sure.

To be fair, this is an issue in all of the PJO adaptations. Percy learns his mom is dead, has some kind of shock and sadness go over him, and then explores camp with his comedic monologue. It’s present in the musical, the books, the movies, and in the graphic novels.

@@sloganreadet1151 , well, the thing is, a book is one thing, real life actor is another. You can read a book "Noo" very loud in your head, but when a "Nooo" is this soft in real life, it feels wrong. How he acted after doesn't bother me that much. In the books it was clear that Percy didn't accept that his mom'd "death". He was full in denial. The way he was not able to focus on her death is how ADHD mind works. But right at the moment, when he saw her ... um ... dissolve into gold dust, his reaction was not a shocked half muffled no, not a panic scream of disbelief, not a "WTF", it felt more like a "huh?" no. Actually i liked that grover outed him, it shows how cowerdly he is in the start which will highlight his character arch. I was super diasapointed at the cloven elders scene as well because we get to learn alot about grover there that i think the actor would have aced. He is an amazing choice for grover, I beleive he meets that standard. Him revealing Percy's mother makes sense because he is trying to get back on Percy's good side, and if you don't see him as that brave yet remember he needs Percy to accept this quest to redeem himself from the Thalia situation. Maybe dont judge what did or didn't put in the first two episodes until the rest comes out, they might explain a little more, Im hoping to see flashbacks to the cloven elders in later episodes (along with a Helena explanation). It seems like they are building up to reveal more about grover with the cut off and new character, I think Aryan did an amazing job so far.

The Grover thing didn't feel weird to me at all. The first one, when he betrayed Percy, he felt like he needed to do that to successfully complete his mission, to take Percy to the camp alive, and he was ready to do anything because of his prior experience with Thalia, Luke and Annabeth. The second one, regarding telling Percy that his mother was still alive, he was either desperate to go out on a quest (like Annabeth) or he was ordered by the council of cloven elders, and either way it is connected to the search for Pan.

Personally, I did not care for Gorver in the books as much as everyone else did and I'm really happy with show Grover (because of the difference, maybe). His character makes sense when you realize that the book covered a lot of time where he had to lie to Percy to keep him safe. They just switched one bad-friend-character-trait with another one to speed up the story. Also, I hope they fit in a scene with the Cloven Council by the finale because the set looked awesome. I think when he "talks" to Sally with the blue jellybean explains his obsession with finding Poseidon. From his perspective, his mother died and he blames his father for it, he wants him to answer for her death. Which also supplments how deep they made their relationship in the show compared to the book. The way Leah Jeffries just holds herself, and the look in her eyes, shows that she's the kind of person who's constantly thinking. It made complete sense that she figured out Percy's parentage. I cared more about Annabeth's grey eyes than her blonde hair but I love everything about Leah. I feel Gabe's behavious was much milder than in the books and I just figured they wanted to make it more kid-friendly, that could also explain the car accident being cut out. I bet Olivia's going to be on the HP reboot as well. Hit the trinity.

For Me... Pros: Walker is AMAZING as Percy. His line delivery is fantastic and he genuinely made me laugh out loud a few times. He has that Percy sarcasm down perfectly. The relationship with him and his mother is great and I actually felt something when she died. I like that she went out of her way to protect him from the minotaur. I know my Mom would do the same thing for me in a moment like that. I think the look of the world and especially Camp Half Blood is fantastic, it looks exactly like how I pictured it while reading. And for the most part the stunts and VFX all look great for a series. Cons: The pacing is really off. I felt like episode 1 rushed through SO much important establishing moments. The story was moving a mile a minute and I feel like non book readers are gonna get whiplash. The encounter with Dodds was like 30 seconds long, she wasn't established at all prior to that scene, and neither was Mr. Brunner. He gives Percy the pen in such a random way and the action really lacked intensity for me. Gabe isn't nearly enough of an asshole and having Sally stand up to him immediately removes so much development for her going forward. I don't see him abusing her whatsoever. He was mildly annoying but nothing at all like the book. I kinda wish Percy freaked out a little more at all the crazy shit happening around him and how insane this new life is. The capture the flag scene doesn't show Percy getting strength from the water, it just heals him. He's supposed to be a terrible fighter until he gets wet. I wish the Big Three were fleshed out more and why Percy being alive is such a big deal. Also there was a lack of Annabeth. She's supposed to spend more time with Percy prior to capture the flag and for what we got so far, it just didn't impress me. They made her so stoic and boring.

I 100% agree with all of this. I especially want to see more episodes to decide how I feel about Annabeth. More than anything I want her character's essence to be preserved and well adapted. That being said, I felt like the line delivery was stiff and unnatural. I remember Annabeth being well-spoken and, despite trying to hide it, excited that percy was there and incredibly hopeful. The "you drool when you sleep" scene was a bit of a jump scare. I can't exactly describe what felt wrong, I think it needed to sound more inquisitive and grossed out mixed with Annabeth's natural bluntness. I also think at this point, although Annabeth is calculative, she had a lot of faith in the gods and their plans (something that fades with time). Because of this, I found her manufacturing Percy's claim to be forced and unnatural for her character at this point in the series. I feel similarly about Grover in places as well, though I am more curious to see what they do with him. As much as I love him, I don't have an especially vivid interpretation of his character from the books so for me he is more malleable than Annabeth. 🤷‍♀️ Walker just needs more opportunity for signature Percy sass, which we know is coming. Walker hasn't done a lot of dramatic work and has seemed to stay more on the side of comedy (for obvious reasons) though he is a talented actor. These were just my initial interpretations 🤷‍♀️. Mostly I think with more episodes, we will hopefully be able to see the whole cast settle into the story and become natural fixtures within it.

Around 99% of the time, we have the same opinions but this time we are so different Morgan! 😂 I love Aryan and what they are doing with Grover’s character. Throughout the whole show he makes me laugh, his comedic timing and line deliver is awesome. Walker I feel is missing the sassy and wittiness of Percy but for the serious scenes, he does a good job and I can see why they casted him. As for Leah, she’s the one for me that is falling short. When Rick said she was the best Annabeth I expected her acting skills to be amazing but every time she is onscreen she shows almost no emotion. If she’s angry, frustrated, scared, annoyed, there’s nothing there. I don’t think she’s a bad actress and she’s also very young but when you put her next to Walker and Aryan, her acting skills stands out a lot. But I love her chemistry with Walker. Leah has a softness in her that Annabeth also has especially for Percy, I’m guessing that’s how she landed the role. But I do agree with the fade outs, hate them.

The show started well. I especially loved the graphics. I totally agree with you on a lot of things. Mr D should not care if anyone goes on a quest. He doesn't even want to be the director. He leaves everything to Chiron. He shouldn't care if Grover talks to Percy about his mom. In the fight against Clarrise, there's no way Percy should be that good without training, besting 3 Ares kids. They are children of the God of war and have had training/more time in camp. And he didn't even touch the water before we see the change in how good he is. So there isn't going to be a journey of how Percy's swordplay gets better and better, cause he was born with it. Now if you show/tell me an Ares kid was born knowing how to fight, not with a weapon though, I would believe you. That's the one quality they should have. Percy's natural ability should have been his strength in water/healing. I did love the part where Annabeth pushed him into the water though. It showed how smart she was. Like she already knew, even before Chiron or anyone else. I wish this series followed the movie adaptation and used a click pen instead of a cap pen.

To answer a few of your questions: The cuts to black are for ads. Disney+ comes with 2 subscription options: cheaper w ads, or more expensive w/o ads, and so the fade to black was for playing ads for those who didn’t pay for premium. Fade to white I saw it as the mist overwriting memories. While I agree that Mr. D is a little different, in the books he does care to an extent. After all his kids are at camp, and he’s helped Percy multiple times in TTC and TLO. Also I’m pretty sure Annabeth pushed him into the water because she suspected he was a son of Poseidon after the bathroom incident, at least that’s how I saw it. She would subtly stand up to Gabe like always getting blue candy to prove him wrong and in the book he's emotionally and physically abusive so it makes sense she wouldn't be outright argumentative with him. Plus, the fact that she thought taking his abuse was worth it to protect Percy from monsters (which I am glad that was quickly resolved in the books so we didn't have to read multiple books of his mom being abused) shows the type of mother she is. I admit, there were things that bothered me about Grover's depiction too, but I think it is unfair that you phrased it as if the actor is to blame rather than the way the script was written. I also kind of get why they made the choices they made with him, even if I don't like them. Since they decided to speed up Percy getting expelled to happening immediately after the fight rather than at the end of the year, they couldn't include the actually reason Percy was mad at Grover - overhearing that he and Chiron knew Mrs. Dodds was real and were gaslighting him for the rest of the year. So they had Grover be the reason Percy was explained in order to create another siutation in which Grover was forced to betray Percy's trust. In this context, I think the "don't tell Percy about his mother plot" you disliked makes sense. I think it was likely created to give Grover a chance of redemption of some sorts? He was once again told he shouldn't tell Percy the truth about something but this time he decided his friendship with Percy should come first and decided to do it. Honestly, while I get that they wanted to speed it up in the tv show, they should've done a better job at making up for all the lost Grover moments from that part of the book. And while I kind of liked the I'm 24 line, they definetely should've explained that satyrs age half as fast as humans do. I do think that there were many subtle good things with Grover though - for example, Sally asking him to protect Percy. It's clear that he is thinking of how he failed to protect Thalia. I think the way he is written, those who have read the book can read his intentions correctly while those who didn't can misunderstand him completely. Since the show's general vibe is leave the general feel and events of the episode but tell the story in a slightly different way I still have hope that their portrayal of Grover will be better in the future episodes. Especially since the show in general is enjoyable so far.

the grover actor was amazing! smh 🤦‍♂️ i think it was just the director’s and writers direction and not the actors. i didn’t feel like he was acting and he was very natural, which is rare with many child actors.

About Sally and Gabe - i think in this series, Gabe isn't actually that bad? Annoying, sure. But he isn't abusive or anything like that and based on the scenes we got it's Sally who clearly has the pants on in the house. So i'm wondering whether they are still going to make Sally use Medusa to turn him into a statue and sell?? just based on this scene I would feel like thats a RLY overblown decision, just killing a guy for being annoying and lazy etc. I dunno, maybe they will show more of him later, but just based on ep 1 and 2 I think killing him would be sorta ... wrong? ALSO HATED THAT GROVER WAS A SNITCH I WAS SO MAD HCEUFUEFH

I feel bad i didn't notice rick my first watch so yeah I'm definitely going to be paying close attention to that lol As for grover i think most of the issues I've noticed and you noticed stem from him being told to keep his mouth shut and him knowing he shouldn't and him putting his mission above his friendship... Which i think stems from what happened with Thalia... Idk i think we're going to see him being more honest with percy as the episodes drop. Could even have a redemption when facing off with hades or ares

Of all the reviews I have seen of Percy Jackson series, this was the best by far. I loved your review and how you actually touched the problems than questioning the story. Some KZbinrs literally tried to make fun of the book and then said that this series was the worst. I am happy as a fellow reader that this review sticks with the story.

Guys....Grover betraying Percy is SUPPOSED to hurt. It gets him right in his fatal flaw. Right before Annabeth pushes him inside the lake he was almost CRYING because he realized she was watching him taking a beating from the Ares kids and didn't help him. This is all building to show us that further betrayals are going to break his little heart that is already sick of being lied to, misled and mistreated by a lot of people since forever.

The pacing of the first two episode seemed WAY OFF to me. For reference (If we are going by the episode names) here are the amount of chapters per episode: Episode 1: Chapters 1-5 (5 chapters) Episode 2: Chapters 6-10 (5 chapters) Episode 3: Chapters 11-12 (2 Chapters) Episode 4: Chapters 13-14 (2 Chapters) Episode 5: Chapter 15 (1 Chapter) Episode 6: Chapters 16-18 (2 Chapters) Episode 7: Chapters 19-21 (2 Chapters) Episode 8: Chapter 22 (1 Chapter) The fact they went through 45% of the book in the first 2 episodes was mind-blowing to me. It felt super rushed in some areas and then a drag in others. The flow really took me out of it. Heres to hoping that the rest of the show corrects this by focusing on less chapters.

I was also very sad about the fates not cutting the string. and your little hint on it not being Percy gave me chills. first finding out who it was meant to be and how the prophecy came to, it still gives me chills as an adult. idk if they'll actually manage to do it. but god I would love to see all 5 seasons come to fruition. SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT READ THE BOOKS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I really do hope they include Grover almost getting dragged into Tartarus when exploring through the underworld. Its a key point in the quest not only because we find out who's been talking to Percy in his dreams. but its also the biggest clue to which demigod betrayed them. iykyk haha

I liked some of Grover’s changes and totally agree that not showing the meeting was a lost opportunity but I actually think the acting for Luke’s character is a little bit stiff, not that cool, everyone-likes-him kind of vibes that jumps from the pages of the book and you cannot tell that Annabeth and Luke have a deep bond as easily as for Percy (or the audience) to take note. I’d have like to see Percy spend more days in the camp before going to his quest. They HAVE to include the oracle!!! It’s such an important part for Luke and future books! They also didn’t explain ambrosia yet. So excited for the next episodes!!!

I hated how they portrayed Gabe in the show because they made him seem like just a bad annoying guy when in the book he was genuinely abusive so the show just took that element away from the plot. I also don't like that they made Sally stand up to him because in the books she dealt with him to cover Percy's scent from the monsters and it showed how strong she really was to deal with him for that long.

Honestly, I like the change with Gorver snitching on Percy. It shows that Grover is willing to hurt his relationship with Percy for his best friend's well-being. If this is a personality trait that sticks around until the Titans Curse and Battle of the Labyrinth could be a lot more interesting.

i feel like you are looking at grover’s character in the books through rose colored glasses and you should reread it again. i thought grover is almost exactly like his character in the books, and the child actor is doing a great job portraying many different emotions on his face alone. also, the scene where grover shouts “also i’m 24” makes sense because grover tends to ramble when he’s nervous.

Thank you so much, you completely earned my subscription! I plan to read the books, but I almost wanna wait until the show is over because I think this would be more fun not to know what’s coming! When I was watching the blackness between scenes, I actually took that is maybe Disney+ and starting perfect commercial spots for the people on the ad tier plan, but maybe I was overthinking it maybe it is about the chapters simulating like you said.

Okay so in defence of the show I guess not everything can be adapted to screen. the thing about the thing about the blue candy, having either of the characters explain it's significance would just feel awkward, unless we had Percy actively narrating on some scenes which again, would still be awkward in the long run. The mischievous smiles they shared was enough for me. The only thing i feel was downplayed too much was Gabe. I wish i could've seen some physical reaction from the building manager or Percy himself to his foul smell. And also, him lowering his voice and going with what Sally says, to me he didn't seem bad enough to warrant being turned into stone so if they still go ahead with it, I'll be having some serious questions. All he's guilty of so far is being addicted to gambling, I'm not even sure he was drunk in the scene

I didn't think it was Grover's actor who was the problem, I think it was just the writing of his character. Also the only thing that I didn't really like was how they never explicitly talk about Percy's ADHD. I think it's too important to not discuss directly. It's just sort of implied in the show.

My worry is that in the reviews I have read, people who read the books and know them well like the shows, but those who did not read the books and may not be familiar with the "Percy-verse" have neutral to negative (mostly negative) reviews. This may mean that it will be up to fans of the books to keep the series going.

Idk I thought they did Grover pretty well, actually most of the bad stuff you pointed out just kinda seemed like nitpicking and didn’t hurt the show at all really, some changes even feel like corrections by Rick, like Grover being 24, in the book he’s 28 but if he ages half as fast as mortals, then 24 would fit better with Percy cause then they’d both be 12. The show only two things that I thought was maybe a little disappointing was the fight with Ms. Dodds and that maybe the pacing was a little fast, these episodes felt like they definitely could have been 10 minutes longer each. Maybe because of how Disney has been lately you assumed we would have a lot more of a problem with these changes than we did. But i got to admit they did a damn good job with this so far. very eager for next week

I didn't like that Grover actually TOLD Percy to go to the underworld and save his mom. I loved that in books Percy was the one to come up with this idea himself and he hid it from everyone else. It was a nudge to his character (would never give up hope to save someone he loves) and at the same time showed that he wasn't blindingly trusting Camp Half-blood just yet, because he was still new. It takes a lot away from the character to have other people actually tell him what to do, I think. Also I agree with you that so far Grover is a bit of a weak link acting-wise. I hope it gets better in the rest of the series!
