BIG episode!

The deaths in the show really lost their impact for me when I learned they die all the time in the game and just cut those moments from the show, likely to be more dramatic.

Half right. The DM has his home brew revival rules that makes it so that if a dice roll does not meet the threshold then they're gone for good. That and player/story reasons where a character stays dead.

I can understand your frustration. It’s kind of the downside of adapting something that was originally a game just unfortunately is what it is.

@@storysmith5626 Yeah, I have other issues with the show too. It's okay.

Edit: SPOILERS Someone else responded but I want to give more details. Essentially how it works in D&D is you go to 0 hit points you're knocked out. If you then fail 3 Death Saves, you die. In normal D&D, if you use a resurrection spell you can just bring them back at the cost of a diamond. But in this D&D game, the DM has homebrew ruling for a full ritual. For a 20 sided die, the DC starts at 10 and then is -3 for each part of the 3 part ritual that succeeds. However, each time you're brought back the initial DC increases by 1. Additionally, there's a spell known as Revivify that can bring someone back within the next minute. However, it uses a Wisdom Check against this save. If the Revivify fails, then you still get a shot at the Ritual. So if you've died 3 times before and only one part of the ritual succeeds, you have an initial DC of 13 - 3 for a total of 10. Nothing is added, so it's about a 50/50 shot of being brought back to life. Otherwise you're gone forever. For instance, Pike was brought back once. If you remember in Grog's backstory, the Pike healing him had black hair but it's never explained. Though it was Pre-Stream, in the game she was killed and brought back to life, and when brought back her hair turned white. I think by the end of this season, overall there have been a total of 8 deaths in the campaign by this point. However, 6 of them were brought back through Revivify. So in game time, during a battle sequence they technically do die... but are brought back so quickly it's probably not even worth mentioning in the show. Interestingly enough, the two where the revivify failed were Percy... and surprisingly Scanlan. However, a lot was changed. For instance in the campaign, Anna is killed by the group shortly after she killed Percy (she never escaped). He was then brought back to Whitestone, and despite succeeding the character still has the choice to refuse coming back and was seriously considering it. However, Vex's part of the ritual convinced him to come back. In Scanlan's case, he was killed in the fight with Raishan. I do want to point out though, that death can be very real. If anything when watching the show... you should be even more scared for deaths. Because if it comes up, it's not just "Death of the week". It can be extremely significant, and in some cases... well, I won't say anything on that end.

@SharkyShocker I heard a character was killed too early in the show. I'm guessing Scanlan getting knocked out was in place of his death?

@@lordhyperion4619 Eh, they're kind of right. Let's say you were subscribed for a specific show and one you wanted to watch had all the spoilers. I actually had to unsub to one of the channels due to all the spoilers in the titles and thumbnail. I went back and watched the show. Then I subscribed again.

@@sirmel11 I mean it’s still subjective to say “hey I haven’t watched this series yet but I enjoy the content on this channel so I’m gonna continue watching the new videos that come out but I haven’t watched the material being reacted to itself…..?!” I mean the whole point of KOL’s reactions are HIS reactions to the show not watching the show itself together with us the audience for the first time

@@lordhyperion4619 I started watching ahead once I saw he was putting spoilers in the title. I think that the other person should do that too if they have the time. KZbinrs don't have to do what their viewers want but some people don't put spoilers in their titles and thumbnails.
