Why is it colder in the morning than at night 😅
@andresmartinezramos75139 күн бұрын
@@jsbrads1Just for those who don't actually know. It's because it is the moment of day when most time has passed since the house was heated by the sun, the people and the heaters in the house. So most of the heat gets radiated over the night leading to the lowest temperature of the day. The same thing applies to the street, just before sunrise is the coldest it will get.

I'm still slowly figuring out how to scale up the other legendary items now that I have a basic LDS shuffle going. Looks like I'll need to get legendary bots automated to avoid seeing the sad state of bots flying 5 meters and running out of juice. Good to know that using trains to the resources further out was a thing. I disconnected my super long heat pipe after realizing it was just bringing the rest of my base's temperature down.

For your stream, I don't understand why you're not making legendary red&green (maybe blue) science on vulcanus, which are basically free. As you scale up, a limiting factor is the throughput to the labs. With legendary science, you only need 1/6 the throughput for legendary science as normal, so this helps you get more science down from orbit to your labs quickly.
@emanwe019 күн бұрын
In one of his earlier videos in this series, I remember him going over the math as to why he doesn't think legendary science is worth the trouble, though I don't remember his particular reasons.
@JasonAWilliams-IS9 күн бұрын
@emanwe01 yes getting legendary materials is not worth the upcycling costs, but he already has infinite legendary iron and copper so it makes sense for red and green science. And maybe blue too.
@nahblue9 күн бұрын
Legendary Red & Green need legendary copper & iron; legendary copper is free, sure, legendary iron is abundant -- but not infinite right? -- from asteroids or available from upcycling late-game blue circuits.
@JasonAWilliams-IS9 күн бұрын
@nahblue legendary iron is equally abundant as legendary copper. You just need legendary calcite.
@88porpoise9 күн бұрын
@@JasonAWilliams-IS Probably because at the scale he is operating on it isn't relevant. As I recall his pre-space science builds are producing 60 per second. That isn't even half of one side of a belt. Getting that down to 10 per second legendary science isn't going to provide much advantage. Beyond that, the throughput to your labs itself isn't really much of an issue until you get to the point that bots are lagging the game. Finally, for a Nilaus specific reason: having a non-legendary build available in his blueprint book makes sense as people may do things in different orders and not have the legendary resources to go directly to legendary science. As a result, viewers that pay him for access to his blueprints may find it useful.

why do you use storage chests with filter over provider chests? is there a meaningful difference or just personal preferance
@yourimpossibletoisgn10 күн бұрын
Probably so when he deletes things they get put in the right spot later on
@cthulhu897710 күн бұрын
I never use normal provider chests. Active provider to get rid of things or normal yellow storage with filter. Like @yourimpossibletoisgn said; the bots will bring any extras from disassembly etc. to that chest. Can also wire them up with inserters to prevent box from getting full. That leaves room for bot deliveries. I use that for robo-malls and also random supply from a bus. Bus keeps box half full of ?plates to handle requests; leaves room for bots to return leftovers from my inventory etc.

Legendary science is so cursed to me, is it all a flex? Just build more biolabs! Right? Is there something i'm not understanding?
@S4kar979 күн бұрын
It's also about the logistics behind it. Less spaceships, less rocket silos, probably less assemblying machines, in that case less holmium to ship... And at some far far away point the throughput of the cargo landing pad will be a problem.
@larsruberti33159 күн бұрын
@S4kar97 i see, thanks for your reply. But there is no limit on the amount of bots that can take items out of the cargo pad. And how does it take less holmium?
@88porpoise7 күн бұрын
@@larsruberti3315"less holmium shipped" You upcycle it on Fulgora and can ship 1/6 of the amount to Aquilo for legendary lithium production for the same science output. In the end, outside of Gleba, the reasons I can see for it are: 1) Reduced scale of bases just to be more manageable (similar to the reason why to use all the speed modules in beacons rather than just building more production facilities). Both the production and the mass of biolabs. 2) Once you get to a scale that your computer starts lagging it should help. Personally I build my Space Science and Cryogenic Science as legendary. Cryogenic is because I needed a sink for legendary lithium. My Quantum Processor upcycled was supplying most of my legendary superconductors but I wasn't using nearly as much legendary Lithium and my storage was filling up. So, instead of trashing it I got some legendary ice and made science. Space Science was because I needed to upgrade space science production and, having set up legendary ice for cryogenic science, I thought it could be more interesting to do it as legendary rather than normal. For Gleba, quality science is more interesting as the longer spoilage time is more significant.
