Huge thanks to you, for covering this wonderful Cover! This is my take on what the opening of the video represents. Angelina knocks the dust off the best music of the past, literally by walking into a antique store, pulling the sheets off the furniture, mirror, and literally Music itself in the form of the piano (you can see the dust in the air as the piano kicks off). She then infuses the music of the past with her passion and youth giving the music a new life as she shares the music with an entirely new generation. Further embellished with the addition of her 2 young cousins and her sister Juliette. Whom very much do reminds us of Angelina throughout the years...

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂

The young girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. The eldest girl is her 10 year old sister Juliette (who has made cameo appearances in Million Miles and Valerie). As for the changing age of the girls, I believe it was meant to tell the story of Angelina's love for the one she's singing to. This individual's lack of trust causes Angelina to lose this all-accepting love, like the love a child has. In the end, an adult Angelina is saying that she can't go on anymore with the distrust. She wants to reclaim the love she had once felt.

Molly be blessed, love your reaction. I have watched this performance many times doing various reactors post . One of them mentioned all the plethora of symbolisms Angelina and her Grandmother Merry had in this video. They are both extremely artistically creative. I had only noticed up until then only the trappings that reflected the tribute to Elvis and his '68 come back tour. However after that comment I began to see things in the lyrics that, whether on purpose or just providence, that were quite astounding. The four scenes of the little girls all wearing the white dresses, some say are a metaphor of Angelina's rise to stardom and the fulfillment of her life time dreams as a very small child, of which she has fulfilled 99% them quite quickly in her short time here and I quite agree with that observation. But I began to notice something in the words of the song as each scene of the little girls in white dresses girls were shown, which was seemingly planned by some one for sure. The first one, a very small baby sitting in a big chair if which she no doubt could not get out on her own and she was grabbing something with her left hand that looked like some kind of restraint to hold her down from falling out . The lyrics sung for this scene was, " Caught in a trap" The next one shows a little older girl whom evidently who just learned to walk and was kind of unsure of her steps walking and the lyrics sung " I cant walk out ". Then the next one shows the little girl spinning around and kind of looking around and the lyrics " Why can't you see what you are doing to me" . Then the scene changes to show a little older girl going around with her head up and looking around, you can see her hair is not as curly as the previous little girl who spinning around before. ( P.S. this third girl turning around and looking up may have well been her little sister whom was sitting in the chair at the end of these scenes). Then there is an much older little girl (her sister) in a white dress again sitting in a chair as the baby was in then first scene , she was looking down and raised her head as the lyrics said, "when you don't believe a word I say" and then she raises her head with a smile as if to say with a look I don't believe what you say. Angelina and her Grandmother are Rembrandt's of video and and Angelina of vocal artistry .

What an incredibly amazing cover!!! Her grandmother Mery Zamani, who produced this cover, also made a music video of Angelina's original, "Shield", several years ago, around the time of AGT Champions (because Angelina is wearing her "Bohemian Rhapsody" outfit later in the video). In that video, Angelina starts out in a white dress just like the ones in so many of her early-days performances. At one point in the video she passes thru a tunnel under the railroad track and emerges in her AGT outfit. Similarly in the Elvis cover, the younger "Angelinas" start out in white dresses and the video then cuts to Angelina today in the Elvis outfit. My opinion is that both videos are saying that Angelina is all grown up now and ready to take on the world. The pureness of the color white is replaced in both cases - in "Shield" by the multi-colored outfit, and in "Suspicious Minds" by the Elvis black leather outfit. As much as we would like to keep our own children young and innocent forever, we all know that is not possible, and Mery and Angelina are saying to let the past go and let her proceed into her adulthood.

I think of the antique store as a place where every object has a past and a story to tell - a place of nostalgia, crowded with the memory of past owners and their lives. There are objects specific to Elvis of course: Priscilla's "beehive", Elvis' red guitar and black leather outfit - both of which are what he actually played/wore on his 1968 TV special (on loan here from the Elvis Museum in Memphis). What there isn't is an object from Angelina's past. Instead we have the three little girls in white, and no one who follows Angelina doubts that they are references to her own past. There's even a family resemblance, the older child being Angelina's sister Stephanie; the younger two being her uncle Mike's children. Once again Angelina gives us more than world class singing. She gives us art: visual and conceptual as well as musical, and full of the rich emotional content she delivers so effortlessly.

Elisabeth There were no blue suede shoes. That's just a trick of the lighting when she's reclining on the sofa. Elvis' blue suede shoes were brogues with laces. They were not ankle boots with a high heel like the silver ones Angelina is wearing. If you look at about :21 in the original video (full screen), you'll catch a brief glimpse of them just before she pulls the sheet from the piano.

She put in a lot of Elvis references, really amazing the respect & homage she paid to Elvis. Angie really blew this one away. I love what she did with this story. This was filmed in the same place that she did “My funny valentine” at Melrose Gallery and Antiques in West Hollywood CA. There's a picture of (age about 1-2) baby Lisa Marie Presley on a golden couch like Angie's cousin sat on with a white dress. There was one of Lisa also (when she’s about 3) with white dress & she had curls like Angie’s other cousin Athena had (from her uncle Michael's kids). Plus it acted as a double for us watching Angie growing up. Her sister Juilette was the older one in the white dress like Angie was in when she was 10-12 before she changed at 13 & her, her mom Sara & grandma Mery made clothes for her performances. The black jumpsuit & red guitar is for the welcome back tour in 1968. The hair was for Priscilla his wife. Chandeliers, mirrors & furniture was for Graceland,the Piano player Rob Christie wearing red like Elvis band members & you'll even see that Angie's (Elvis stance) put her leg out & bent like Elvis did. Angelina did a lot of homework & paid a lot of respect & gave us a lot of Easter eggs & there’s still more. As she usually does on her videos. I'll add to the shoe story. She was 6, in Iran, it was cold, she met a little girl who was a street vendor and talked to her, probably in Farsi (Iranian). She ended up giving her her beloved green boots. She then went back to Norway and wrote in her diary (yes, this 6 year old had a diary) that when she did this a door opened in her heart and she climbed a stairway to heaven. "It is such great thing to help another person." After that she vowed to perform barefoot to remind us that there are children in need. She has since raised millions for kids' charities. She then wrote a book about this, illustrated by her grandmother, and became the youngest published author in Norway. Just your average 6 year old--genius.

A little or info I've heard the this video was produced by her grand mother and all the little girls are her grand daughters the oldest being her 11year old little sister,, grandma also illustrated Angelina's book that she wrote when she was like 8 years old,, she also performs with out shoes because she gave her shoes to a homeless girl at age 6, to bring light to people without homes and clothes

You're the first reactor I've heard that got the thing with her 2 little cousins and her sister. Add to this the fact that the pianist is Rob Christie from Republic Records, who she just signed with. To me, as you suggested, this video marks a transition from the young Angelina (The girls in white) and the grown up Angelina with this release through Republic Records.

As far as interpreting the whole video, you are the first reactor I've seen pick up that there has to be meaning to the cousins and sister, all dressed in white appearing in sequence. I think this is clearly a reference to Angelina at her different stages of life, especially as they are all dressed in white, which she would often perform in herself. When the song says she is trapped in love, I think she is referring to being trapped in love for old music, which watching the girls all turning to look at the ceiling filled with beautiful old chandeliers is obvious. I think Juliette sitting on the throne looking straight into the camera is Angelina saying "I have mastered the old school". Finally, we see Angelina glance toward the ceiling then look towards the light (from a window?). This must mean she plans to move on to her own and more modern music. The video must have a dozen references to Elvis and his comeback tour which featured this song. I've seen some of those Elvis performances. You might think he is a hypocrite or maybe too drugged out to understand that his actions are putting the lie to his song. But for Angelina, I think that ultimately "Suspicious Minds" is in reference to how the music/entertainment business has threatened to treat her to this point in time. They represent Lisa Marie Presley .. they are there as she is singing about how she's stuck and can't get out because she loves so much. They had a little girl .. it's about her ..
