best fishing youtuber for basic and technical stuff. My go to for learning more about fishing.
@garryknox16145 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alan that was a new technique for me. The opposable two hook rig certainly increases your chances of a hook up. This presentation should work on any fish that take whole baits, great for flathead, mulloway and the like.
@fishingmad5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary, yeah I use the same rig when targeting snapper, gummies and Mulloway and a few other species too.

@@fishingmad Thanks for the reply mate, got plenty of little salmon on plastics, but nothing on this rig. Good practice though, because at least I know how to rig whole baits for when the snapper start biting.

Yeah its a tough time fishing at the moment as the water temperature has dropped right off.

It would be cool if you could go fishing on the Werribee river or at lorne.
@fishingmad5 жыл бұрын
Great ideas, I actually took the kayak on the werribee river 2 weeks ago when it was quite windy. No rods just checking out the area and chatting to others. I was really surprised that the river all the way up to the golf course was less then 2 meters deep in the middle, ill need to go further down where some deeper pools are. I intend to give it a crack soon, the locals wreckon its a pretty challenging destination so looking froward to the challenge. ill be back at Lorne during winter will prob give the piers and artillery rocks a good crack soon,
@jaredbuttigieg5 жыл бұрын
Just be careful at artillery rocks, they can be very dangerous. My dad has been swept into the water there a few times.
@fishingmad5 жыл бұрын
Wow thats no good. Yeah I have been told to be very careful on peak of high tide there. Thanks for the tip.

I actually went out Thursday morning but there was nothing much, just a 31 cm pinky and a couple small flathead. We also got a monster stingray. I can’t wait to get back out there for some snapper soon👍
@sfg64465 жыл бұрын
Just a quick question, I’ve been going past sanctuary lakes and seeing lots of bream and mullet caught. I know you go there a bit so is there any baits or plastics you recommend?
@fishingmad5 жыл бұрын
Yeah its still very hit and miss at the moment. I have some mates who braved the wind during the week, they said they were sounding up some good schools but couldn't get them to bite. Hope to see you out there tomorrow !!
@fishingmad5 жыл бұрын
100% i know that place as well as anyone. My go to is the Savage gear slim minnow in motor oil, the bream in there love it. I also use the 6.5 cm savage curl tail in black the bream and the mullet love it. My first ever sessions there I used a Savage fathead 36 crank and caught a few. I think my record is 20 bream in one session there all on that savage crank lure. the trick there is just finding clearing amongst all the weed. I was going to take the kayak down there soon as ive never done that. might see you down there one night

Thanks Dan, no problems. I generally buy the premade double snelled rigs and paternoster rigs from Reedys Rigs. But happy to do a video soon to show how they are put together.

What advantages does a snelled rig have over just running double hooks and rigging it the same way
@fishingmad3 жыл бұрын
For me i find it to be a more solid setup that never lets you down, I find that having running hooks causes more pressure and strain on the bottom hook should the fish get pinned on the top running hook.

Can we use this rig for rock fishing
@haydenloader45293 жыл бұрын
is the lumo bead on the rig necessary?

completely optional just adds a bit of attractant. Completely up to you whether you feel its necessary or not.

Yeah that is my Savage Gear 1DRF offshore 5-8 kilo rod thats 7 foot 6 in length. They are great rods. I have 2 of them paired with stealth 4000 or 6000 reels depending on how heavy I want to fish.
