Making It Easy with Liz

Making It Easy with Liz

Күн бұрын

In this video I show you how to make a basic loop out of wire, aka "simple", "turned" loop. This loop is a must know technique for wire working. My technique makes it super easy for beginners to get perfect professional results right away.
This is my first video and my cameraman, Blaize is learning too. Please forgive all imperfections on both our parts.

I know most of these comments are from long ago, but I'm just starting to get into jewelry making & your video really helps to show how me how to make the links using a headpin. I'm a "visual" person and learn quicker by watching something or someone rather than just explaining it to me! Thanks Liz! :)

What a nice, precise, and time-effective method for making loops. They really look professional, and much cleaner and more dainty than doing the three wraps around the base of each loop. Thanks for sharing this.

I'm relearning all my wire-wrapping skills after a number of years, and your instructions are so good. I especially like that you mention and show the relative position of the pliers to the wire or loop (horizontal with, perpendicular to) that you don't think about consciously when you're skilled, but which beginners don't know or notice. I had a number of round and flat nosed pliers, and the Sharpie does wear off; I got my Dremel tool and a small engraving tip and made corresponding lines across the tops at intervals, like you would do with a Sharpie. I went back with a narrow Identi-pen and marked in the narrow grooves so they show up better. Every few months I go back over them and they work beautifully.

Wish I'd found this a year ago when I first started working with wire. Clear instructions, easy on the ears, no redundant information and a great measuring tip. Only possible improvement would be the out of focus/too fast close ups but I understand this was your first so you [and your camera operator] really did a fantastic job. Love that your dog is in the background, I've already subscribed. I "practised" endlessly with all gauges of natural copper wire [until I thought I had perfected my techniques] before transitioning to dead soft sterling silver wire [and head pins] but I'm still finding it difficult to get the same results; among other things wire seems to "harden up" very quickly. Any tips or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Liz. I am a potter, and have been wanting to try my hand at jewelry using clay, but I have exactly 0 experience with jewelry! I recently took a PMC jewelry course at a local county location and learned some of the "language" used in jewelry, which was helpful. I've watched a myriad of youtube vids using wire (copper being my go to), and saved a couple of YOUR more recent videos, and just came across this one. I want to extend a compliment your way...to let you know how much good stuff I've gleaned from you...and how much better your instructional vids have gotten over the years (considering I think this one is from 2014). Thank you! You've got a great voice and calming influence. Hoping to learn some more good tips from you in the coming weeks! I've also enjoyed another "wire person" named, Lan Anh from Vietnam. She's is also extraordinary, but doesn't narrate her videos (and since I don't speak Vietnamese, it wouldn't make much difference! LOL). Hoping you will see this post and accept my thanks for the good job you do.

After putting a bead on the wire I eye my wire when cutting it off to make the second eye pin.....and on several occasions I’ve cut it too short. This video is great for learning this crucial technique. Somehow I ended up stumbling onto measuring the wire lengths through trial and error, but there is one thing I do different: I use 6 in 1 bail making pliers for the loops! This will also can get you the same sized loop every time depending on which one you pick--I hadn't even thought to simply mark the round nose pliers.

Thank you so much for making an easy to follow video showing how to make wire loops. I am very new to making earrings and have really struggled with this aspect, especially getting the loops even and close to the bead. Your video solved all of my issues!

This was very helpful, especially the part of adding the second loop... I could never figure out how to close it without disfiguring the shape, such an easy solution! Thank You!

Loved your tutorial. I do a lot of wrapped loops because I have not been good with measuring the amount to cut off to make a simple loop instead of wrapped. Great idea about the measuring wire tool you made and the permanent marker. Thank you so much!
