I think this is one of the best songs that respresents Jinx perfectly; it shows her hurt, trauma, PTSD, and the inner conflict within herself, whether to try to give a shot at loving Vi again, as she is tired of the grieving and anger all by herself, or to accept her new self, as Silco said "You're perfect", as she can never truly go back to being Powder. Rock on Gav, and when you can, rest well from your work!❤

This made me emotional, how dare you. Seriously, though, the lyrics and scenes that accompanied them were done so well. This song really fits her, just as much as “What Could Have Been” and “Guns for Hire.” Jinx was so interesting to watch, all the good and bad moments. The scene where Powder is knocked back by her explosion and she’s just in awe at what she’s creating sent chills down my spine when I first saw it. _Arcane_ became one of my favorite shows, and I can barely stop smiling when I watch it with my dad. In other words, this song was, well, perfect.

Without knowing the story, I drew - not exactly wrong but different conclusions. I've yet to watch the last episode, but with each and every one I've seen, this song slowly changed. I understand the full meaning and...well, it's perfect. It's perfect and it fits Jinx and describes how hurt and broken she is without actually giving too much away. A masterpiece.

Arcane really surprised me with its mature tone and tight writing, especially given the source material being one so contentious and easily mocked. A video game adaptation that's not shit! Who would've guessed the developers themselves would have the most passion and respect for their own source material that they've been meticulously crafting for over a decade now? Go figure. I mean I've never played the game myself but I highly respect what they've done here. What was NOT surprising at all, however, was how FUCKING EXCELLENT this song is. I've been saying this for 9 going on 10 years now, Gav, but well done to you! In the early days I had friends and family dismiss your work as goofy and middling; they couldn't see the underlying genius in your songwriting. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy 99.9% of your discography, even a few of the songs you yourself aren't exactly fond of. But it's works of art like THIS that make me feel vindicated in my support of you. Much like the show it was based on, a song so universally sublime that it can and should be experienced by everyone even without any baseline knowledge of its background. Apologies for the long comment, I'm just so thrilled to see your career evolve into what it is now. I truly believe that each passing album is better than the last, and you show no signs of hitting a peak. The quality just keeps climbing! I know the past two years have been a struggle for you creative and burnout wise, and this song in particular was in development hell. But if this is the end result of you taking time to breathe and relax, then by all means take as much time as you want. I'll be here. We'll be here. Thank you, Gav. You're the fucking best.

Honestly, the biggest question I have about Jinx after watching Arcane: did she ever have a chance to be mentally healthy? Because even as a child she was rather troubled and seemed, at the very least, to be incredibly dependent on people around her. She definitely hated being alone. So even if Vi was there to raise her I can't help but wonder if she was always going to become Jinx. Don't get me wrong, Silco was incredibly toxic to her and in reverse, but he also was, in a sense, what she needed. Someone who praised her, who made her feel worth something. Which makes me wonder if depression is another mental disorder to thro- Yeah, Jinx truly is a disturbing creature...
@aivateskey32632 жыл бұрын
I mean. Consider that the child we first see (at the age of three...MAYBE five?) just experienced the slaughter of her parents and entire community, which was burned to the ground around her. Of course she was troubled. Her entire world and support system had just been ripped out from under her. It's amazing that she survived at all. As a thought experiment, make it so that instead of her parents dying, they instead all lived in Piltover, where they could experience stability, opportunities for advancement, and a much higher quality of life. Now Jinx's biggest conflict is whether she'll get a scholarship to the academy, where she can study chemistry, rise as a prodigy in her field, and build the most amazing fireworks displays for progress day. Yeah, she had a chance. But the world she lived in ripped it away.
@SophiaLilithUwU2 жыл бұрын
i think its pretty clear from her freak out in episode 3 in response to Vi leaving her at home, that she had major abandonment issues even before she became Jinx. Related to that, she also evidently cares about being perceived as useful and "worthy" to be involved in things, which makes sense in a world like the lanes where you have to constantly contribute to the success of your respective gang to ensure your survival, which is why Milo's comments get under her skin so much. So she would definitely grow up to be a perfectionist, who constantly tries to validate their existence to other people, much like she did as Jinx, but she probably would not have entered psychosis, because that was indirectly by her accidentally killing most of her family.
@heiveldboy2 жыл бұрын
@@SophiaLilithUwU What you described is why I diagnose her with Dependent Personality Disorder. Being ridiculously attached to Vi, craving her positive reinforcements, freaking out when she thinks she is useless, etc. Her entire world view is based on the opinion of Vi first, her family second, which is a textbook symptom of DPD.
@SophiaLilithUwU2 жыл бұрын
@@heiveldboy I hadnt heard of that condition before, but that interesting indeed!
@SophiaLilithUwU2 жыл бұрын
@@heiveldboy though i will say i wonder if DPD is apt. Because she is certainly able to make independent decisions an actually spends a lot of time alone after she became Jinx. Love the little detail of Silcos parts sounding a lot like *"Guns for Hire"* (the song that plays as Jinx lights up the flare Vi gave her), It fits his loving yet manipulative influence "perfectly"...
@RaptorJesus10 ай бұрын
Ehhh, manipulation requires some amount of intentional deceit and so on, and I think it's pretty obvious he believed every single word he said to her. He was clearly never ashamed of her, despite her obvious quirks. I think Silco is an example of an excellent father in terms of how he actually *treats* Jinx. Loved her unconditionally, trusted her implicitly, giving her genuine responsibilities. He never treated her like she was incapable or 'lesser' because of her issues. All he saw was his daughter's incredible strength as a person. Where he fails is in his outlook, that he was trying to pass down to her. But that's not manipulation, because *he believed it.* He just wanted her prepared for how the world really was in his mind. Even the one time he truly screwed up, his fib about Vi, wasn't at all malicious. From his perspective Vi is the person who hurt Jinx the most, gave her all the awful things she has to deal with day in and day out. He truly believed Vi just wanted the crystal, and after she had it, she'd throw Jinx away again. *Of course* he would want to keep Jinx from Vi, from having to relive that all over again. Not trying to say Silco is some saint or perfect father, he isn't. But his negative influences on her aren't born of malice or some grand plan that Jinx is just a part of, it's purely from the fact *he just thinks that's how things are.*

I mean, it made me write a comment, which speaks a lot about how much I like it! Thank you guys for bringing joy into this world!

I cannot stop listening to this, it's absolute, addictive perfection. You made a beautiful, upbeat orchestral piece that makes perfect use of Karliene's gorgeous husky voice. I'm in love!!

For the past year I've been listening to your music, ever since I've started I've had at least one of your songs in my playlists at all times. Outstanding song as always!

i don't know if you will see this, but i just wanna say thank you. your songs helped me a lot when i was a lonely kid w depression, and when i was a broken adult who tried to off themselves. i really don't know if i still be here if it wasn't for your dragon age songs, and i'm so glad i've survived to listen to this one. after all this months of therapy i finally don't need someone to call me perfect

Well as the song says, “It’s perfect”. Thanks for another masterpiece Friend.

Dude, this song makes you reflect. Imagine if Jinx hadn't grown up in traumatic conditions. That level of inventing genius - she was able to do far more than Jayce would have been able to at 13 (or whatever her young age is) with extremely limited tools. The conditions you grow up in make such a difference

What a good end to this shitty day of working overtime. You really cheer me up with your work, Gavin. Again. Thank you.

You know what, it says a absolute lot about the skill of both of you, when you can make me feel sorry for Jinx. Thank you.

This sounds proper good. Karliene's voice fits so well. She's such a story teller :) I understand why you asked her specifically for this song!

It is amazing how Gavin can capture the essence of anything in a song. And the collaboration with Karliene is, as always, incredible.

This is a true masterpiece. As a someone intimately familiar with Powder's mental problem it was good seeing It portrayed that way in Arcane and even here in this song. Respectful but not sugarcoated. So thank you all. Kudos. 🥰

It is such a skill to be able to distill a character down into such a pure form and then weave that through a truly beautiful piece of music, and you smashed it out of the park

I love when Karliene does this style of vocalization. I've been wanting a full song similar to her performance Ascension (DOS2), and this comes very close.
@SpaceMarineOverseer2 жыл бұрын
Now THAT's what I call a real masterpiece! Perfect indeed. Karliene's ability to voxshift from young girl into adult woman plus Mr. Dunne's skill bring some novelty into well-known material and making the vocalists' performance sound like original characters' thoughts are worthy of admiration! BOTH thumbs up!!!

Love the fact Gavins lines in the song take a minor turn. Hinting malice and anger. Love the whole song!

Well the song speaks for itself. It is simly "perfect". Little sidenote here, Jinx is one of my absolute favourite characters in the LoL universe.

i love it. Goddesses above and below it made me cry. Recognizing the monster inside and the struggle to accept it for being perfect the way she is without judgement in this world is so fricking difficult.

Может я уже надумываю, но не могу отделаться от чувства, что куплет "And I trusted you And I'm still trying to But my heart is still exploding Corroding into shame" Адресован Силко, но она все равно идеальна в его глазах :3 Боже, уже прошло большее месяц как я посмотрела на Аркейн, но я никак не могу преодолеть эту зависимость и эта песни просто идеально создает во мне те же чувства, что и сам сериал...

I really love that the song and Jinx line up so well that Jinx actually looks like she says the word perfect at 3:29-3:31 in the song like it's just one of the many details in the video that well make the song so perfect.

Finally! Such a great way to star 2022 officially! The sing feels like not just a character song, but like some kind of ballad Inspired by personal struggles. Which is also a cool thing. Gav, i wish you a happy everything and a fruitful year, filled with new amazing songs)))))😄😄😄😄😄👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥

It very much is inspired by personal struggles - I had a brother who suffered from very similar mental health issues to Jinx. Sadly he took his own life when he was 18. So this song definitely feels quite personal to me as an exploration of the effects that trauma and psychosis can have on people
