Perfect Day in Tuscany! - BEAUTIFUL Picnic Spot, Underground Winery, Castles & MORE! (Italy)

Today we’re on a mission to have the perfect day in Tuscany, and I think we nailed it! 🇮🇹 We started with a delicious picnic at a local cheese farm, 🧀 then visited the ancient city of Montepulciano to tour a cave winery and ended with beautiful views at Poppi Castle. Ah, you were so close to Montalcino, one of our favorite places in Tuscany. And Buenconvento is a wonderful town as well that the train runs through. On our first day in Tuscany we asked an old man out drinking espresso with his friends where the grocery store was in Buenconvento and after he told us we started off on foot to find it. A few minutes later a car pulled up beside us. It was the old man who had come to check on us to be sure we were walking in the right direction. Such good people.

Re: "it will take us years and years and years to get anywhere with wine". Actually what happens is that when you start to appreciate wine, you seamlessly move from liking a wine with food to appreciating it for itself, and then everything gets increasingly expensive from there on!

Just got back from three weeks in Italy. Also did the picnic basket lunch - AMAZING. But one thing to be aware of, I think COVID did in the ‘just walk into the barrel room’. We were planning to do that, but we’re very disappointed to find the doors closed and only doing guided tours now. We weren’t there at the right time for a tour but still had a fantastic afternoon in Montepulciano.
