Finally finished mine. My first PG. What a damn build. I have to say, I think I messed something up with the shield because it doesn't collapse even though I followed the instructions to a T. Screw is stripped so I think I have to say oh well because I can't take it apart. Weirdly enough I also cannot get the forearm pieces to sit flush - they're always about a millimeter or two apart.Super frustrating. This thing is absolutely gigantic. I have to say, I think everyone should own at least one PG just for the sheer shelf presence. Looks absolutely incredible and great poser considering the insane engineering. The ankles and feet are nuts with the amount of pistons, linkages and other weirdness. The most unique build I've done hands down. My Ver Ka Nu comes up to its waist.

Hello my friend! Glad to hear that you like this kit! For me it’s top3 of all. If it comes to the shield I had this problem too. I was struggling at first to make it workable and it was little confusing because I also did everything like in the manual. First of all to collapse it you need to turn it left or right (depends where yours is stuck) and the mechanism should start to work. Do not be afraid to use a little force (but just a little!). Just check the rotation of the part. I can send you a video of mine if you need more help.
@tedhodge48303 ай бұрын
@@gundamartz It rotates on mine about a quarter turn, but it wobbles more than pressing in the way I expected to let it unlock and collapse. Yeah, a short video would be helpful. And yes, this kit looks incredible, waiting on batteries for the LEDs.

@@tedhodge4830if your still interested i found a fix dor the forearm armour at least on mine. One of the forearm skeleton pieces has a ledge on one side and not on the other and the ledge is supposed to be closer to the hand but the book gives you almost no indication of that. If the screw you used to secure that forearm bit is already stripped i recommend using your pliers and a hobby knife and just cutting it out. If you look away from the hand youll find the offending ledge on the other side whereas there is no other ledge piece on the opposite side of the kind of square there.

My only experience with PG is the Astray Red Frame, which I won from a drawing. My build experience was pretty much exactly the same as yours. It took me about a week to build, and I loved every moment of it. Unfortunately, The Astray lacks any opening panels since the frame was modified from the PG Strike, so there’s no seeing that inner frame once you’ve completed it. But the PG Gerbera Straight is a sight to behold, with an obvious hamon line, a signed tang, and even a tiny mekugi pin going through the handle. If I build another PG, it’ll probably be this, because I love the MkII, and the detail on this inner frame is immaculate.

Yeah shame that Seed PGs are limited in this case. Red Frame will be probably my next PG build. PG Perfect Strike on the other hand is my dream 1/60. Go with the MKII. Every minute with this kit is gold. You will be truly happy :)

Picked up the kit a few weeks ago, got into it this week and it's impressive. THAT said I'm half(?) way through and got finished with the wiring portion, during that however the cockpit seat and pilot found their way out of the ball.. Not putting that back in given the effort to undo all of the work x.x

Hello my friend, thank you so much!✌️ Yes, some of the armor parts are undergated. But you will find some nub marks here and there, nothing bad or on your face. I can honestly say that it is a perfect model in terms of appearance. Nothing will distract you after OOB build and the build process is absolutely top notch.

Excellent review as always mate ! This beauty in 1/60 scale was so badly appealing, but I thought 20+ years old was a bit frightening... It was definitely misjudgment!! Only thing worrying me are all those screws in plastic joints (I swear I can hear plastic's cry of pain under metal ) Was it any breaking fear on that side during assembly?
@sheeplehunter96518 ай бұрын
I had the same worries about screws when I got the PG Zaku II, but they were easier to use than I thought they would be. I don't know about the MK II, but with the Zaku I probably would have been fine without using any of the screws except for the LED in the head.
@gundamartz8 ай бұрын
Basically the screws are ok. Like sheeplehunter9651 mentioned you can skip some of them if you like and the kit will be ok. For example in Gouf Custom MG screws was totally piece of shait. They fractured the plastic and there was no chance to screw some of them without problems or damaging the plastic(at least in my copy). Here everything works like a charm so totally no worries. It’s a great piece of a model kit, absolutely 9/10 and for the price it’s like a really perfect thing. I was afraid about the 2001 mark also but can guarantee that it’s only fun, joy, excitement, relaxation, beauty and all good things that comes in my mind. For a Gundam fan it’s just perfection. I’m looking at this model with pride every time I’m in the studio.

Very nice review. 2001 and it's still one of the best PGs they've ever made. Sure, the screw and polycap combination is terrible (this kit WILL fall over!), but when you build it, you can feel that it's a kit envisioned with passion and enthusiasm (the gold chains being a perfect example, it's an excess detail element included because they *could* ). The price is also appreciable. Regarding design it's anime accurate and looks like it's supposed to, meaning if you like the Mk II, you'll like this gunpla - The point here is that both the original RX-78-2 PG and the PGU aren't actually anime accurate, they're both alternative versions and ideas of the same original design which you may or may not enjoy (I like the original, I'm not too keen on the PGU's aesthetics), only the MG 2.0 is made with anime accuracy in mind (and is a baller kit to boot). I actually prefer the Mk II PG to the PGU *because* it's not flawless and it doesn't come together easily. The PGU is near perfect which makes it a little dull to assemble and in the end doesn't feel like you've accomplished something special, like you do with other PG kits. It's still a top notch and magnificently envisioned kit with a great stage assembly experience, but it's not a comparable experience. I'd go so far as to say it's comparatively beginner friendly. The Mk II is #6 out of 20'ish PG kits (depending on what you count and there are more P-Bandai kits as well as from other franchises) - until the PGU they kind of stopped doing the opening hatches gimmicks. It's really only the GP01 that kept that feature and then they cut down significantly on the gimmicks, on all the SEED and 00 kits.

Hi my friend! Absolutely I’m with you. Like I mean for real - this assemble will stay with my heart for a long time. It was the first time when I was overexited during the build. Everything from the package to the final product = pure love of the creators. This is the reason why I love this hobby. A journey with the model itself. PGU for me looks great on the photos and for sure it is the best tribute to the timeless design that started it all. For sure there will be a lot to talk about in the review. I’m totally cold minded for this kit so my review will be totally objective and I’m very curious what I will feel about this model. About the hatches gimmicks - I really love this feature, for me it’s one of the best thing ever - freedom of display and this feeling of curiosity, if you know what I mean. Really shame that Seed kits do not get any kind of craziness in this matter. Still I need to find older PGs for my collection as their are really remarkable pieces of plastic models history.
