PERFECT MITER CUTS EVERY TIME

Hi, A good base video, but for a Newbie (cough cough) who is making frames for his girl's artwork, what drives me crazy is that slight variation on 'Where' I cut it. Say an 8" by 5" frame. I make at 8" and there is that pencil line on my board. What is the best tip to keep the board 8" after final cut. Cut on the line, to the side of the line, how much does the blade width count, do I walk it up to the line etc. Thanks !!
