As a kid I realized how unfair the parents were to Henry, but I never noticed how it negatively affected Peter too. He’s so terrified to not be perfect, and he lacks proper attention because they focus on Henry too much. Plus he’s so unassertive, he cries over anything.

Oof, that hits home for me. When I was a kid I used to get bullied and it caused me to be more insecure about myself. But I never did tell my parents about it. I only cried silently at night in my room alone where no one can see. One time my parents found out I was crying. They asked why, and I told them about it. I finally opened up to them about all my traumas and that took a lot of courage from me. Yet the first thing they said was that I'm an "ungrateful child" because according to my parents even though I was bullied I should be grateful I wasn't born in a wartorn country and then I got lectured about how lucky I am to just be born into this world and that other people have it way worse than me. They told me I have absolutely NO RIGHTS to cry and that I am a weak person to cry about such an insignificant thing. Ever since that day I earned a nickname in my home "ungrateful child" it has gotten to the point where even my little sister who was still a small child at the time calls me that to. I don't think she fully understands what it meant. But it has gotten so normalized that whenever my sister does something wrong, and I get blamed for it, she would always yell to my parents telling them that I was being an "ungrateful child" again. I'm older now, but even today they still occationally call me that. Even when I wasn't even being ungrateful. Even when being an ungrateful child has nothing to do with the situation.

Peter is so lucky Henry is not as brutal to him as he was in the first seasons or books. The stuff he does in later seasons wouldn't fly as often as it does in later seasons.

@@undisclosedidentity9893I've heard that there will actually be a spinoff. Henry is 16-17 and Peter is 13 there. Henry falls into severe depression,which leads to extreme anger issues and easy irritation. Since Peter still likes to get him in trouble,it leads to extreme violence and it causes more trouble for Henry to deal since he's a teenager and can't control his emotions along with increasing the severe depression he has.

Henrys family is so toxic. They dont let him do the things he wants to. Sometimes they tell him off for no reason. Peter always throws him under the bus. His parents probably dont like him and finds every excuse to yell at him. They made him do ballet even though they know he hates ballet. There was this one episode when henry was grounded for no reason. Henrys parents and Peter just make me so mad.

Tbh, the parents affect henry and peter negatively. Henry, dear lord, that kids gonna have issues when he's older. Mainly because of all the blaming for stuff he's never done. That can really, REALLY, REALLY affect a child's mental health. Because in most cases, the parents gaslight him into thinking he was bad when he wasn't. And you can just tell the parents dont like him. eg the bring your kid to work day episode, the parents fight over who to bring to work, in front of henry, no less. so he's absolutely aware he's disliked. So yea, that's gonna bring a whole cascade of problems in Teenage Hood, (Abusive relationships, low self-worth, etc etc. ) Peter isn't as bad, but still hes gonna have issues as well. Since Peter gets away with everything, He's gonna go into adulthood with the same mindset of: "If i act good, i can get away with everything just under the table." Which will absolutely lead to everyone disliking him, which will be hard for him to handle because of his parents' favouritism for him. TDLR. these parents suck ass.

In the book when Peter kicks Henry,instead of being punished the dad tells Henry to stop "being horrid". Also I forgot at 0:29 where Henry lays the table and the mother is proud,in the book it's different. The mother thinks Peter did it and praises him for that. Henry clarifies it was him but she didn't believe him because Henry was horrid and had a bad personality about himself which was hard to believe someone like him would do something nice for once. I have seen multiple changes in the show that are the same scenes EXACTLY in the book but just switched from what they were originally.

7:32 dude I legit got so angry at this part because Henry was doing nothing wrong here I just don’t understand why it’s a rule in the first place. I’m not even all that mad at Peter more so the mom because Peter is a child and hasn’t matured yet. Heck no matter how horrid Peter was during the compilation it’s hard to be mad at him since he was told his entire life that he was the perfect child and Henry was the bad child. So when Henry is acting like the good kid it messes him up and he tries to get things back to how they were before. Not to mention the reason he probably wants to tell the whole world how terrible Henry is, is because his parents shoved that belief down his throat that Henry will always be a horrid kid. Growing up watching this show, it feels like Henry isn't even that horrid in most of the episodes, he's just mischievous. In fact, his parents are more terrible than he is. They practically favour their son Peter over Henry, which is something that parents shouldn't do. And Francesca (Henry's mum) is abusive as hell, as she just wants to punish Henry, even when he didn't do anything wrong, such as her telling Henry off for eating all the sweets, and she refused to hear him out, and there's that one episode where she left Henry home without realising most of the time. Simon (Henry's dad) is almost just bad, although I suppose in some episodes he kinda cared for Henry, but he is probably afraid of getting in trouble with his wife. Therefore, Peter and Henry are just misunderstood children who have terrible parents.

There was this one episode when Henry tricks Peter that there’s fairies so that he can get him in trouble. After the parents ground Peter, Henry’s mom just comes to his room and shows Henry the pictures of himself dressed as a fairy and says she’ll completely expose him in front his friends and teachers. Like why the fuck do you have to do that!! Just ground him or sm not embarrass him. That scene just pissed me off so much.

Peter does have a deeply-buried bad side. He can show it if provoked enough, like if he's taunted. The only reason it's hidden is because he and Henry are growing up in an abusive household. He even drew a picture of him with his family. But guess who was separate from his family? None other than Henry. But, he's also quite manipulative in some aspects. As he did feign crying to get Henry in further trouble, as seen at 12:24. Look very closely at his face at 12:35.
