Would you recommend this piece over other Rolex models?

Hi, Personally yes, It's my favourite to wear. A Submariner may be the other one that would come close for me now its a bigger size (I don't have one), but that has a lot more baggage that this avoids.

@@wristopia4101 yeah exactly my thinking , I’ve just got the call to say they have the explorer 40 for me. I’ve gone into a flat spin about it as a long time ago I wanted the sub , but like you say it’s such a target for criminals now it’s tainted the appeal, I’m just wondering wether the explorer will still give me the feel I want from it tho. Decisions decisions, and I must make one today! 🤔
@dazlarg23 күн бұрын
@@wristopia4101 yeah that’s my feelings exactly, I want a watch I can wear everyday and use as opposed to leaving in a watch box the majority of the time.. 36 would be too small for my 7 1/4 wrist .

I got the explorer 40 2 weeks ago. I absolutely love it. Perfect dimensions.

I have the 36mm version, great under the radar Rolex. Definitely gets about 2x the wrist time as my 2 tone DJ.

I have a 6.5" wrist....so the sizing IS perfect! ;-)

Some time ago, I bought 21mm vintage looking brown leather straps, but I've never put them on because the bracelet is so comfortable!

Great review. I love the simplicity of the Explorer and the classic nature of the watch. However being a big guy with 20cm wrists I have tried it on a few times and it has always seemed a bit small on me. Such a shame as I would love to buy one but I think I would buy it but then stop wearing it so much once the honeymoon period is over….. no denying it’s a brilliant watch though. Hopefully they will make 44mm Explorer in the future that will actually be 42mm lol
@wristopia41013 ай бұрын
Definitely do not do it Gavin! Get a 36mm safe queen at most haha. So many watches are too small for me but stay strong and do not lower yourself to bitch about it like the smaller wristed guys normally do ; ) I would absolutely love a quartz Grand Seiko or a manual wind watch from any brand, but always either too small, horrible strap, or an Automatic!!!

Unpopular opinion warning! *KLAXON!* - - i think the explorer is a bit dull! Its a perfect example of aggressive marketing - wasn't even the first watch to summit Everest - that was the Smiths! Had it said "Accurist" on the dial no one would pay it any attention! Glad people love it and dont mean to trash it - just good that we all like and appreciate different styles! Love the channel btw! (picked up my Explorer 2 polar dial just 3 weeks ago after being on the list 4 bloody years!! Had given up all hope! lol!)
@wristopia41013 ай бұрын
Haha, thanks for your input and glad you like the channel! I fully appreciated the Klaxon warning ; ) It is a bit dull visually apart from Arabic Numerals but that's its point I feel. Probably the point of most steel Rolex. Design and build Gold Medal though IMO. The whole Everest/Moon/Mariana Trench thing means little to me apart from a good tale to tell/banter, and 'The Moon' is way way more aggressively marketed anyway. Deep Dive watches (or Invicta's) take care of the Non Dull wrist presence I guess, and The Ultra Deep is probably the 'Top Trump' winning card in that arena 😈 Congrats on the EXII. Bloody long wait, but bloody nice watch ; )

Rolex steel pieces are just the ultimate tool watches to me, nothing special (apart from price!!) above that. Annual calendar is great but I could not suffer a DJ with weird turning bezel for it. Deep-Sea and DSC are great for their depth rating but DSC is a bit big and pricey lol.

Until very recently, Rolex made an OP with the 369 face and coronet at twelve exactly as per your dream Explorer so not going to happen.

Had my name down for the 40mm but i kept trying on the 36mm & couldnt get past the feeling that the explorer should be 36mm so i changed my order & now waiting for the 36mm to come in, guess its the traditionalist in me & why i went for a Sub rather than a Sub Date which i got the call for in Jan & yes, it can so easily be a 1 & done watch!
@wristopia41013 ай бұрын
I would pick the size based on my wrist (if it were being worn ; ) but appreciate your viewpoint with respect ✊ I simply could not suffer another cyclops so 1000% the Sub👌 well done on your acquisitions. Sub will be my end game I think, although technicallymanaged to get on a list for a Panda 🤗

Lol KZbinr wants to change one of the best designed dials in watch history 😂 Want to change the Milsub and Omega Seamaster 300 while you're at it? Any other classics you want to ruin?
@wristopia41015 күн бұрын
I wouldn't dare change anything about any watch (especially Rolex!)! Manufacturer needs to be the one to do that IMO. The Explorer dial is the subject of discussion about the positioning of the text. I think they are both less than perfect so was just giving my feelings on what would work better. I think the SMP300 is a mess of a design, but that's Omegas problem. The SMP600 and 6000 are stunning though IMO. I would of course love it if anything is changed to my liking on any watch, and have just ordered a San Martin because I think it has something I like and have been saying needs to happen 🤞

Notice how you have a stanped clasp? Fake. Even my $300 watches have a milled clasp. Rolex doesnt make garbage. That's a cheap bracelet therfore its fake.
@wristopia41013 ай бұрын
Feels like a milled clasp to me. I do have a Pressed clasp on my vintage SD though, so think I know the difference. How many Rolex/High End High Street watches have you handled?
