ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 was an exceptional recommendation. Neutral and capable of resolving new information in recordings that I listened to hundreds of times before with speakers that cost me twice as much decades ago. Never fatiguing, even at high volume levels. But ya gotta tolerate a substantial break-in period of the cone surround materials for the drivers to really come to life. Worth trying.

I totally agree that having multiple speaker sets gives you different tastes of sound. I usually have a minimum of 3 pairs at all times plus a subwoofer. I have heard many good things on your channel and others about the speakers you have recommended. Personally I build all my speakers so I can tune the sound to what I want but at the core I always have a pair of full range speakers, 3 ways and open baffles then change them out depending upon mood and type of music. This hobby can be a lot of fun if you do not get lost in the "I must have" high end speakers of the moment and give yourself variety. Thanks as always!

Oooooh..... Thanks! Right now, I'm running a set of Q Acoustics 3030i's with a BlueSound Powernode, as well as KEF LS50 wireless (ver 1). They are very different combo's and sounds. My biggest surprise is how much I really love the 3030i's--I picked them up for $350 in Jan. The KEFS? $2100 back in 2019. Grab the 3030i's when they go on sale (usually over the Christmas holiday).

When I bought the Focal chorus 807v to compare against my Polk 200s it was a match of speakers made in France by a designer company I forget he name of the house. The Focals listed at 1199.99 and sold in America at the 999.99 price point against the Polks that cost 749.99 and normally sells for 649.99 on-sale. In some areas the Focals blow away the Polk but the Polks do the same thing to the Focals on certain types of music. It's fun being able to change the sound when u want and compare different speakers. I'm already looking for another pair to put up against the R 200s. Lol

To me the R200's are great with electronic or dance music. I mean they are a good all around speaker but I really enjoy those with the electronic..like Ben Bohmer, Lane 8, Sasha, Nick Warren, Jerome isma-ae, Depeche mode, some rap and pop music

I can't agree more. My house is starting to look like a warehouse. I have at least a couple of different speakers in each category. A lot of those include vintage as well. At the top? Vintage JBL L80ts and Boston Acoustics A-200 floorstanders. On the bottom the A Jones Pioneer 22s with matching center for the basement HT. Also in the basement for two channel, Advent Legacys (circa 1990) and KLH Model Sixes (the originals from the 70s). Office: Elac Debut B6 and Energy RC-10 (the higher series-Connoiseur). That's not all, of course, but certainly some of my goto!

Yup. Got Dali Spektor 2's in the bedroom, for my home theater I have Elac UB5 fronts, UC5 center, Spektor 1's for front heights and B5.2's for surrounds, and for my desktop the Uni-Fi References. They're all good in their own way. Spektor 2's least fatiguing, the References by far the most detailed. The UB5's a good medium with great imaging and large sweet spot for dialogue.

Movies are awesome, music is encompassing, and their a heritage system at it’s current age. Hi Randy! Thanks for what you do for the community. Love the channel! So thank you. Great video! I’m in the market for temporary, cheap speakers for a Home Theater setup. Room is 15.5’x17’ and 8.5’ ceilings.. only a door to enter, so no open wall spaces. Room has sound treatments. Which of the $500 and $1000 speakers you talked about would you recommend for HT (if any)? I wouldn’t mind listening to music from time to time in there, but HT is the primary application. Thanks again!

The Elac BS41 has a very smooth and pretty flat frequency response - it has quite extended treble. And the bass is extended enough, that it doesn't miss all that much music without a sub. Most small speakers *need* a sub to hear the midbass.

My only problem with Emotivas is they take a lot of power, especially using them in HT scenario on all channels. The impedance curves are demanding and require a fairly high powered amplifier like Emotiva separates. A typical AVR will really struggle with them. I wish Emotiva would give us a great speaker for the money that would be more HT AVR friendly.

I love this concept. Right now, I have a 20-year-old pair of Polk R40 towers (nice bass and mids, rolled off up top), and a pair of Jamo S809 towers (much, much 'brighter,' more lively sound - and I got the pair on sale for $219). I switch them out about once a month, and they're both 'new' again when I do. But maybe I should stop adding more towers and look at some of these instead 😏

Great video as always! Question--for speakers in this price range ($300-1000), will upgrading speaker cables improve the sound? For example, say you buy a $500 pair of speakers and use Amazon basics (or something similar) then move up to a speaker cable that costs b/w $100-150. Are you likely going to get a huge increase in sound quality? Thanks!

I have a pair of ELAC's Debut Reference DBR62s, poorly placed on top of a bookshelf, a foot from the ceiling, and they still sound really good. CAM, enjoyed the video.

You should do a video about soundbars, used in a music-listening mode (not TV). All videos are always about features, but not really audiophile sound quality :) just saying... thanks for your videos, really informatives

A/D Converter, Here's an upgraded cable modem A/D converter to feed an ethernet equipped streamer. Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 32X8 3.0Gbps. Should be a solid audio upgrade.

U.S. company, but many or most products are manufactured in China. But at least they have honest pricing.

The floating prices is called dollar cost averaging. It's like going to Publix and buying BOGO's and the next day it's not.

Always fun to hook up a different speaker, and enjoy it for awhile. I alternate thru a single driver backloaded horn, Kef, maggies, AMT 1 a, etc. Some better with tubes, or solid state. Need storage though.

I have four sets of speakers. Three are these mentioned and I have a huge set of Joseph Audio Infiinite Slope's in my man cave. 125lbs each. When I crank those babies up, the cops are coming and they have. Get some nice, high current amps.
