Awesome explanation, like always. I used to always almost break my arm trying to get my elbow tucked inside ukes armpit, in the past. I taught myself to go down while turning, like in a corkscrew motion, to prevent that from happening. But I see you go down all the way, which is, in my opinion, even better. I'll try that, from now on. Thanks. And by the way, I'm just a brown belt, trying to get my black belt at some point, hopefully. I'm not the youngest anymore, with 48 years of age. But we'll see how it goes. 😁

Sweet video! Production is clean and most importantly the lesson was informative. I am wondering if you could ever execute the Morote Seoi Nage by grabbing the same side lapel as the sleeve grip? For example in the video you grab his right arm sleeve and his left collar lapel-- could you grab the same right arm sleeve but hit the move with the right collar lapel grip? We were drilling this move in BJJ with that variation.

Tobias Edwards Yes! This throw can be executed with the grips you speak of.

very nice video! but how do you stand up and throw from that low crouched down squat position? everytime i try doing that my whole lower body buckles when i try to stand up.

When you first begin the forward throw what do you do first? Is it the initial step in towards your opponent or do you pull your opponents sleeve and lapel or is it simultaneous? My timing is consistently off when attempting most forward throws. I'm probably overthinking it when I'm getting ready to throw. I appreciate any advice you have. Thanks

Stephen Reilly Thanks for the comment. At the highest levels, the initial step and the kuzushi of the sleeve happens simultaneously. Uchikomi practice helps build this timing and coordination. Hit the dojo to practice it! Aloha!
